Nadia: Can love bloom on a battlefield built on the agonized screams of a 56k modem? Yes, but the pioneers of digital love still had to find a way to connect for prolonged periods of time in an age when severing a connection was as simple as lifting the phone receiver. This week, me and mine (David Oxford) bare it all [scandalous gasp] and talk about how we bonded over early video game fandom in the late '90s. Spoiler alert: Even back then, the Sonic fandom had a lot of...well, let's call it "extra energy."

I still vividly remember the time I copied and pasted ten pages of hot steamy textual analysis of a song from my private chat with my beloved into the main server chat of our newsgroup IRC server. Everyone was like, “where’s the cyber???”

Please accept this generic post praising, yet again, an episode where the elder millennials gather us post-2000-teenagers round the campfire to hear the lore of yore. (Mind you the post-dialup, pre-socmed days of web forums and fan sites still went hard. It was brilliant going to a "Zelda Universe" hosted panel at PAX Aus 2017!)

Appreciated this very personal episode. Sometimes it’s really nice to hear retro reminiscences like this. 😊 Hope you two have a wonderful more 25 years together. 🙏

RE: Nadia's disdain for cursive. The last time I was required to write in cursive was a 7th grade SCIENCE class of all things. We were supposed to write everything in a journal and turn it in at the end of the year to be graded. I turned mine in without a lick of cursive and took the hit to my grade. The good news is, nobody gives a hoot how you did in your 7th grade science class.

Wonderful episode as always! It was so nice listening to the anecdotes of a nerdy couple that lives in Toronto, a city close to home. Loved all the references to places in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) such as Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, Yorkdale and Wonderland.

This was a wonderful episode to listen to; exactly what the world needs more of in 2026.

There's enough information between X2 and X3 to deduce that Wily created Zero. At the end of X2 Sigma says Zero was "last of the Doctor's creations"; he doesn't say *which* doctor but with X3's ending saying X has to destroy Zero, all the pieces are there, you just have to put them together. Sounds like you were both in Sonic fandom around the same time I was. I don't remember either one of you (and kind of hope you don't remember me) but I guess there's a good chance we crossed paths. Also: I was listening to this episode in the car on the way to the comic shop. They had some stuff left over from Free Comic Book Day so I snagged the Mega Man comic. Got home and wouldn't you know it, there's a story by David Oxford in there. Funny old life.
