Previously in Episode #447, host Diamond Feit, ko-host Stuart Gipp, and Long Live Mortal Kombat author David L. Craddock united to defend earth from Outworld invaders by podkasting about the original Mortal Kombat. However, their mission was far from Komplete, as there's a lot more Konflict in MK Kanon to Kome.

(alright, no more konspikuous Ks, I promise)

Therefore, we have reconvened so that we might trek to Outworld to cover the much-celebrated Mortal Kombat II, then return to Earth to stand against the forces of evil and discuss Mortal Kombat 3. These two games—and their revisions—represent the last hurrah of the series as originally imagined: Real actors performing real punches and kicks in order to portray larger-than-life characters. Will there be more Mortal Kombat on Retronauts? Perhaps, but when that day comes, we'll need the power of polygons…

It would have been pretty funny if you'd written "kelebrated" with a k.

When the SNES version of MK2 came out, a friend and I went through the trouble of playing through 250 consecutive versus battles to see if it accessed the easter egg of playing a game of Pong. Sadly, it didn't. But we did find out the match counter resets after 100. Man I was obsessed with that game!

Legit one of the best podcast I've heard in a long while; Super informative with info I haven't heard before & I am a huge MK 1 - 3 fan. Great Stuff guys, can't wait for your analysis of part 4!

Talking about stage fatalities, as much as Liu Kang's MK1 fatality sucked, it WAS cool that it triggered the fall into The Pit at least.

Derek Williams

Stuart brought up that the next MK would probably be announced by the time this went live, but not even he could've predicted it would be called "Mortal Kombat 1" and make it really confusing every time you guys referred to the original MK.

Bought craddock's book on Diablo via audible. I really like being introduced to authors on retronauts. Thanks, everyone!

Sounds like Daniel Pesina believed so many rumors about the game's hidden characters that he thought he WAS actually a playable character forevermore. The discussion of the fatalities was hilarious. No, I never thought about Mileena having to digest the clothes of her opponents or Baraka having to remove a corpse from his blades. Did he just lower his arms and have them slide down? Did he shake his arms and further flay them open to release his blades?

Rory Starks

Daniel Pesina never once broke kayfabe, even when it cost him the job. Shame.

I loved Mortal Kombat II and found out about Mortal Kombat 3 was when my mom surprised me with a kopy of the MK3 issue of Nintendo Power. Although I ultimately ended up not really much karing for Mortal Kombat 3, 28 years later I still look back fondly upon that issue and the random act of motherly kindness. Let's give it up for awesome moms!

A little late to this one, but this was a fantastic episode! Genuinely in my top Retronauts episodes.

I did like that in MK3 you could knock your opponent into other stages with uppercuts, even if it did have little impact on the overall match

Absolutely banging episode! Forever a MK3 fan but all points regarding its faults were absolutely valid. Can’t wait to read Long Live Mortal Kombat, also can’t wait for an MK4 episode!
