One has to ask: Why do Russian mothers, wives, and sisters put up with the elimination of the male population of their nation for a war that no one (except Putin) wanted?

It seems what Russia is consistently good at is inflicting misery. Not just to their neighbors but especially to the infantry in their own army and the families of these men. It would almost be comical were it not real how horribly these men are abused and neglected by the commanders. They are lied to and deceived, given no meaningful training or preparation, soldiers have to buy their own boots, thermal clothings, even body armor. Then they are fed poorly if at all. Made to spend weeks and months waiting in dank, cold trenches, before being ordered to attack well fortified defensive positions across open terrain. Their pay is often stolen and their families have no idea about the state of their loved ones. Who in the Hell wants a government like this? Not a soul in the world. That’s what Putin doesn’t get. He is worse than useless.
