The Hunter's Serenade Ch. 01 (Official Release) (Patreon)

The rhythmic thuds of boots and armor rang in the dark maroon hallways of King Gornu’s Palace. An ominous imposing bounty hunter strode silently behind two Hyraxian honor guards. The bounty hunter was clad in black plated tactical armor with various orange symbols and accents; a matching hooded cloak hung off the imposing figure’s right shoulder.
The guards halted as they approached a grand set of doors built on an intimidating scale. As the gates parted the guards opened a passage for the armored figure with seamless, silent efficiency. The two colossal, hound-like sentinels flanking the entrance couldn't help but betray a visible unease, clearly overawed by his commanding presence.
Once inside, the bounty hunter observed his most recent employer sitting on a large satin bed with several of his concubines surrounding him as he puffed some Spice.
“Oh oh oh! Sev!” King Gornu bellowed, taking a big puff from his Spice hookah. “I’m glad to see that you have returned so soon. Can I safely assume that the job is done?” he queried rubbing his fat green belly.
"Yes, the job is complete," the bounty hunter responded in a tone bereft of emotion. With a deliberate, almost ceremonious motion, he unfurled his cloak, revealing a mysterious brown sack that was securely fastened. As he offered the enigmatic package to the portly king, Gornu raised one of his bushy brows, signaling one of his servant girls to approach and take possession of the sack.
A red-maned maiden, clad in seductive crimson attire, rose gracefully. As she obediently approached the bounty hunter, she cast an alluring presence in the lavish chamber.
As the slave girl drew ever nearer to the bounty hunter with graceful steps, her presence resonated with him. His aggressive V-shaped visor fixated on her, peering deeply into the very essence of her being. Her siren-green eyes seemed to hide secrets, ones that triggered a sense of recognition within the enigmatic figure beneath the helmet.
Just as her fingers grazed the sack, his gloved hand shot out, closing like a vise around her delicate wrist. A sharp gasp escaped her lips, her eyes locking onto the menacing hunter's visor. Fear spread through her, evident in the widening of her eyes as they delved into the infinite depths of the helmet's abyss. She sensed something, perhaps a vague inkling of familiarity or dread, but the visor revealed nothing. Only an unforgiving, resolute gaze that seemed to pierce her very soul.
“Do we have an issue, Sev? May I ask why you have your hands on my precious property?” Gornu growled in a cautiously threatening tone. The bounty hunter who was known to Gornu by the name Sev, remained unresponsive. His focus on the slave girl's enigmatic countenance remained unwavering. The king, sensing a growing tension, cautiously pushed himself to a sitting position.
Before the situation could escalate further, Sev relinquished his grip on the girl's wrist and redirected his attention back to the rotund lord, as if the brief interlude had been nothing more than a fleeting shadow in the grand tapestry of their meeting.
“There’s no issue, my lord,” he answered coolly. “It’s just that your …concubine seems a little familiar…” Sev pointed out rather suspiciously. The redhead redirected the gaze of green eyes to the floor, wary of uttering a single word.
“Ho oh oh!” Gornu bellowed with pride. “She is one of my new prized possessions! I just got her recently! Gaha!”
“Is that right?” Sev quietly muttered to himself, his suspicion lingering under his breath.
“Emma! Come, bring me the sack,” Gornu summoned the red-maned slave girl with a commanding tone. Sev’s suspicions were proven correct right then and there about the girl. The bounty hunter couldn’t help but shake his head in disapproval. “Never thought she would end up in a place like this,” he reflected inwardly. He knew Emma well. As well as an adversary could, at least. She had always been a pain in the neck to deal with since she had often taken out contracts that were directly opposed to the interests of his own employers.
Sev wasn’t sure exactly how he felt. On the one hand, it was gratifying to see her in her current predicament; Emma had cost him quite a few jobs. Yet, he was curious how she had managed to get herself caught like this. But he had no time to acquire the details: he just wanted to take his reward and depart this hell hole of a planet as quickly as possible.
Accepting the sack from his slave's trembling hands, King Gornu unsealed it in leisurely fashion, only gradually revealing the gruesome sight within. As Gornu peeled back the fabric, the severed head of one of his rival Spice cartel lords appeared. Its appearance sent a shiver through the room: its lifeless eyes were rolled back in their sockets; a tongue lolled out of its slack mouth. A sizable hole located precisely in the middle of the forehead strongly suggested the method by which the demise of the king’s rival had been achieved.
The king's grin widened, radiating satisfaction, as he observed the macabre trophy with satisfaction before calmly sealing the sack. "Gaha! I am immensely pleased with your work, Sev. I should have brought you into my service far earlier!" Gornu boomed with delight, taking another puff of Spice.
“Would you mind indulging me with a few details about how you managed to execute your assignment?” the fat pig queried, still basking in the success of the job.
“I don’t have time for small talk. All that matters is that the job is done. You contracted for the end result, not for the purchase of my trade secrets,” Sev replied in a slightly irritated voice. Gornu cocked his brow, his previous smile of satisfaction now briefly displaced by a snarling hostility.
Gornu quickly poured a honeyed tone over his momentary loss of composure. “Hm, I suppose you’re right. This job is done, that’s all that matters.” Gornu slowly nodded, sensing the baleful bounty hunter’s impatience. The king snapped his fingers, causing another of his slave girls to appear bearing a suitcase. “Your payment, as agreed upon,” Gornu said, with seeming graciousness.
Accepting the suitcase from the girl’s hands, Sev unlocked it and cautiously cracked it open, disclosing stacks of unique and rare-looking metal alloys. Closing the suitcase, Sev nodded in approval. “Are they to your liking?” Gornu asked, verifying that Sev was content with his payment.
“Yes, this will suffice nicely. It’s been a pleasure doing business,” Sev answered, offering a small two-fingered salute. Gornu, relieved that the transaction had ended smoothly, let out a small sigh of relief.
“Hmm, it’s been a pleasure… I hope we can do more business. I have no shortage of jobs lined up that require a person in possession of your talents. Just give my bounty liaison a call whenever you desire, ho ho ho!” Giving a slight nod, Sev took one last look at the red-headed girl before departing the king’s personal chamber.
As the enigmatic bounty hunter departed, King Gornu reached out and grabbed the red-maned slave girl, his touch invasive. He questioned her, "Have you had any prior acquaintance with that man?"
Emma, with a slow nod, replied, her voice barely above a whisper, "Yeah, you could say something like that, Master. He was an adversary in my former life…" She attempted to recover her equanimity, acutely aware of her master's dominating presence.
-
Back on his ship, the bounty hunter stowed the suitcase containing the valuable alloys in his personal safe. He then settled into the cockpit and initiated contact with his personal AI.
"Kira," he called out.
"Yes, boss? I observed that everything proceeded smoothly. Well done," a female voice responded from within his helmet.
Sev, a hint of vindication in his tone, retorted, "Yes, as usual. I've told you to cease doubting me all the time."
Kira, being well-informed as always, promptly interjected, "Job number 567 has been logged in the database."
“Sorry, Sev. I’m just analyzing the statistics. King Gornu is a highly erratic factor,” the feminine AI tried to clarify. “He could have gone back on his word and possibly tried to kill you.” Sev shook his head and started to tinker with the controls of his ship as he listened to her explanation.
He paused briefly to contemplate the array of adverse consequences if the mission had gone wrong. Sev was forced to reluctantly agree with his trusty AI that King Gornu was indeed an erratic employer. But fortune favored the bold. What he had been seeking was of elusive rarity nowadays. The rotund warlord had been the only being within a hundred parsecs who had the know-how and the leverage to obtain the Hyperium Alloy.
But after running the whole job quickly back through his mind, Sev nodded affirmatively to himself. He was still confident that he would be able to handle whatever came his way if things were to go sour with King Gornu. He was, after all, one of the most notorious and dangerous independent bounty hunters in the galaxy.
“So, Sev, may I ask why you needed more Hyperium? You still haven’t told me anything,” Kira queried in a slightly whiny tone. ”Your armor is in no need of repair. And it seems safe to assume that you aren’t just going to turn around and sell it off, given how hard it was to obtain in the first place.” The curious AI listed several increasingly unlikely speculations as to why he had needed to go to such lengths to acquire the surpassingly rare alloy. But to her dismay, the bounty hunter refused to elaborate any further.
Beneath his helmet, Sev chuckled lowly at his AI’s curious conclusions. "What's the matter? Have something to share? Come on, please tell me." Shaking his head while still wearing an amused grin, he ignited the ship's engines. A powerful, high-pitched rumble cascaded through the entire cockpit and cabin, signaling the ship's readiness for action.
"I'll let you in on it once we're clear of orbit," Sev informed the AI. He couldn't see her, but he could hear the faint excitement in Kira's response, a small and intrigued giggle.
"Set Input coordinates for the Conclave," he commanded as he deftly guided the ship, initiating the course for their next destination.
“Understood, boss. Inputting coordinates for the Conclave,” Kira obediently answered.
Lifting off from the landing pad, the ship executed a swift ascent, hurtling upward into the planet's turbulent atmosphere. It sliced through the layers of thick, orange-tinged clouds that shrouded the skies over Abogon. The vessel quivered under the strain of the rapid ascent, but the seasoned bounty hunter barely registered the turbulence, maintaining an unwavering focus on the next item on his to-do list.
Breaking free of the planet's murky atmosphere, the vessel swiftly entered the inky expanse of space. With a confident nod, Sev relinquished control of the ship to his capable AI and settled back in his seat, ready to make the jump into the vast cosmos.
"Coordinates for the Conclave locked in. Jump space drives primed. Temporal harmonics stabilized. Engaging quantum inhibitors..." Kira relayed the vital systems check, going through the routine procedures with precision. "Are you ready, boss?" she inquired. Sev gave an affirmative nod in response.
Kira continued with an air of readiness, "Initiating faster-than-light-speed jump sequence."
Kira began the countdown, "Launching in three... two... one..." In an instant, the ship surged forward at incredible speeds, piercing the fabric of spacetime. The view through the cockpit window transformed into a mesmerizing tunnel of cerulean streaks of light as they hurtled through the enigmatic realms of jump space.
As the ship translated across the surreal hallucinations of jump space, Sev couldn't help but shake his head. An uneasy feeling lingered in his mind and an expression of mild irritation flitted across his features. The abrupt transition and the characteristic whiplash of jump space travel were sensations he had never quite gotten used to, no matter how many faster-than-light-speed jumps he'd undertaken.
Still pensive and vaguely out of sorts, Sev rose smoothly up out of his seat and paced pantherishly over to his well-organized weapons locker, where he began offloading his equipment. With well-practiced motions, he fluidly but methodically unburdened himself, one piece of gear at a time. Unbuckling his utility belt, he laid it out carefully on a nearby workbench. He unlatched his ammunition pouches and performed a brief munitions check. Only then did he begin to unholster the varied assortment of weapons that had served him so well.
As he continued to unload his gear, Kira gently prodded Sev's memory, "Um, boss? Didn't you say that you were gonna explain why you needed all that Hyperium?" Sev nodded in response to her reminder.
"Right..." Sev uttered, his voice carrying a thoughtful undertone, as he finished the soothing task of polishing his trusty railgun. Glancing over at his cozy-looking bunk that was shielded by an opaque curtain, he said, “The Hyperium, it’s for her.”
“For her?” Kira repeated in a confused tone. Then, recalling something important, she exclaimed in realization. “Oh, right. Of course. Duh. I forgot she was still here. Is she still asleep? Why don’t you go check on her, boss?” Sev headed his AI’s suggestion and strode over to his bunk.
