^^^ Panel from BotchedSpot.com, one of my fav patreon creators!James is super nice and sent me the comic panels for the WM34 ep :)

Hey brahs and bras!

Hope you had a great weekend (us Irish and in the UK it’s bank holiday Monday) and enjoyed the new WrestleMania 34 episode! It just happened to fall on our SEVENTH BIRTHDAY!! Got some super lovely feedback from it. Run up to an episode release is always a crunch and I'm always worrying it's no good, I'm so happy you guys enjoyed it! Now that it’s been released I thought I’d show ya what I’m up today – re-editing WM34 to get the video up on YouTube!

Although WWE allow us to use their content for reviews, they don’t help us at all with YouTube. I just upload and explain it to WWE's YouTube channel guy(s) every time, and hope they’re not cunty about it, lol.

^^^ That's WM34 on "OSW review B", one of my defunct channels

I upload the finished website episode onto a separate YouTube channel (OSW Review HD is actually our 12th channel!) and see what WWE’s YouTube bots pick up. Sometimes they just monetise the video, sometimes block.

^^^ You can see Nia Jax's photoshoot, Titus's botch at the GRR, and FOX also picked up the Ad Break Questionarium skit

With this information about what they do/don’t like, I create a spreadsheet and gauge how important it is to the overall video, and try edit it down to a smaller length. There’s nothing I can do about PPV footage (eg WM34) but the splicey can be avoided/reduced - the less uninterrupted footage I use, the stronger the case of fair use. I reckon WWE think we just hit play and talk over the PPV (let's play style) which wouldn't be fair use, and don't envisage the 200+ hours spent making the visuals extremely specific to what we're talking about 😂 When we actually listed out what we do, they were much more understanding!

^^^ OOC is a huge fan of spreadsheets.

If you're wondering, I’d be overjoyed if WWE would just monetise the video so it could be available immediately! I reckon they’re so stingy with their content so people can only see WWE on WWE’s YouTube channel. So getting the blocks overturned is the most important thing. So what I’m doing today is reducing all of the troublesome splicey so that I only have to dispute maybe 6 things, instead of 20. I reckon the guy on the other end of WWE’s YouTube channel would get a fright with 20 requests but would be ok with a handful, but I’ve no evidence to back that up! It’d take me two days to fine-tune this and upload it. Then we gotta wait 2-3 weeks for them to approve/deny it 😊

So there ya go! Something that was really cool is that one of our fans actually visited WWE HQ and asked about ourselves and Botchamania specifically, and their response was that independent video creators are actually important and helpful. I was blown away! That's a 360 (brother!) from their stance of a few years ago.

Anywoo, hope you enjoyed that look behind the curtain! I’ll be working on NoggerU stuff this week, as well Ep72’s trailer and video (coming later and at the end of the month respectively!)

A winner is you!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I see why they are uploaded to YouTube slightly later it makes sense, very subtle in changes.

Wow so much work! Really insightful thanks. It's maybe just my device but the megalist link says "unable to load recourses"?

Just an update on this (asked by @LeSensuel) YouTube is the 'proper' version! It contains tighter editing and cleaning up mistakes that only get noticed after initial release. Like the WM34 YouTube version will have more Daniel Bryan sync'd footage and shifted bits and bobs. Also I added in about a minute of new footage where V1 rants about Ziggler. He asked me specifically about it so I thought I'd make sure it goes in the final version!

2 thumbs way up Jay! Great behind the scenes post, explains a lot I had been wondering about.
