OSW 2023 in Review! [STATTOooo!] (Patreon)

Heya brahs and bras! Hope the new year is treatin' ya kindly and most of the Xmas treats are out of the house/eaten :D Before I launch into what's coming up in 2024 (next post) i thought i'd give ya a coupla of  statistics about OSW in 2023 , because who doesn’t love a bit of statto!)

In 2023 (2022 in brackets):12.8M views (up 9%)5.8M hours watch-time (down from 6.2M)+13.1K subs (up 24%)252.7M impressions (up from 182.2M)2.9% Click Through Rate (up slightly from 2.8%)27:42 Average View Duration (down from 31:22)3.2M Posts impressions (up 29%)

^^ you can see where I started posting YouTube posts daily (Nov 11th). I got the idea from RetroGameCorps (who reviews handheld gaming devices), and he checks in pretty much once a day either with an update or deals, and I appreciated it. And then I thought, hey, YOU might like to hear me do that! Also makes a bit more sense posting on YouTube, where most of our audience is, as Twitter has gone a bit loo-lah this past year.I had to check what that massive dip is (Dec 10th) and ahh, I didn't post that day.

Top 5 Episodes viewed Jan 1st to Dec 31st:TNA Bound For Glory with +362kWrestleMania XI with +271k WrestleMania 7 with +253k TNA Turning Point 2008 with +238k SWS vs WWF Watchalong (?!) with +231K And most watched anything on the channel in 2023: Lesbian Pollen with +620k!

Most Amount of OSW episodes ever with FOURTEEN! (8 TNA, 3 AEW, 3 WWF):2022 had EIGHT episodes, due to finishing the Warrior arc (ie the Golden noggers & off-season picks) and doing the Deep Dives for Resident Evil 8, Metroid Dread and God of War [all of which are like, jaysus, 2 OSW episodes worth of production each!]2023 saw 3 Film Reviews: Hobbit 2, Hard Ticket & Kung Fu-Hustle (2022 had a lot of patreon-for-everyone releases like Alien/s and Southland Tales)Worth knowing Hobbit 2 and DX-Mas ofc were recorded in 2022 but publicly released in 2023.My interpretation of this:Is good! Increased views but lower watch-time might be because we’ve had more episodes but shorter ones eg iMPACT after B4G is 63m, TNA Genesis 66m. 2023 was really the year where we just ended up taping enough for 2 episodes each recording session. Topping views with TNA rather than WCW I think is more impressive as TNA is (to be fair) extremely niche! I know a lot of creators are struggling to maintain views (as YouTube seem to just want to be a TV clip/music website) so I realise how fortunate we are -- I am extremely grateful you guys still watch 12 years in!

Largest ONE-DAY spike in viewership: AEW Fight Forever with 113K. This was suuuper weird (in a good way) in that Matt brought in a ton of viewers and it being trendy (FF was released the same day, June 28th!) meant that for a time we were getting 1.5M views in a month! It felt like we got recommended in waves as jeez the talk about AEW is quite ...emotionally-charged, shall we say.Lowest 1-Day viewership: ~20.7K in early November (the gulf between TNA Genesis in early Oct and AEW London mid-Nov)Most brown-trousers time period: December! Recording & Editing 3 hours of Xmas specials in 3 weeks was rougher than a badger's arse! Brain was absolute mush by the end so I'm glad there weren't any video-breaking editing errors. Chris, Ciaran, Dan, Ryan & V1 really smashed it.