As he drew the curtain gently aside, a woman came into view, her appearance giving the impression that she was unclothed beneath a loosely draped blanket. Her disheveled, pixie-bobbed black hair gracefully framed her face, and her lips were softly parted in the midst of tranquil slumber. But what most caught the eye was a subtle, discreet religious cross tattoo etched beneath her left eye, adding an intriguing touch to her visage.
“How the hell does she sleep through all of that?” Kira wondered aloud in reference to the turbulent journey their vessel had undergone, escaping from Abogon’s atmosphere and jolting into jump space.
“How am I supposed to know? She’s always been a heavy sleeper,” Sev remarked, scratching the top of his helmet.
“Right, and how sure are you that you want to go through with this?” Kira asked, alluding to something unstated. “Will she even accept your offer? I know you’ve known her for a long time but, well, she doesn't really seem like that type of girl. Are you really that into her?”
"I'm certain. She is one of a kind..." Sev replied, his tone filled with deep sincerity as he cast a glance at the peacefully slumbering woman.
“Huh, whatever you say, boss. This is a tradition of your people, so I’ll support you no matter what,” Kira assured him. Sev nodded, taking a moment to gaze at the sleeping woman beneath him and appreciate her beauty and elegance.
Sev had always been a lone wolf, and he rarely sought out partnerships with others. He preferred to operate solo, relying mainly on his trusted companion, Kira. This had been his confirmed mode of operation for a long time. However, everything had changed the moment he first crossed paths with Serina, the woman who now slumbered serenely aboard his vessel.
Sev had been well aware of Serina long before they had ever become properly acquainted. Both were renowned as among the top independent bounty hunters in the galaxy, and their reputations often preceded them. Sev's path had crossed with Serina's on numerous occasions during various jobs. However, their respective employers had typically found themselves on opposing ends of the spectrum, leading to a professional rivalry between the two. Despite the conflicts, a deep-seated mutual respect had developed over time.
Their encounters took a turn for the better when a job that Sev had undertaken resulted in the demise of most of Serina's employers. While she wasn't thrilled to find out that she had been involuntarily unemployed, she had at least been spared from sharing their fate as she had been engaged in a different assignment at the time. When Serina was left with no other options and nowhere to go, Sev extended a kind gesture as a way of making amends, recommending her proficient services to his own employers. Serina, though initially skeptical, ultimately accepted the offer, forging a new partnership that would alter the course of their bounty-hunting careers.
In the wake of their alliance, Sev and Serina started collaborating on various jobs, and this shared experience deepened their connection. Sev found himself acknowledging the benefits of working alongside another professional, despite his previous dedication to operating solo. Admittedly, they had to weather some initial tension due to their differing approaches and techniques but, with time, they had managed to overcome these disparities. As they adapted to each other's strengths and methods, a natural synergy developed, transforming them into a formidable and highly effective bounty-hunting duo.
Over the course of their partnership, there were inevitably moments of downtime between missions. However, they tended to gravitate back to each other's company. Eventually, one thing led to another, and they found themselves sharing an intimate connection. Sev wasn't one to actively seek out romantic involvements, especially with someone he considered a professional companion. But Serina was different: he was attracted to her determination and self-assuredness. In fact, it was she who took the initiative; it was a bit awkward, at first, given their professional history. Yet, as they continued to spend time together during their moments of respite, it became clear that their bond extended beyond the professional sphere.
As Sev continued to gaze upon Serina’s peacefully sleeping form from behind his visor, he failed to realize that her piercing amber eyes were now wide open and mirroring his stare right back at him. “Whatcha staring at, tiger?” Serina playfully quipped in a raspy voice.
As she slowly sat up, the blanket loosely draped across her chest slipped down and her perky D-cup breasts sprang out of cover. Still shaded by his helmet, Sev’s eyes were naturally drawn to her alluring mammaries. Reaching over, he plucked up the blanket and raised it back over her chest.
“Oops! Hmm, thank you. You are such a gentleman,” Serina chuckled warmly as she took the blanket into her own grip. Scanning her surroundings, she scratched her head as if she were not yet fully awake. “Hmm, what’s going on? Where are we?” she wondered, as she yawned.
“I had to pick up a bounty from Abogon. We just took off from there and we’re currently in jump space,” Sev informed, deliberately withholding their destination for now. Serina’s eyes shot open in surprise.
“Abogon?? How long have I been out?” the pixie-haired bounty hunter exclaimed, sounding a bit bemused.
"Hm... you've been in bed since we left Novus..." he responded, his gloved hand idly rubbing the chin of his helmet. "I'll never figure out how you manage to sleep through all this," Sev continued, his voice carrying a quiet chuckle.
"Hey, if you grow up on Terminus, you can sleep through anything. And after what you put me through last night, you can’t blame a girl for sleeping in," Serina chuckled, teasingly. Sev shook his head at her brashness. "But let's not dwell on that,” she said. “How did things go with King Gornu? It's been quite some time since my last visit to that wretched planet," she inquired, curious about the outcome of Sev's recent mission.
"It actually went surprisingly well," Sev replied as he took a seat on the side of the bunk. However, his thoughts quickly turned to a particular encounter that made him quietly chuckle.
"What's so amusing?" Serina inquired, moving closer to her armored companion and idly fiddling with his chest plate.
"Remember Emma? 'The Autumn Fox'?" Sev asked.
"Yeah, of course I do. What about her?" Serina responded, growing more curious.
"It might sound kind of crazy, but she's now one of Gornu's slave girls," Sev revealed. Serina's amber eyes widened in surprise.
"No way..." Serina exclaimed, her tone reflecting her astonishment. "Heh, she had it coming to her. That arrogant bitch... well, it's a shame I couldn't get to her before that fat bastard. Hm, but I guess her current fate is rather befitting," she voiced her thoughts aloud, her grip inadvertently tightening on one of Sev's harnesses. Serina had her own history with Emma. As with Sev, Serina and Emma’s employment had often led to them working against each other. However, unlike Sev, Serina had developed no mutual respect for Emma.
As she shook her head to refocus her thoughts, Serina’s grip on Sev's harness loosened. "So, what kind of reward did you get from King Gornu?" she prodded, her curiosity getting the better of her. Sev paused for a moment, contemplating his response. He didn't want to reveal too much, but he knew that Serina had a way of seeing through any lies. He had no doubt that she'd extract the truth even if it meant prying it from his lifeless form.
"Hyperium," Sev provided a succinct response. Serina's grip on his harness tightened again.
"Hyperium? So that's why you took that job..." she deduced, the pieces falling into place in her mind. "How much are we talking about? Your armor still seems in good shape," she noted as she traced her fingers across his chest plate, her curiosity pushing her to seek further details.
"Let's just say I acquired enough for a full set of armor for a certain someone," Sev vaguely hinted. Serina raised an intrigued eyebrow.
"Oh? Would this 'certain someone' happen to be anywhere nearby?" she played along with his deliberate ambiguity.
"Very," Sev confirmed with a sly smile hidden behind his helmet. Serina grinned from ear to ear at what he was implying.
She had always harbored a deep desire for a set of Hyperium armor. Its reputation preceded it as a technological marvel, boasting not only remarkable lightness but also unrivaled durability, which in turn made it almost impervious to even the most formidable weapon fire. Yet, the coveted Hyperium armor was a closely guarded treasure of the Valkorians, a space-faring people deeply rooted in a warrior culture. Their physical resemblance to humans was where the similarities ended. Valkorians were renowned throughout the galaxy for their exceptional combat skills, not to mention their unmatched strength, razor-sharp instincts, and cunning strategies. But all these traits were underlain by their indomitable, unbreakable will to victory.
To possess a set of Hyperium armor was to attain the pinnacle of protection and aesthetic appeal. It wasn't just a matter of accumulating enough of the rare Hyperium metal; it was the intricate craftsmanship, known only to the specialized Valkorian armorsmiths, that rendered it almost impossible to replicate. The secrets of the Valkorian armorsmiths were tightly safeguarded, never shared with any who lacked Valkorian heritage. However, there were rumors that the Coalition - the dominant governing force in the galaxy - was trying to replicate the method. But those were only rumors.
For anyone else who dared to dream of obtaining this revered armor, the pursuit was fraught with peril. Even if one were to acquire a set by some stroke of fortune, perhaps from the fallen body of a Valkorian, it was only a matter of time before the Valkorian community learned of the theft and set in motion a relentless mission to recover their cherished artifact. The stolen armor, as alluring as it might be, often came with a steep price: the wrath of a proud and unforgiving people.
Deeply grateful for her Valkorian partner's generous offer, Serina wrestled with a formidable obstacle that cast a shadow over her aspirations. She wasn't Valkorian; she was a mere human. Despite her remarkable combat skills, the unalterable fact was that she did not share their lineage. While her abilities might allow her to blend in, a constant undercurrent of impostor syndrome gnawed at her confidence. The ever-present fear of being unmasked by a true Valkorian weighed heavily on her, with the awareness that the potential consequences of exposure could be dire. Even if Sev was one of their own, there was nothing he could do to change her outsider status.
"Sev... I don't think this would work. Your people, they would know," Serina voiced her concerns somberly, her worry etched across her face. She couldn't help but question why he would go to such lengths, almost committing blasphemy by offering a coveted set of armor to an outsider like her. Even if he vouched, it was highly unlikely that such an act would be permitted by the Valkorian Elders. Despite her reservations, though, a warm feeling enveloped her: if nothing else, his offer was a clear testament to how deeply he cared for her.
However, Sev exuded confidence, as if he already held the answer to Serina's concerns. "What? Don't you have something to say? Anything??" Serina wondered, her curiosity piqued.
"There is a way for you to possess this armor legitimately," Sev revealed. Serina arched an eyebrow and nodded slowly, signaling for him to continue. "I'm not sure how you'll feel about this, but here goes nothing," Sev said, taking a moment to prepare his explanation. He knew that Serina valued her strength and independence, and his offer could potentially conflict with her principles.
“Well, spit it out,” Serina urged her eagerness rapidly eroding her patience. Taking a deep breath before nodding affirmatively, Sev clutched Serina’s hands, holding them tightly together.
“You would have to be my woman,” he finally revealed.
Serina felt a rush of emotions as his words hung in the air. She had never anticipated a conversation like this, and it left her torn between flattery and confusion. They had shared an unspoken arrangement, a companionship with benefits, and she'd grown accustomed to that dynamic. Now, confronted with the prospect of a formal commitment, she had to reconfigure the shape of their relationship in her mind and heart.
They had always been discreet about their connection in public, rendering it less apparent to outsiders, but their bond undeniably ran deeper than casual encounters. Some of their colleagues had noticed, gossiping and making assumptions about them. Perhaps they had come across as more of a couple than Serina had previously realized.
Serina's lengthy pause for internal contemplation seemed to cut through the tension in the room. At least she hadn’t rejected the notion outright. “Okay, so, I’m not totally opposed to the idea of being your woman. "Alright, I'm not entirely against the idea of becoming your woman. Let’s just say I am. How that will help me get this armor?" Serina inquired, breaking the silence.
Sev took a deep breath before elaborating further. There was more important information he needed to explain—more that was involved than simply deciding to become a couple.
Gently squeezing Serina's hands, Sev hastened to clarify. When he spoke again, his voice held a mixture of uncertainty and determination. "To legitimately own a set of this armor, you would have to be formally inducted by a Valkorian Elder. It's not just a matter of declaring a relationship; a candidate needs to prove their worth. Traditionally, this requires a candidate to pass rigorous tests: you would need to demonstrate your commitment to our cause."
