It's official: After three full-length episodes on Capcom's groundbreaking video game, we've exhausted the topic of Street Fighter II. Naturally our series must continue, but just like Capcom, we can't simply count to 3 just yet! No, we've got to establish what all these characters were up to before Street Fighter II took place, so this week we're covering the 1995 anime-tastic arcade game Street Fighter Alpha.

Diamond Feit slides in to seize the hosting reins away from Jeremy Parish, as the two of them face off against returning guest Brandon Sheffield. Can our regular contributors stand their ground against an outsider with insider knowledge on Street Fighter? There's only one way to find out!

Loving the SF episodes so far, and we're getting to those that I have the most nostalgia for. I really dug the look of the Alpha games: Between Alpha 3 and SF3, the series hit its visual peak - beautiful sprite work.

I remember saving up money for an N64 when I was a kid, but I ended up splurging on SF Alpha on Playstation, and it was awesome

Loved it. I hope Alpha 4 actually happens… didn’t even think about that. As far as a moonshot as that seems, I think it would do great. They’ve got V done now and VI right around the corner so I’m not too optimistic it’ll ever happen unfortunately.

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying all of the new hosts. Nadia, Stewart and Diamond fit the tone of the show perfectly but bring exciting new perspectives.

So excited that you've reached the Alpha series. Alpha 2/3 are still my favorite editions of Street Fighter, along with 3rd Strike. I'm not as familiar with the first game having only played a few times at the arcade and then renting it on Playstation. I think someone on the podcast said that Ingrid is in SFV. That's not true, but you can get an Ingrid costume for Karin.

The discussion of Sodom and the cultural appropriation of foods. About a year ago I witnessed a short lived ground swell around this idea, that it was wrong for people to consume meals that were outside their native heritage. Culinary segregation if you will. Luckily it died off quickly. Personally I would rather die than be forced to sustain myself exclusively on the boiled, flavorless pig slop of my great great grand parents. Especially when I'm within walking distance from great sushi and Indian food.

Enjoyed this episode, did Alpha actually come out or was developed for the CPS1? I thought it was CPS2 and there was a port to the CPS Changer (which is based on the cps1).

you guys really need to get someone from the FGC like James Chen on if you're going to call these deep dives. The FGC is integral to telling the story of SF