Sev paused, his gaze fixed on Serina's. "However, in your case, I can vouch for you since I seek for you to become my woman, which should make things easier. But it's not a decision to be taken lightly, Serina. The armor represents our heritage, our traditions, and our responsibility. It's not just about appearances; it's a symbol of the deeper connection we share with the Valkorian legacy."
Serina nodded in understanding. The weight of Sev's request had settled in, and she realized the gravity of what he was asking of her. While the allure of the armor had intrigued her, Sev's offer clearly held a deep personal significance. It was a connection to a world she had never anticipated becoming a part of.
This moment, this opportunity, felt entirely foreign to her. Never in her life had she imagined that she would be presented with such a momentous choice, a path leading to a culture and a heritage she had only glimpsed in stories and shared moments with Sev. As she considered the possibilities, Serina couldn't help but wonder how this decision might change her life forever.
As Serina locked her gaze onto Sev's visor, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to this request. "There's more to it, isn't there?" She voiced her suspicion, and Sev's slow nod confirmed her intuition.
Sev elaborated further, his voice carrying a mixture of seriousness and affection. "Once you are accepted, it's a lifelong commitment. You will be considered mine, and we will be bound to each other for life. As a symbol of our connection, you'll have my insignia tattooed on your body, signifying our link."
Serina's emotions were a whirlwind. She had always cherished her independence, but this prospect felt intensely intimate, stirring emotions she had rarely experienced. It was a significant decision that would not only change her life but her identity as well.
Sev continued to explain, his voice soft and earnest. "Only then, would you be officially recognized as a Valkorian. You would become one of us, even though you aren't of our blood." His gaze and his tone conveyed a weight, a sense of belonging, that transcended mere words.
He went on, "If you ever encounter another Valkorian, your insignia will be the sign that to them that you belong with us, regardless of your heritage." The significance of what he was offering and the depth of their connection became even clearer to Serina.
As he softly spoke again, Sev's voice carried a hint of uncertainty. "I know this is a lot to ask, an immensity of complications you have never asked for." There was a vulnerable edge to his words, but it was also clear that this was something he deeply desired.
Serina's heart raced as she considered the magnitude of the choice laid before her. Affection and anxiety swirled within her, knowing that becoming a Valkorian was a rare and legendary opportunity. Sev's commitment to her was palpable, it thrummed through the connection of their tightly gripped hands.
With her eyes closed, Serina drew a deep breath, gathering her courage and resolve. She opened her eyes and met Sev's visor with unwavering determination. "I accept your offer," she declared. “I will be your woman.” The transformation in Sev's armored demeanor was immediate and unmistakable as if the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders, and he radiated a sense of pride and joy at her decision.
In a wordless moment of gratitude, Sev pulled Serina into a tight embrace. She couldn't help but emit a small, surprised sound as she felt her delicate, nude body pressed against his solid armor. "Thank you," he murmured softly, his voice filled with genuine appreciation and the deepest admiration. Serina responded with a warm smile, her heart swelling with affection for him.
As they parted from the embrace, Sev reached for his helmet, then lifted it halfway, just enough to reveal his mouth and nose. His sharp jawline and the small scar across his right jaw became visible. Leaning towards each other, they tenderly pressed their lips together. Their kiss was deep and filled with warm affection, eventually evolving into a bout of steamy tongue action. However, Sev pulled away before things could go any further.
As he pulled his helmet back down, Serina couldn't help but snarl in annoyance. Underneath that helmet, Sev was an undeniably attractive man, but he almost never took the darn thing off. The only times she ever got to see his face were in moments of intimacy, which always left her longing to know him more fully.
Gazing deeply into each other’s eyes, they each felt that their relationship was reaching a new peak. Sev and Serina felt as happy as they ever had. Who would have thought that a pair of stone-cold killer bounty hunters could find romance amid the chaos and desperation of a conflict-riddled galaxy?
Kira's unexpected interjection abruptly shattered their intimate moment. "Awww, this is just so sweet. You two are going to make me cry," the AI chimed in from the speaker in Sev’s helmet. The look in Serina's eyes, which had just been filled with warmth, flashed instantly to one of frustration and annoyance at the rude interruption to their private moment.
"Dammit, Kira! Don't you understand the very basics of emotional intimacy?" Serina hissed. Kira giggled in response as Serina vented her feelings further. "Don't you have anything better to do?"
Kira's virtual voice held a hint of mischief. "I do, but I couldn't help it! I'm stuck in Sev's head!" she exclaimed, as if her presence there formed some kind of an excuse for her intrusion.
Finding himself caught in the middle of their argument, Sev decided to intervene by refocusing their attention. "Kira, how long until we reach our destination?" he interjected calmly, his voice cutting through their squabble.
Kira, quick to comply with her owner's request, replied, "About two more hours until we reach the Conclave." Her prompt response defused the momentary tension.
Sev attempted to stand up, but his arm was suddenly grabbed and used to pull him back down onto the bunk. Swiveling his helmeted head around, he saw Serina, her eyes glowing with her eagerness to keep him close. She teased him with a low, seductive voice, "Where do you think you're going, mister?"
Sev couldn't help but smirk beneath his helmet, fully aware of where she wanted this to lead. However, he had pressing matters to attend to. "Not right now. I have things I need to settle with some of my contacts," he explained, his voice firm, yet tinged with a touch of regret.
Serina, undeterred, arched a challenging brow and tugged at his arm even harder this time. "You can't be serious right now. You get a girl all hot and riled up after committing to you, and you'd rather do work stuff? I can't believe you," she snapped. Sev squinted his eyes at her from behind his visor, torn between his desires and responsibilities.
Serina continued to press her case, her voice now laced with allure. "You have your trusty AI. Why don't you let her take over for you?" Her suggestion was accompanied by a suggestive smile, and Kira was quick to jump in with a protest.
"Hey! That's not fair!" Kira chimed in, trying to defend herself. However, Serina simply rolled her siren-like amber eyes and pulled her Valkorian lover even closer, brushing a hand against his armored chest.
"Come on," Serina whispered, her voice filled with longing, "Don't you want to consummate our bond?" Sev felt his blood pumping, his helmeted head spinning at the intensity of Serina's commitment, the allure of the moment nearly irresistible.
Sev activated the tacpad on his left forearm, deftly inputting commands. "Kira, send a report about ‘The Autumn Fox’ to 'Allfather’," he instructed, his voice steady. He added, "And would you give us some privacy for an hour or two?"
Kira let out a resigned sigh. "Of course, boss," she responded dutifully. With a brief acknowledgment, she promptly shut down her access to Sev’s helmet, respecting their need for privacy, and leaving Sev and Serina to explore their moment uninterrupted.
Now that they were alone, Sev and Serina gazed at each other with burning affection and arousal. “So, are you gonna get out of that armor and join me?” Serina teased in an alluring voice. Rolling his eyes under his helmet, Sev nodded in agreement and proceeded to rid himself of his Hyperium armor.

Serina moaned in the darkness of the claustrophobic bunk. Her long legs hung in the air as Sev thrust himself into her with exceptional vigor. The air was thick and musty as their sloshing sexes sparred with one another.
“Oh! Fuck! Sev!” Serina moaned, her legs firmly wrapped around his waist and her hands clawing at Sev’s back, her nails inscribing the many scars with which it was littered. She fervently pulled him deeper. Electric shocks of pleasure pulsed through her body, his cock filling her perfectly as he rhythmically slammed himself against her cervix.
Serina loved the times when she and Sev were able to get intimate. Even if it was more like fucking than making love. Sev had just as much prowess in bed as he did in combat. He was unsurpassed, which only made him more attractive to Serina. She’d had a few men in her life, but none of them had ever reached her expectations. She had almost given up on having sex until she met Sev. He could take her to heights of pleasure she had never reached before, and then take her even higher!
Yes, she prided herself on her strength and independence but, in bed, she loved nothing more than getting thoroughly ravaged. Perhaps that’s why she hadn’t enjoyed the past men of her life. None of them had come close to fucking her as good as Sev did.
With skill and precision, Sev rolled his hips unremittingly into Serina as he feasted his eyes upon his lover. She failed to return his gaze: her amber eyes were rolled back and glazed with lust. Her mouth hung open sexily as she exhaled steamy puffs of air.
Serina tried to keep eye contact with her Valkorian lover but the strength of his rolling hips kept overriding her intent, he was just rocking her to her core. His serious dark eyes dominated hers as he grunted and thrust deep into her. The clapping of their flesh reverberated within the small confines of the bunk.
As Serina released her grip from Sev's muscular back, she gently cupped his cheeks. She relished the rare opportunity to gaze into his handsome face, a sight she didn't get to enjoy as often as she liked. The knowledge that she was perhaps the only person who knew what he truly looked like filled her with a sense of satisfaction. It was like having her own personal secret, a connection that was uniquely theirs.
Planting his hands on either side of Serina’s head, Sev leaned down and locked lips with hers. The two breathed heavily through their nostrils as their tongues twirled and danced.
As they pulled back from their kiss, webs of their mixed saliva still connected their lips. Sev bore a satisfied smirk on his face at how he had reduced Serina to a moaning mess beneath him. She rolled her eyes as she saw that familiar look on his face. “Ah… Sev… stop looking at me like that…” Serina playfully objected in a breathy voice.
Sev chuckled and replied, “Sorry, I can’t help it. I just made one of the fiercest women in the galaxy mine…” His words caused Serina to feel things. Her principles demanded that she not belong to anyone other than herself. But it just felt so right to surrender emotionally and sexually to Sev. Being bonded to this enigmatic Valkorian felt natural to her deepest self. As if she had been instinctually destined to defer to him.
Her pupils dilated and her body heated up as she thought about her future with Sev. She gazed up at the chiseled man above her as he pounded her soaking wet pussy. Serina contemplated her new role as Sev's woman, realizing that as a mere human, she was now bonded to a genetically superior race. Her thoughts drifted to what it would be like to carry his child, to be impregnated by him, and to have his superior genetic material take root within her. It was a concept that had never crossed her mind before. Her line of work had never allowed her to consider the idea of motherhood, but now, in this new chapter of her life, it was a possibility that seemed both foreign and intriguing.
Serina's thoughts were increasingly entangled in a web of questions and desires. She wondered whether Sev even desired fatherhood, given his dedication to the demanding life of a bounty hunter. His commitment to the job was unflinching and all-absorbing; having a child might well complicate things and slow him down. On the other hand, she could not entirely ignore the traditional role of a woman in a relationship, especially in a context like theirs. Would it be her responsibility to bear strong children as his woman, further cementing their bond and lineage?
These thoughts stirred within her in a complex mix of arousal and confusion, as she grappled with the interplay of her own desires, her sense of duty, and her evolving connection with Sev. It was a conundrum that added another layer of complexity to their relationship.
Serina’s mind flickered back into the steamy present moment, to feel his rough hands now caressing her legs. Reaching under her knees, Sev untangled her legs from around his waist and pushed them forward toward her chest. He always appreciated how flexible she was. “Oh!” Serina gasped in pleasure. She always loved it when he did this to her.
Tightening his hold on her knees, Sev mounted Serina, dominating her with a mating press. Her amber eyes went wide with excited arousal as she allowed her Valkorian warrior to manipulate her mere human body as he pleased. Her chest heaved and her face blushed as she submitted to her lover. Sev drank in her serene white skin and feminine features.
Then, drawing his hips back, Sev thrust powerfully forward, driving his cock deep into her soaking slit. Serina squealed and let out a loud moan as he drove irresistibly inside her, all the way to the depths of her core. This single sudden dive into her innermost being caused her to reach an orgasm.
“Gah! Mhhppmm, yes! You’re so fucking big!” Serina gasped in pleasure. Her warm walls wrapped and contorted around his meaty shaft, extracting more pleasure for both of them.
Sev resumed his thrusting and pounded Serina into oblivion. She could do nothing but writhe and moan in extreme pleasure under his immovable strength. Waves of pleasure throbbed throughout her body causing her to quickly cum again. She reached behind her and grabbed the pillow her head was resting on. Folding the pillow, she engulfed her face and screamed out loud. Her toes clenched in the air and her legs shook violently.
She wanted, no, needed to rest. But Sev kept thrusting away. “Ah ah ah! Sev! Please! Let me rest! Let me rest! Oh my god! Ahhhh!” she pleaded, hoping for mercy but instead attaining yet another orgasm. The squelching of their conjoined sexes swelled in their ears as they rutted like wild animals.
A thick white cream began to form around Sev’s shaft and around Serina’s moist lips. The sounds of Sev’s deep grunting and growls sent shivers down her spine. Gazing up, Serina locked eyes with her incredible undeniable lover. Determination was etched on his face; unwavering focus was engraved in the glare of his dark orbs. Beads of sweat dripped from his forehead, splashing onto her face.
The bunk rocked heavily as their intimate moment continued. The mattress was soaking wet from their sweat, and the air was thick and steamy with the musk of sex. Neither of them had any idea how long they had been going at it. Sev was possessed of god-like stamina, but even he was reaching his limit. Releasing his grasp from the backs of Serina’s knees, he reached up and grabbed her wrists instead. As he broke her grip on her pillow, it unfolded, revealing her messily moaning face.
He gazed deeply into her amber eyes. “Oh fuck! Ahhhh! Nnhhggg!” Serina wailed as he thrust even harder and faster. Her eyes rolled back into her skull and her tongue lolled sexily from her mouth.
“I’m close,” Sev spoke for the first time during their entire steamy session. Regaining control of her eyes, she rolled her gaze back to meet that of his own determined orbs. Like so many times before, she knew what was about to come. Only this time he seemed a bit different. Sev’s longing was fiercer than ever, his desire for Serina almost shocking in its intensity.
Her previous thoughts about carrying his seed crossed her mind again. Was he actually trying to impregnate her, right now with this overwhelmingly possessive act of sex? The way he was fucking her and gazing at her, it certainly seemed like it. Serina had no choice but to ponder whether motherhood was what she really wanted.
Sev served her a last few heavy strokes, then bottomed out deep inside Serina’s core and shot his warmth deep inside of her. Serina moaned, feeling his warmth filling her to overflowing. “Ohhhh, yes! Fill me up! You fucking beast of a man!” she moaned with helpless desire. She realized how much she hungered for this feeling, to be filled to overflowing with his conquering warrior seed.
Sev pinned her wrists harder into the mattress as he continued to arch and thrust, tapping all of his reserves, running himself dry even as he pumped her so full she was sloshing with the full measure of his sperm. Images of her fecund self, curved and complete, beautifully, bountifully pregnant with Sev’s child, flickered and flashed in her mind, reigniting the string of orgasms that had never really faltered. Her legs subconsciously wrapped around his waist again and held him fully inside herself. She was so full of his seed that, if not for her birth control, he would surely have impregnated her. She shuddered and shook, her orgasm refusing to release as she found herself swirling helplessly in the current of this new compulsion, to be conclusively bred by Sev, her Valkorian overlord.
She could hear his low grunting and growls as his own orgasm began to subside. He collapsed on top of her, the two of them reduced to a sweaty moaning mess. Serina squealed a bit as his heavy muscular frame almost crushed her. But this was something she was used to, hell, she even enjoyed his heavy weight bearing down upon her. It made her feel all nice and cozy.
After a while, Sev slowly rose above Serina and looked down at her. "Hey, tiger," she greeted in a warm voice, wearing a satisfied smile.
Smirking, he leaned in, capturing her lips with his in a deep, affectionate kiss. "I love you," he whispered softly as he pulled back. It was a rare display of deep emotions from Sev, making his confession all the more meaningful. Serina felt her chest swell with affection. She'd always harbored intense feelings for Sev but, until now, she'd never acknowledged the inner truth of those emotions.
"I love you, too," Serina whispered, her voice vibrating with genuine emotion. A warm smile graced Sev's usually serious face and, as he rolled off of her, their intimate moment left them with a sense of connection and affection that words alone could never have fully expressed.
She slid the curtain to the bunk aside; the ship's cabin lights spilled inside, casting their gentle glow over the cozy bunk. Serina's amber eyes flickered, adjusting to the sudden brightness. Sev, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his waist, turned to his lover who was still nestled in bed.
"Do you mind if I hit the shower first?" he inquired, gesturing towards the compact shower compartment nearby with his thumb. Serina slowly shook her head.
"You can go first. I’m still recovering from what you just did to me," she replied with a knowing smile.
Concealed by his armor, Sev settled into the cockpit of the ship, while Serina took her turn to refresh herself. Activating the ship's computer console, he began scanning for any messages he might have missed during his leisure time with his woman.
"Kira," he called out to his AI.
"Yes, boss?" Kira's response was swift and attentive.
Sev inquired, "How much longer until we reach the Conclave?" as his fingers danced across the console.
"Approximately 20 minutes until we exit jump space," the trusty AI informed him. Sev acknowledged her with a nod and continued reviewing his messages, engrossed in the tasks at hand. A tense silence settled between them. Sev was focused on catching up and preparing for the impending reunion.
"Boss?" Kira's artificial voice carried a hint of anxiety. Sev made a non-committal hum in response. "Do you think they will accept her?" Her question hung in the air, causing Sev to abruptly halt his activities and gaze at the console.
"They will accept her... I know it," he replied, his voice unwavering, laced with conviction.
Kira expressed her concerns, "How can you be so sure? It's been a while since you've been back. You might be seen as estranged. Will your words still carry enough weight?"
Sev did not respond immediately, choosing to resume his tasks. However, Kira persisted. "It's been two years since you left. Will they even accept you back?"
Her words seemed to strike a chord, causing Sev to pause once more. "Once a Valkorian, always a Valkorian," he asserted. "Elder Remus understands why I left. He'll be pleased to welcome one of his sons back into the fold."
"And Serina. What about her?" Kira reiterated her point.
Sev responded with confidence, "She's the strongest person I know. She'll be accepted, I'm sure of it. And if she has to prove herself, she will. I have no doubt in my mind."
"Understood, boss. I'll do what I can to support you," Kira responded, acknowledging his determination.
As they exited jump space, an ominous-looking planet dominated the view from the cockpit window. Its atmosphere was heavy with turbulent gray storm clouds, and a fractured moon loomed in the distance. A ring of debris from the shattered moon had coalesced in orbit around it.
"We have arrived at Aurelianus Majoris," Kira reported, setting the stage for the forthcoming events.
"Sending encrypted comms message," Sev announced, swiftly inputting frequencies on a nearby console.
"Sending encrypted message," Kira echoed in protocol.
With the ship under his control, Sev guided it toward the planet. As they entered the planet's atmosphere, the vessel quaked and shuddered, thrashing its way through the turbulence of the stormy skies. As Serina struggled to fasten her boots, the ship’s violent movements caused her to stumble.
"Gah! What the hell??" she exclaimed, as she fought to regain her balance.
Laboriously making her way toward the cockpit, Serina clung to anything she could find for support. Upon reaching the cockpit, she firmly grasped Sev's pilot seat from behind.
"Um, hey. Where are we, exactly?" she inquired urgently, her eyes widening as she peered out of the pitch-black cockpit window. The skies were intermittently riven by lightning strikes; the rain battering the windscreen sounded like a hail of bullets.
"We are heading to the Conclave," Kira informed her. Serina raised an eyebrow. She had heard Sev mention this ‘Conclave’ in conversations with Kira, but until now she had never asked about the place or its significance.
Serina saw that Sev was completely focused on navigating the ship through the turbulent skies. Despite the vessel's violent movements, he remained resolute. No matter how intently she scrutinized the navigation screen, Serina was unable to discern their destination; it flickered intermittently, displaying little beyond bursts of static. Despite the chaotic conditions outside, Sev’s dedication to his course was unwavering.
However, Serina's anxiety was peaking. "Sev??" she called out to her Valkorian lover with deep concern. "You're not eyeballing this, are you??"
Sev responded hesitantly, "It's been a while since I've been back here. So …maybe?" His less-than-resolute answer did little to ease her distress. Serina's eyes hardened, and she smacked the top of his helmeted head.
*Bonk!* The loud ring of the Hyperium alloy echoed through the cockpit.
"Augh! I know where I'm going. I'm just pulling your leg," Sev retorted, rubbing the top of his head. Serina’s strength was undeniable.
"Both hands on the controls, tiger," Serina commanded with a stern tone. If she was going to be his bonded woman, she intended to arrive at their destination in one piece.
"Our ETA is 2 minutes," Kira relayed, as the intense journey through the turbulent skies drew to its end.
As they emerged beneath the thick cloud cover, the rocky, mountainous terrain of the planet came into view. Although the sky remained dark and gloomy, there was just enough visibility to make out their surroundings. As Serina squinted to discern the details, she noticed a long platform extending from the side of a massive mountain.
Sev deployed the landing gear as they approached the platform, guiding the ship into a smooth landing. The once-roaring engines gradually fell silent, leaving only the patter of rain on the ship's hull to break the quiet.
Serina made space for Sev to exit the cockpit, watching as he crossed to his weapons locker to equip himself with his gear and armaments. "Get your things ready," he instructed Serina, as he secured his railgun on his lower back.
"Of course," Serina replied, shaking off her momentary distraction. She sheathed her assortment of blades and holstered her CAR-99 Raptor submachine gun in her right thigh holster, ensuring she had everything she needed.
Sev picked up a black poncho and gently draped it over Serina. "You don't want to catch a cold," he remarked in a somewhat somber tone. Although it concealed her well, her attire was not suited for the rainy weather.
"Thanks," Serina replied warmly, pulling her hood over her head.
Sev inquired, "Do you have everything you need?" He retrieved a suitcase he had received not long ago.
"Yeah, I'm all set here. Is there anything I should know? I still don’t have any idea what's going to happen, other than I’m to become your partner," Serina quipped, her tone light.
Sev took a moment to formulate his response. "Remain respectful at all times. Do not engage with any other Valkorians, regardless of any taunts or provocations that may come your way. You're considered an outsider, and they won't hesitate to kill you if they perceive you as a threat. Even if I try to protect you, there's only so much I can do," Sev explained with a grave demeanor.
"Okay," Serina sighed, her independent nature balking at being told what to do, even by her lover. In response to her sigh, Sev walked over to her and firmly grasped her shoulders.
"This isn't a joke, Serina. You must understand the seriousness of the situation, and I know how you can be," Sev stated firmly. His words were less than comforting but undeniably accurate. Serina tended to be quite headstrong. She felt the tension in his grip and nodded obediently.
"Yes, I understand, Sev. I will behave, I promise," she assured him, recognizing the importance of following his advice in such an unfamiliar situation.
As the platform of the ship lowered, Serina stood close to Sev. She turned to him, a hint of curiosity in her voice. "So, hypothetically, let's say I did get into a scuffle. How many of your, um, people could I take?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. Sev shifted his attention toward her briefly, then shook his head.
"What? I'm just asking in case things take a turn for the worse," she added, a playful grin tugging at her lips.
He chuckled and replied, "Well, I'll admit, maybe a good amount of them." Serina smirked and nodded proudly. "Yeah, the younglings," Sev playfully added. Serina gasped in mock offense and delivered a stiff elbow to his side. He winced. "Okay, fine. In a one-on-one fight, you'd stand a pretty good chance. But these people aren't your average mercenaries. Imagine me, and then multiply that by several hundred."
Serina absorbed the information with a slow nod. Sev was the most dangerous person she had ever encountered; it was one of the factors that had drawn her to him. Birds of a feather, as they said. Yet, the realization that an undisclosed number of individuals with abilities akin to Sev's awaited them at their destination was unsettling. Her survival instincts, already heightened, were now in overdrive. For the first time in a long time, she found herself facing an uncertain future.
As the platform finished extending itself down to the docking platform, the cacophony of heavy rain intensified. The exterior was drenched and shrouded in darkness. Descending the platform, Serina kept her gaze fixed on the distant end of the long walkway and noticed a radiant, glowing open, veritable light at the end of a tunnel.
As they made their way toward the light, Serina had to keep tugging her hood down to keep the wind from blowing it off. She scanned her surroundings as they walked. The steep flank of the rugged mountain reached endlessly upward into the clouded sky. On the opposite side of the walkway, she was spooked by the endless abyss below.
“This planet is certainly lovely,” Serina muttered sarcastically to herself as she trailed closely along behind Sev.
As they drew closer to the radiant light, the silhouettes of figures waiting for their arrival came into focus. A central figure stood prominently, flanked by four others who maintained a disciplined formation. Serina continued to scrutinize the individuals as they drew ever closer. Each of them sported armor akin to Sev's, though each suit of armor was adorned with its own distinctive features.
Her gaze fixed on the central figure, a commanding presence. He towered over the other Valkorians, and even above Sev as he took up a position directly in front of him. The stern figure’s helmet bore starkly spiraling horns, and his armor exuded an aura of unassailable strength. Around the collar of his coat, thick gray fur from an unknown creature sprouted, only adding to his imposing appearance.
In this fraught moment, Serina felt acutely vulnerable. She was the only person lacking a helmet and the opaque black visors of the Valkorians concealed their expressions, leaving her unable to gauge their intentions. As several of the Valkorians shifted their attention to look past Sev in her direction, Serina composed herself, endeavoring to project as dignified a persona as possible.
Returning her attention to Sev, Serina observed him as he gazed up at the formidable figure before him. An eerie silence seized the air, broken only by the weight of their intense stares. Serina's sixth sense tingled, zeroed in on the mounting tension. Subconsciously, her hand drifted towards the grip of her gun, concealed beneath her poncho. She clutched the handle uneasily as the silent standoff continued.
As the large armored man took a step forward, Serina's eyes widened, and her heart raced with anticipation. But the watchful eyes of the other four Valkorians were all affixed upon her, causing her to think twice about any impulsive actions. She clung to her composure, her gaze locked on the commanding figure.
Now standing before Sev, the leader extended his right gloved hand from underneath his coat. After a moment's hesitation, Sev also reached forward, and the two clasped hands in a firm and meaningful handshake before pulling themselves into a heartfelt embrace. Serina couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief, relieved that the tension had not escalated.
As the two dominant figures pulled away from their clasp, the four other Valkorians approached Sev in their turn, offering welcoming gestures and warm hugs. It was evident that their bonds ran deep, akin to a tight-knit family. The sense of camaraderie and unity was palpable in their interactions.
Relaxing her grip on her weapon's handle, Serina released it and allowed her hand to fall gently to her side. She maintained her vigilant observation of their interactions. Although the Valkorians exchanged words in hushed murmurs, their dialogue remained unintelligible to her. The heavy rain continued to pour down, its relentless drumming providing a constant backdrop to their conversation.
Despite the auditory barrier, Serina gathered from the subtle movements of their helmeted heads that the exchange appeared to be positive and amicable. The gestures and body language conveyed a sense of warmth and camaraderie, reassuring her that the encounter was taking a favorable turn.
The commanding figure's gaze was suddenly directed her way: Serina instinctively flinched back, caught off guard by the unexpected attention. Uncertain about the appropriate course of action, she briefly deliberated. Should she offer a verbal greeting or perhaps a wave? Thinking quickly, she decided that a subtle yet affirming nod of acknowledgment would be the most suitable response to the Valkorian leader's scrutiny. This simple gesture conveyed respect without overstepping boundaries, and it allowed her to maintain her poised composure in the face of unfamiliarity.
Serina was visibly relieved to see the imposing figure return a respectful nod after Sev gestured towards her. As the Valkorian leader approached her, she felt a natural impulse to draw her weapon, her nerves still on high alert. The imposing armored figure stood uncomfortably close to her, casting a shadow over her.
The figure spoke an unintelligible language. Serina flinched at the unfamiliar words but, almost immediately, she detected a hint of welcome in the depth of his voice. He repeated his words, but Serina remained puzzled. In the distance, she heard Sev say something in the same language, prompting the tall Valkorian to nod.
"What is your name, girl?" he inquired, switching from whatever he was speaking – presumably Valkorian – to the common galactic dialect. It took Serina a moment to process his question.
"What? Oh, Serina Markson," she replied, feeling slightly taken aback. She then mustered the courage to ask, "And may I ask what yours is?"
The Valkorian introduced himself, "Darius. Darius Ovidius Trajanus Nero." Serina couldn't help but be surprised by the length of his name. Darius then noted, "So you're the woman who wants to become one of us."
Serina nodded slowly, acknowledging their intent "Yes, I am to become Sev's..." she hesitated, feeling a bit anxious, but continued, "...Sev's woman."
"Heh, so I've heard," Darius chuckled. "You must be quite the person for someone like Sev to choose you. For a mere human, you should feel honored." Serina didn't appreciate the insinuation. She knew her humanity, but the condescending tone grated on her.
"For a ‘mere’ human?" Serina retorted. Darius tilted his head back in surprise. "With all due respect, I can more than hold my own out in the field," she declared firmly.
"Is that so? Do you truly believe you have what it takes to be one of us?" Darius challenged. Serina nodded confidently.
"That's why Sev chose me," she asserted. Darius slowly nodded in approval.
"Hmm, let's hope you're right," the authoritative Valkorian replied. "I believe it's time we head inside," he announced to the group.
As the group proceeded through the entrance, Serina took in her unfamiliar surroundings. She wasn't sure what to expect, but the halls resembled a fortress or bunker, evoking a sense of ancient history she couldn't quite decipher. Sev had been walking beside Darius, but now Sev dropped back to walk with Serina and stayed close, concerned about her feelings.
"How are you holding up so far? What's your first impression?" Sev inquired, attempting to gauge Serina's thoughts.
Pulling back her hood, Serina ran a hand through her short hair and responded, "Well, it seems the big guy has taken a liking to me. I'm not so sure about the others, though. The way they stare at me makes me feel uneasy. Don't they have any manners?" Sev let out a small chuckle.
"Hmm, if Darius is on your side, you're off to a good start," Sev replied. "And don't worry about the staring. You're an outsider, and they're just making sure you're not up to any mischief," he explained.
"What? I'm behaving, aren't I?" Serina protested.
Sev pointed out, "You had your hand on your gun." Serina's eyes widened in surprise that he had noticed such a detail. He knew her well enough to recognize her every mannerism.
"What? I did not..." she half-heartedly objected; she was unwilling to admit he was right, so she playfully jabbed his side with her elbow.
The sounds of clinking armor and the rhythmic thud of wet boots on the floor reverberated through the hallway. Other Valkorians, who had been loitering around, halted their activities and fixed their gazes on Serina. She kept a watchful eye on them from the corner of her vision as they assessed her presence. Striving to leave a favorable impression, she maintained a composed and confident stride.
Passing on down the corridor, Serina had the opportunity to glimpse vast chambers designed for training and shooting ranges. As she walked by an open entrance, she peered into a room where Valkorians were engrossed in hand-to-hand combat training. She marveled at the swiftness and precision of their movements. A few of them paused their practice upon spotting an outsider intruding into their domain.
Arriving at a formidable pair of doors, with flickering pyres flanking them, Darius brought the group to a halt and turned to face them. "Elder Remus is awaiting you inside," Darius informed them.
"Is he pleased to hear of my return?" Sev asked cautiously.
"He's happy that you've returned, yes. However, as for your decision to bring an outsider into the sect, particularly a human, he's not entirely certain," Darius replied with a touch of humor. "No disrespect, Serina." Serina nodded in understanding.
"She is deserving. I can vouch for that. If I didn't believe in her, I wouldn't have offered her a place by my side," Sev assured. Darius nodded slowly.
"Hmm, I trust your judgment. I can see it in her eyes. They exude strength and seriousness, valuable qualities in a Valkorian," Darius responded. "But she'll have to prove herself, just like everyone else." Sev nodded slowly and turned to Serina, who flashed a reassuring smile, signifying her readiness for what lay ahead.
"Very well," Sev agreed. He motioned for Serina to follow him, and they proceeded toward the imposing doors. As they drew near, the doors slid open, unveiling a dimly lit room with a mysterious blue light emanating from its depths.
Upon entering, the door sealed shut behind them, plunging them into an eerie darkness, with the only source of illumination being the enigmatic blue light at the room's center. Serina followed Sev closely, her eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings, her grip on his coat betraying her unease.
As they drew nearer to the origin of the blue light, the surroundings slowly came into focus, revealing a cloaked figure attending to what appeared to be a large, vibrant blue flame emanating from a bowl-like structure.
Kneeling down, Sev gestured for Serina to do the same. "Elder Remus, I have returned..." Sev addressed the mysterious figure, his tone carrying an air of reverence. Serina watched attentively as the figure slowly advanced toward them.
An aged, wrinkled hand emerged from beneath the robe, signaling for them to stand. As they rose, the figure lowered its hood, revealing an elderly man with a long, snow-white beard. "Hm, Sev, you have finally returned to us. When I heard news of your return, I found it hard to believe, yet here you stand."
Sev offered a respectful nod. "Hm, you look strong," the old man beamed with pride, grasping Sev's arms. "What have you been up to, my son?"
"Exploring the galaxy, Elder," Sev replied.
"Hm, it appears you've been doing a bit more than just exploring," the old man observed, running his thumb over the combat scars etched into Sev's armor.
"I'm a bounty hunter," Sev clarified.
The elderly man nodded slowly. "Hmm, good. I'm sure your line of work keeps you sharp. It is quite a common profession for our people to take on. I guess we were born for it."
Serina waited patiently as they exchanged words, her curiosity unabated. While the conversation continued, she discreetly surveyed her surroundings once more, taking note of nearby furnaces and what appeared to be smithing equipment. Observing molds for armor and helmets strewn about, she deduced that this was where the Valkorians crafted their prized armor, a testament to their warrior heritage.
"So, what brings you back here, son?" the old man finally inquired. "We have nothing here to really offer you. You seem to have done well for yourself so far."
Sev shook his head. "I want to bring a woman I've grown close to into the sect. I want to bond her to me," he revealed.
Elder Remus turned his attention to Serina, who stood at a respectful distance behind Sev. "So, this is the woman Darius informed me about..." the old man mumbled. "Hm, I thought you didn't have time for women," he let out a raspy chuckle.
"She's different, Elder," Sev added. Remus raised a bushy gray eyebrow. "She chose me, actually, and I chose her."
"Is that right?" Remus replied. Turning to Serina, he began to address her directly. "You must be quite the woman to make the first move on a man like him. And for a mere human, you are quite courageous, my dear. Most wouldn't even attempt such a thing." Serina smiled, but she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with the demeaning reference to her being a human.
"Hmm, he chose you for a reason, didn't he?" Elder Remus continued. "He wouldn't have brought you all the way here if he didn't believe you had what it takes to become one of us."
"That's right," Serina finally spoke. "I want this, and I'm fully prepared to do what's necessary," she declared with unwavering conviction. Remus nodded in acknowledgment.
"Hm, you sound very serious about this. I can admire that," the old man hummed a hint of approval in his voice. "But this is a commitment. A way of life. As a Valkorian, you must adhere to our code of honor."
"Of course, Elder," Serina replied, exuding determination. Remus smirked, sensing that she was already grasping the essence of their traditions. "I've spent enough time with Sev to get a basic understanding of your people's ways.”
"Hm, and what do you think of our people's ways? Sev is certainly one of the best examples we have," Elder Remus inquired. Serina contemplated the question for a moment. Since getting to know Sev, she had come to understand that he was a formidable, almost ruthless, professional in his line of work, yet he possessed a unique sense of courtesy and professionalism.
"From what I've learned from Sev, your people have a strong code of honor," Serina began. "I certainly admire how skilled he is in combat. He's come to my aid more times than I can count. I suppose I have your people to thank for that," she replied, expressing her appreciation for the lessons she'd learned from the Valkorians, particularly Sev.
"Hm, I would agree with you. He is one of our strongest warriors," Elder Remus said with evident pride. "Along with Darius, Caela, and Hadrian..." Hearing the names of these other individuals in the company of Sev, Serina's curiosity was thoroughly piqued.
"But enough of that, give me your hand..." Remus said, stepping closer to her. Serina perceived that he was hesitating over how to address her.
"It's Serina, Elder, …Serina Markson," she interjected, extending her hand toward him.
Grasping her hand in both of his, Remus closed his eyes and hummed. "Hmm, Serina. A name befitting your essence, I can sense. Peaceful and calm, I can feel." A noticeable chuckle erupted from Sev. Startled, Serina immediately fixed her amber eyes on him and sent a glare that could pierce his soul. He playfully shrugged and allowed the conversation to continue. "In your past... Hmm, you've been alone for a long time... A very long time..." Remus muttered sympathetically. Serina's eyes widened as he struck a chord that resonated deeply. "Ah... Hmm, you've lost a lot, haven't you..."
A melancholic smile crossed Serina's face as she reflected on her journey. "Yes, I have…"
Remus continued to gaze at her thoughtfully. "Hmm, I can see why you were drawn to Sev. He is very much the same... solitary, strong, and fiercely determined." Serina's eyes welled up with tears, touched by the profound truth in his words. She turned to Sev, silently seeking confirmation that what Remus had said about him was accurate. In response, Sev met her gaze and slowly nodded, reaffirming the shared experiences that had brought them together and the understanding they had found in each other.
Serina turned back to Elder Remus and nodded in agreement. "Yes, we've both walked challenging paths, but those paths are what have joined us together."
The elder's eyes sparkled with wisdom. "Sometimes, it takes the meeting of two kindred spirits to find what was missing in each other. You and Sev may discover that you both have more to gain by joining us than you might expect."
Serina looked at Sev, her trust and determination growing stronger.
"Hmm, I can sense great potential within you," Remus whispered quietly. "Sev has chosen well." With a gentle release of her hand, the old man opened his eyes and locked his gaze with Serina. He nodded in affirmation. "Hm, would you mind leaving us for a moment? I need to speak with Sev."
"Of course, Elder," Serina replied respectfully, bowing her head. She cast one last look at Sev as she made her way toward the chamber's entrance, leaving them to their conversation.
"So, what is your verdict?" Sev cautiously asked, his eyes fixed on Elder Remus.
Elder Remus held his hands behind his back and began to stroll near the glimmering blue flame. "She will make a fine addition to the sect," he replied with a tone of assurance. Sev couldn't help but release a breath of relief. "But you will be responsible for her, do you understand?"
"I understand, Elder," Sev obediently affirmed.
"Hm, you will teach her our way of life, our creed, our tongue... Everything... It is your duty," Remus continued, emphasizing the gravity of the responsibility.
"I will, Elder..."
There was a brief silence between the two until Sev posed another question. "Will she have to go through 'The Ordeal of Entry'?" Remus shook his head.
"Hmm, there may be no need for that. She appears to be adept in the way of combat. And I have great trust in your word that she is more than capable," Remus answered. "However, there will be those who object. So be prepared if you are challenged. It is their right. And it is likely she will need to prove herself to the others. Only then, will she be fully welcomed into our family." Sev just nodded.
Sensing that the time was right, Sev produced his suitcase and presented it to Elder Remus. "Elder, I have the Hyperium for her armor," he announced.
Remus turned around, his bushy brows raised with curiosity. As he approached, Sev cracked open the case, revealing the sacred metal. The elder reached down and picked up one of the Hyperium tablets, closely examining it. "Hmm, this is pure... Where did you get this?" he asked inquisitively.
Sev hesitated for a moment before responding, "I acquired it through work for a... warlord. King Gornu..."
Elder Remus paused, his expression showing a hint of disapproval. "Hmm, I know of him. It matters not, however. As long as the Hyperium returns to us." The Hyperium, with its dark silver surface and intricate colorations, seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly essence in the chamber's blue light.
"I will prepare this for her immediately. It should be ready for the ceremony," Remus informed, placing the Hyperium tablet down and taking the suitcase from Sev's hands.
As Sev prepared to leave, Remus stopped him. "Sev," he called out in a more somber tone. Sev paused and turned back to face the elder. "I also have something else to discuss with you."
Sev turned his body to face Remus fully. "It's about your responsibilities," Remus informed.
"Yes, I understand what my duties are, Elder," Sev replied, making an assumption. Remus shook his head and began to carefully rub his white beard.
"No, different responsibilities," the old man muttered. Sev tilted his head in cautious confusion. He watched as Remus slowly walked over to a nearby workbench and carefully placed the suitcase down. "Your uncle… Maxus... he's no longer with us," he revealed.
Sev's head tilted back slightly, his previous happiness giving way to a somber expression. "When?" Sev muttered quietly, a note of frustration under his breath.
“A few months ago,” Elder Remus informed. “Apparently, he finally met his match.”
“Who?” Sev urgently asked, his fists clenched with intensity.
Remus shook his head, uncertainty clouding his features. “The identity of the killer is uncertain. Some say it was a man; others say it was a woman,” he explained. “But one thing we do know is that whoever did this had help. From what our Ravens could gather, it seems that there was some sort of united front that was put together to oppose Maxus. It appears that he made enemies, lots of them.”
Sev's face darkened upon hearing the grim news. "And what about Garik and Mira? What is their fate?" he asked Elder Remus with a glimmer of hope. Remus solemnly shook his head, and Sev's expression turned to one of anger and despair.
"They perished fighting by their father's side," Remus quietly confirmed. Sev couldn't hide the snarl that escaped his lips, and he turned away from Elder Remus. A heavy silence settled over them as Sev grappled with the weight of the news.
Maxus, his uncle, had always been a brash and combative man. Sev had long expected that Maxus might meet his end in a violent clash. Conflict seemed to follow Maxus like a shadow. It was one of the key reasons Sev had chosen to leave his family's faction and join Elder Remus's sect as soon as he was of age. But what hurt Sev the most was the loss of Garik and Mira.
Garik and Mira had been more than cousins; they were like siblings to Sev, and they had shared a deep bond. They had grown up together and had become inseparable. Now, they were gone. Sev couldn't help but blame his uncle for dragging them into his reckless pursuits. In his eyes, Garik and Mira didn't deserve to die in the midst of their father's strife. The burden of grief weighed heavily on Sev's heart as he faced the harsh reality of their loss.
A heavy silence continued to hang in the chamber as Sev grappled with the shocking revelation. His voice trembled with a mixture of grief and anger as he asked, "Why? Why are you telling me this now? Does anyone else know?" Elder Remus could sense the deep anger welling up in Sev's words.
"Hm, only Darius and Caela know," Remus replied, his own voice heavy with the weight of the secret. "Darius even wanted to gather the sect and strike back on your behalf. But I convinced him to hold back and make a more calculated decision." Remus paused, then continued, "The reason I'm telling you this now is that you must understand the new responsibilities that lie upon your shoulders."
Sev's unease was palpable as he struggled to accept Elder Remus's words. "No… I can't..." he began, but Remus was insistent.
"You are now the sole survivor of your bloodline. It is your duty. You are Sevilius Corin Balteus. Your family's name is among the legends of our people. Your great-grandfather led us to victory against the Imperium! Your mother founded this very sect to which we all belong!" Remus's voice was resolute, trying to impress upon Sev the weight of his heritage.
Sev shook his head, his uncertainty evident. Leadership wasn't in his nature; he had always been a lone wolf. "I'm not a leader, Elder Remus..." he muttered.
"I'm not asking you to become our leader. I'm simply asking you to secure your family's future. Your bloodline is too important to let it fade into history," Remus urged, his tone softer but no less determined.
Sev's demeanor shifted slightly, and he turned back to face Remus. "You want me to start a family? I'm not even sure if Serina wants that. Our line of work doesn't allow for such a thing," Sev pointed out, raising a valid concern.
Elder Remus's words held a weight that Sev couldn't ignore. "I'm not suggesting you should start right away. Your woman still needs to be formally inducted. Only then will you finally become the head of your family's name," Remus explained, offering a glimmer of hope that Sev could proceed at his own pace.
However, Remus continued, "You may even need to take on several other women... Yes, that would be the wisest course of action." Sev's body froze at the suggestion. He was well aware of the tradition among the Valkorians that allowed a male to take on multiple wives, but the thought of having several partners felt overwhelming. He couldn't help but think that Serina, the woman he cared so deeply for, was more than enough for him.
Sev's reluctance was clear as he countered, "I think Serina is more than enough, Elder."
Remus remained steadfast, shaking his head. "My boy, you must take this responsibility seriously. It's a necessary course of action to ensure that your bloodline lives on. Of course, you can still love Serina. But you can also find companionship in others as well."
Sev was beginning to grasp the gravity of his situation, realizing that this decision wasn't about personal preferences but the preservation of his family's legacy. The weight of his lineage pressed upon him, and he nodded, a sense of duty settling in.
Sev voiced his concerns, saying, "I wouldn’t even know where to start. I can be quite picky with the women I choose." He was well aware that Serina was fiercely protective of him: bringing other women into their relationship was bound to be a touchy subject.
Elder Remus offered his reassurance, placing a hand on Sev's shoulder. "That's a fine quality to have, son. I have no doubt that the women you do come across will be just as bright and gifted as Serina." Sev nodded, knowing that he indeed had a preference for capable women with exceptional qualities.
Sev continued to express his concerns, saying, "But what about the women I do hypothetically choose? What if they are not of our people like Serina? Wouldn't you want the bloodline to remain pure?"
Elder Remus chuckled softly, his tone conspiratorial as he shared a closely guarded secret. "You see, my boy, the true beauty of being the head of your family lies in your ability to make your own choices when it comes to matters of the heart. Given your esteemed position, I am confident that your decisions will meet with little resistance. As for the notion of preserving the pure bloodline, let me unveil a well-kept truth. Throughout the generations, our strength has often been augmented by external influences."
Leaning in closer, he whispered in a tone laden with intrigue, "Allow me to impart a closely guarded secret: even Torik the Golden, the paragon of Valkorian lineage, wasn't of pure Valkorian descent." Sev's eyes widened in astonishment at this revelation. Remus pressed on, his voice barely above a murmur, "The concept of an untainted Valkorian lineage is, in essence, a myth. Yes, it is ideal for a Valkorian to possess pure blood, but genuine strength transcends mere ancestry."
Sev had no choice but to take Remus’s suggestion seriously. But he needed time to process everything that was happening. He had just learned that the last of his blood relatives were dead, and now the Elder of his sect was urging him to assemble a harem. And he would have to figure out how best to convey all of this to Serina.
Sev nodded, still feeling uneasy about the idea but understanding the importance of the responsibility. "I'll try and talk to her and explain everything. I hope she'll understand," he said.
Elder Remus placed a reassuring hand on Sev's shoulder once more. "I have faith that she will, Sev. You have chosen a strong woman. Together, you can ensure your family's legacy and the strength of our people."
With those words, Sev felt a heavy burden placed upon his shoulders, one he would have to share with Serina, and one that they would have to commit to carry together.
"I... I will need some time to ponder it," Sev replied thoughtfully, taking a step back as he prepared to leave the room. Elder Remus offered a slow nod of understanding.
"Very well, my boy. And don't forget to extend your greetings to your brothers and sisters," he gently reminded Sev.
Exiting the chamber, Sev scanned the hall for Serina but, oddly enough, she was nowhere to be found. Seeing Darius standing nearby with his back facing him, he approached him. “Darius,” Sev began. The large man spun around.
“Ah, Sev!” he roared, “You’re back!” He gave Sev a heavy slap on the back, but Sev didn’t react to the jostling in the slightest, despite Darius’s immense strength. “How was your talk with Elder Remus?”
“Yeah yeah, it went well,” Sev quickly answered, trying to move along to more pressing matters. “Where’s Serina?” he urgently asked.
“Hm, she’s in the sparring chamber. Some of our own didn’t like her being here. They were giving her some nasty looks, so she challenged them to a duel,” Darius explained. “I tried to stop her, but she was quite the feisty one. She looked terribly determined to prove herself here.”
Sev shook his head. He had given Serina explicit orders not to engage with his fellow Valkorians. But he knew deep down that she would take his orders as suggestive, at best. “And why aren't you with her?” Sev asked, sounding a bit disappointed that his close comrade hadn’t covered for him.
“Again, I offered, but she refused. So here I am. I thought it would be best if I were to break the news to you first,” Darius answered. “But now that you are here, come on! Let’s go see her now. I’m sure that she’s doing just fine!” he eagerly urged.
As Sev and Darius approached the sparring chamber, they could hear the excited chatter and cheers emanating from within. "Hah! You hear that? Things must be going well inside!" Darius roared, giving Sev another hearty pat on the back.
As the two imposing warriors entered the packed chamber, their presence immediately caught the attention of the boisterous audience. With a show of respect, the Valkorians making up the excited crowd instantly cleared a path to allow the two through. Even as they did so, their energy was palpable; it was clear how eager they all were to witness the spectacle unfolding at the center of their attention.
As Sev and Darius moved forward, the chaotic scene gradually came into focus. The rapid exchanges and movements of combatants became clearer, although the full picture remained elusive. It was a flurry of motion and noise, with glimpses of intense action.
As they reached the front of the gathering, Sev and Darius finally gained an unobstructed view. They were met with the sight of Serina engaging in hand-to-hand combat with two other Valkorians. Serina's forehead and nose were slightly bloodied, giving evidence of a fierce struggle.
With a quick glance, Sev sized up her two opponents: they were both female Valkorians, their identities concealed beneath their helmets. One lay sprawled on the ground, struggling to regain her footing, while the other clutched her arm in agony. Despite her injury, the latter remained upright, her determination showing in her stance.
"You outsider filth! I'll tear your arm off for that!" the wounded Valkorian spat, her anger evident in her voice.
"Hah! Bring it on! I'm ready for round two!" Serina retorted, her defiant words further fueling her opponent's fury. She casually wiped the blood from her nose.
As the Valkorian closed the gap, she swiftly unsheathed the blade holstered at her side, poised to strike. However, before the deadly blow could be launched, a resounding BANG echoed through the chamber, causing the duel to come to an abrupt halt. All eyes turned towards the source of the sound: Sev, standing tall with a smoking hand cannon in his gloved grip. Tension thrummed throughout the room as the gaze of every Valkorian swiveled to fix upon the enigmatic figure.
Serina's initial shock at Sev's sudden appearance shifted to a mix of emotions. Her inherent pride for standing her ground against his fellow Valkorians gave way to a deep sense of shame and embarrassment, knowing she had defied her lover's explicit instructions.
"Clear the room!" Darius bellowed with commanding authority.
Sev, with a stern expression, lowered his hand cannon, aiming the barrel directly at the helmeted head of the Valkorian who had wielded the blade. Despite the formidable Hyperium armor, its pure surface revealed a vulnerability that Sev's weapon could exploit.
With a firm yet controlled tone, Sev issued a terse command, "Put that blade away."
His words carried a weight of anger and seriousness that immediately dissolved the woman's combat readiness into a feeling of shame. "I- but-... Yes, Sev," she stammered, hastily complying with his order, before going to assist her fallen comrade.
The room swiftly emptied as the Valkorians dispersed, leaving Sev, Darius, and the now-shamed woman with her comrade who had been on the receiving end of Serina's fierce combat skills. The chamber that had buzzed with excitement and conflict mere moments ago was now filled with a heavy silence, one strained by an awkward tension.
Darius motioned the two injured Valkorians over to him and sternly scolded them for their brash and reckless actions. With the others now distracted, Sev was free to focus on Serina. Her amber eyes were directed toward the ground, refusing to make eye contact with Sev. Nevertheless, she could feel the weight of his stern gaze bearing down on her, even though his visor concealed his expression.
As he strode up next to her, Serina felt his presence looming over her. The silence between them stretched out, even as the byplay between Darius and the women warriors continued. Serina willed Sev to say something, anything! But he remained stoic and silent. She felt like she was being judged by him and she hated it.
"Listen! I- they started this! I- just had to!" Serina exclaimed defensively. She finally looked up, her frustration evident. Sev still remained silent. "Ugh! Why are you doing this?! Say something, dammit! They were disrespecting me! I had to show them who I was! Isn’t that what you want?? For me to prove to them that I am a woman worthy of you?!" she continued, her gaze piercing Sev's black, emotionless visor.
Sev sighed heavily, sending a shiver down Serina's spine. She braced herself for the scolding she expected but, to her surprise, she felt his gloved hand gently wiping away the blood from her forehead. "Are you okay?" he asked, with genuine concern in his voice.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips, and she affectionately held onto his wrist. "Yeah... I'm okay," Serina replied softly. Sev placed his hands on both sides of her head and examined her lightly battered face. She had some bruising and minor cuts but, overall, she seemed relatively unharmed.
"What am I going to do with you?" Sev sighed with a touch of humor.
Serina chuckled and teased, "Make me your woman?" Shaking his head, he pulled her into a warm embrace. Serina purred with contentment as she his strong arms enveloped her.
As they hugged, Serina saw that Darius was giving a proper scolding to the two women that she had fought. She could hear his deep roaring voice speaking to them in their tongue. Their helmeted heads bowed in shame. Serina felt a little bad, she was the one who challenged them in the first place. But they were the ones who instigated things.
As soon as Darius finished speaking to the two injured Valkorians, the large man turned his attention to Serina and Sev. As he approached them, Serina recognized the same stern demeanor in Darius as in Sev.
"Is she okay?" Darius asked, his usual friendly, booming voice now more serious. Serina was genuinely anxious as she stood before the imposing man, and although she wished Sev would protect her, he released her from his embrace, allowing her to face the consequences of her actions.
"Uh, yes?" Serina replied awkwardly.
Darius continued, his tone serious, "What you did was certainly impressive, but it was also reckless and stupid." Serina let out a sigh, acknowledging her impulsive actions. "I'm pleased to see your combat skills, but such behavior can breed discourse. Healthy competition is one thing, but what you did to those two could foster grudges. I managed to talk them down this time, but you can't act like that here. If you want to be part of our order, you must learn to work harmoniously with your future brothers and sisters. Do you understand?"
Serina replied softly, "Yes, I understand."
"Good. Now, go to the infirmary and have that wound looked at," Darius commanded before turning to Sev and nodding, then leaving the chamber.
Now that Sev and Serina were alone, Sev signaled for her to follow him to the infirmary. Serina nodded and trailed her Valkorian lover out of the room. However, as she followed, she began to fall behind. Wincing and gasping for breath, she leaned against the walls for support.
Sev quickly noticed that she was struggling and turned around. "Serina? What's wrong?" he asked urgently, walking over to her and placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I- I'm fine... I just need to catch my breath for a moment," Serina wheezed weakly. Sev carefully observed Serina to try to determine what was causing her distress.
"Kira, please conduct a bio scan on Serina," he instructed his trusty AI.
"Yes, boss," Kira obediently replied, and Sev’s black visor briefly flickered blue before providing the results. "Serina has sustained multiple bruised ribs and is suffering from minor internal bleeding," Kira reported. Tracing his gloved hand down her torso, Sev gently applied pressure to Serina's side.
"Hey, ow! Augh, stop that!" Serina hissed in pain. Although she had emerged victorious in her confrontation with the two Valkorian women, she had not escaped unscathed. They had managed to inflict significant injuries on her and, as the adrenaline wore off, the pain from her injuries was becoming more pronounced.
"Is it anything severe?" Sev asked Kira.
"No, but we should take her to the infirmary right away," Kira insisted. Nodding in agreement, Sev gently scooped up Serina into a bridal carry.
"Gah! Hey! I can walk on my own, dammit!" Serina protested though she winced in pain once more, realizing that her injuries made it too painful to walk.
As she was being carried down the halls, Serina blushed in embarrassment. She cursed at Sev in her mind for carrying her like this, as she had never been fond of being pampered. However, as she looked up at him, she couldn't help but feel something warm in her chest, aside from the pain. She saw him as her knight in shining armor, and a mixture of gratitude and affection filled her heart.
Once they reached the infirmary, Serina was formally introduced to the sect's Grand Mender, Nessa. Nessa expressed her delight at Sev's return. Prior to his departure, she had tended to his wounds and provided him with care ever since his adolescence, making her the closest thing to a motherly figure in Sev's life.
Over the next couple of hours, Nessa carried out various medical tests and procedures on Serina, making the most of the advanced medical technology at her disposal. During their time together, they also grew well acquainted with one another. Nessa was intrigued by Sev's outsider companion, recognizing the strength and unwavering determination within her. After the medical procedures were completed, Serina thanked the Grand Mender for her skilled care and left the infirmary with Sev.
"How are you feeling?" Sev asked as they walked together. Serina stretched her arms upward, feeling revitalized, and let out a sigh of relief.
"I feel good! Wow, Nessa is quite the healer," Serina exclaimed. Sev nodded in agreement.
"So, what now?" Serina inquired, curious about their next steps.
Sev took a moment to contemplate her question. "Hm, your armor won't be ready for a few days. So I guess I'll have to show you more of our ways until then," he explained. Serina nodded, feeling a flurry of anxious yet excited emotions about what lay ahead.
-
For the next few days, Sev diligently taught Serina about his people's ways. She delved into his people’s rich history and sacred traditions, immersing herself in their cultural heritage. Sev was patient and persistent, even when Serina's stubborn nature occasionally got in the way. He dedicated himself to teaching her their native tongue, despite her initial resistance. Over time, she made gradual progress and began to develop a basic grasp of the language.
Sitting in the stands of the sparring arena, Sev and Serina delved into a brief lesson about the upcoming induction ceremony. Serina was carefully briefed on what to expect and how to comport herself, especially considering her occasionally brash nature. Sev wanted to ensure that she was well-prepared for this significant event in their culture.
“Mhm, and where will I be getting this insignia tattooed?” Serina inquired.
Sev elaborated on the details of the induction ceremony. "You will have a sleeve tattoo on either forearm, depending on your preference. This tattoo represents our sect, and the symbols and texts used can vary among different Valkorian sects throughout the galaxy. Additionally, my family's insignia will be tattooed just behind your right ear. This marks you as my woman and a formal member of Clan Balteus," he explained to Serina, making sure she understood the significance of the tattoos and the ceremony.
Serina slowly nodded and inquired, "What does your family's insignia look like?”
“Our insignia is an Aetherian Leviathor,” he answered.
Serina slowly nodded, her curiosity piqued. "I'm not sure I've ever heard of an Aetherian Leviathor. What does it look like?" She awaited Sev's description, eager to learn more about his family's insignia.
Sev considered her question and decided to provide a more detailed explanation. "Well, it's akin to a colossal sand dragon, a magnificent creature that dwells in the deserts of Aetheria. In the past, my family would ride these majestic beasts into battle." Serina nodded, her imagination crafting a vivid image of the Aetherian Leviathor.
Serina carefully rubbed behind her right ear, contemplating the idea of having Sev's family insignia etched permanently into her skin, a symbol of her commitment to him. Over the past few days, she had delved deep into his family's history. Rather than finding a history of noble warriors, she had instead discovered a bloodline of stone-cold killers who had etched their family name into the Valkorian history books with the blood of their enemies. They were warlords, assassins, and hunters… Now Serina understood why Sev was such a proficient bounty hunter. Unfortunately, in line with his family's nature, their numbers had been significantly reduced over time due to years of conflict. The recent deaths of Maxus and his children now left Sev as the last surviving member of his bloodline.
Serina wasn't easily swayed by the intimidating aspects of Sev's family history. She had learned, through her own experiences, that the galaxy was a brutal and unforgiving place, where the strong thrived and the weak perished. She never held strong idealistic principles, understanding that, in many cases, certain actions had to be taken, regardless of their moral implications.
After a few more days of preparation and training, the moment finally arrived for Serina to receive her armor. She had already undergone the process of having the sect's symbols tattooed on her left forearm and Sev's family insignia behind her right ear. In the days leading up to this, she had undergone a series of tests to prove her worth and dedication to the sect. Despite some bumps and bruises, she had passed all these successfully.
Serina now proceeded down the hallways toward Elder Remus's chamber, escorted by Darius and another notable Valkorian named Hadrian. Instead of her usual attire, she wore ceremonial white robes that revealed some of her skin. Initially, she had been skeptical about wearing such revealing clothing, but Sev had insisted that this was a crucial part of the ritual. She needed to demonstrate her strong composure to the other armored Valkorians, proving her determination and strength even without the protection of her armor.
With her amber eyes fixed straight ahead, Serina passed groups of Valkorians gathered in the halls. Their opaque black visors closely observed her, making her aware of their scrutiny as she moved forward.
As she walked, Serina felt goosebumps rising on her skin, the cold floor chilling her bare feet. Each step felt like walking on thin ice, and she was determined not to let her composure break. She was well aware that not all the Valkorians would fully accept her due to her outsider status. However, during her brief time among them, she had at least earned a significant amount of respect from them.
At last, Serina reached the imposing doors of Remus's chambers. As the doors slid open, she let out a sigh of relief, her tense journey through the hallways now at an end. Stepping forward, she entered the room and was met with an eerie darkness, save for the blue flame that cast an otherworldly glow in the center of the chamber.
Darius and Hadrian remained outside, guarding the doors as Serina ventured further into the darkness of the chamber. As she approached the eerie blue flame, her gaze fell upon Elder Remus, who was accompanied by another figure, a male Valkorian. His presence piqued her curiosity as she didn't recognize him. His armor, black with intricate gold engravings, was distinctive, and he wore a black-cloaked cape that added an air of authority. The commander’s pauldron on his right shoulder bore familiar engravings, and his visor emitted an imperious golden glow.
Despite the mystery surrounding the man, Serina couldn't shake the strange sense of familiarity that connected them. Her gaze was drawn to his visor's golden glow, which held a captivating allure. However, Elder Remus's words brought her attention back to the matter at hand.
"Ah, you are here, Serina," the elder greeted her. "During your tenure here, you have learned much about our ways. You've proven your worth to others and strengthened your resolve. I always believed that your determination would lead you here. So, are you ready to receive your armor?"
Serina respectfully lowered her head, showing her readiness. "Yes, Elder Remus. I am ready," she replied with gratitude. "Thank you for believing in me."
Elder Remus gestured towards the enigmatic Valkorian, who turned and led a hover casing over toward Serina. She realized that the casing must contain her new armor. "Go ahead, Serina," Remus encouraged her. As Serina looked down, she noticed a handprint scanner. She cautiously extended her hand and placed it on the screen, which then proceeded to scan her hand. After a brief moment, the casing began to slowly open, revealing her armor waiting inside.
Excitement and anxiousness welled up within Serina as she stood before the open casing containing her Hyperium armor. She had waited for this moment for what felt like an eternity, and she didn't doubt her worthiness; she knew she had earned this honor. Serina couldn't wait to share this monumental moment with Sev, eager to see his reaction when she presented her new armor to him.
Her anticipation building, Serina peered inside the casing, and her amber eyes widened in astonishment as they fell upon her meticulously crafted Hyperium armor. The suit was a sleek black with intricate gold engravings that accentuated its elegance. It even had its own feminine touch. The design appeared tailored to her flexible and nimble combat style, featuring specialized compartments and sheaths for her arsenal of blades. A broad grin of satisfaction graced her lips as she realized how perfectly this armor had been custom-made for her.
However, her sense of déjà vu struck as she glanced at the helmet. There, she recognized a distinctive gold visor. Puzzled for a moment, she lifted her gaze and fixed her eyes on the enigmatic Valkorian standing in the room. Her voice quivered with curiosity and realization as she cautiously called out, "S-Sev?"
Sev acknowledged Serina's presence with a subtle nod, his actions sending waves of happiness and surprise coursing through her. She couldn't help but wonder why he had donned different armor, but the looming presence of Elder Remus redirected her focus.
The elder spoke with gravity and meaning, emphasizing the significance of the armor Serina was about to receive. It wasn't just a set of equipment; it was a representation of their culture and people, an embodiment of Valkorian values and identity As she listened intently to Elder Remus, the weight of the responsibility she was about to undertake began to settle upon her.
Once he concluded, he asked her a crucial question, one that would signify her formal acceptance into their sect. With unwavering determination, Serina answered, "I understand, Elder Remus. I will bear the responsibility of being a Valkorian and uphold the traditions of the sect and our people." Her commitment was evident in her words and resolute demeanor. Remus rubbed his white beard and grinned pridefully.
“Good, now put on your armor,” he urged. Serina happily obliged.
As Serina adjusted her arm bracers, she couldn't help but feel the weight of responsibility that came with her new armor. Looking over at Sev and Elder Remus, who both nodded in acknowledgment, she felt a surge of pride and determination. It was clear that she had embraced her role as a Valkorian and had every intention of upholding their traditions and values.
Her gaze lingered on Sev, her partner and guide on this journey. She noticed the striking similarities between her armor and his, particularly the features that seemed to signify their shared family name, Balteus. It was a moment of realization that they were bound by more than just their partnership; they were now part of the same lineage, carrying forward the legacy of their family.
"Hmm, you look like you were born to wear that armor. Wear it with pride and make us proud. You've earned it," Remus happily praised Serina. She smiled beneath her helmet and nodded. Then, clapping his hands once, he declared, "Henceforth, you are now Serina Valeria Balteus, the first wife of Sevilius Corin Balteus! May your lineage thrive for the years to come!" Serina took a moment to reflect on her new middle name and the title of 'first wife'. For the moment, however, she was too proud and elated to dwell on these details.
Stepping closer to her, Sev placed his gloved hand on her shoulder and pulled her into a warm embrace. Serina happily returned his hug. Pulling away, they affectionately placed their helmeted foreheads against each other.
"I like your new look, tiger," Serina said with a joyful hum.
"Hm, not too bad yourself either," Sev replied with a smile behind his helmet.
Kneeling on one knee, Sev bowed his head, and his voice held a deep, unwavering commitment as he addressed Serina, "I, Sevilius Corin Balteus, vow to honor you, to cherish and protect you for all the days of my life, until my last breath escapes my lips." His words resonated with profound meaning, and his eyes locked upon Serina's with intensity and devotion.
Serina's heart swelled with emotion as she watched Sev, her beloved Valkorian, make his heartfelt declaration. She could feel the sincerity in every word, and it touched her deeply. Sev continued, his voice strong and unwavering, "I promise to stand by your side through all the challenges and triumphs that life may bring. I will be your shield, your confidant, and your unwavering support. Together, no force in the universe can sever the bond we share, and I vow to be your loving partner in this journey that lies ahead."
Serina, who had always prided herself on her emotional resilience, felt a flood of emotions surging through her as Sev's heartfelt words resonated with her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she lovingly placed her hands on her armored chest. With great tenderness, Sev removed his helmet and revealed a side of himself Serina had never seen before – a warm, happy, and deeply affectionate expression.
Following his lead, Serina slowly removed her helmet. As they stood face to face, Sev gently cupped her face, and their lips met in a passionate, heartfelt kiss. Their connection was palpable as they embraced, their foreheads touching, and their eyes locked in a gaze that spoke volumes of love and commitment.
Elder Remus couldn't contain his pride and happiness as he witnessed the union of the newly formed couple. A sense of relief filled him, knowing that he had played a role in securing the continuation of a legendary bloodline.
With profound gratitude to Elder Remus, Sev, and Serina put their helmets back on and exited the chamber. Serina had walked in as an outsider but now walked out as a full-fledged Valkorian. Darius and Hadrian couldn't hide their amazement at the sight of the pair’s new armor.
Darius enthusiastically shared his approval of Sev's new look, believing that the armor was well-suited for his position. As they strolled through the hallways, many of Serina's new brothers and sisters greeted her warmly.
Hadrian approached Sev and offered an affirming handshake. "Congrats, brother," he said with a genuine smile under his helmet. Sev nodded in acknowledgment.
After some minor festivities, Sev led Serina to his quarters. They had been staying in separate rooms since their arrival, but now there was no further reason to deny his longing for her touch. Seeing her in her new armor had further stirred his desire to consummate their bond.
Serina was in awe as she entered her lover's personal quarters. The space was minimalistic, featuring an armor rack, weapons locker, and a desk area with a monitor and various personal trinkets from Sev's early life. While exploring the room, she noticed a portrait of two individuals on his desk.
Examining the portrait more closely, Serina noticed that both Sev and the older woman were depicted without their helmets. In the picture, Sev appeared significantly happier and more vibrant than his usual stoic and serious self. The deep connection between the two was evident, and it was clear that their relationship was more of a mentorship or maternal one rather than a romantic bond.
Serina's curiosity was piqued, and she couldn't help but wonder about the story behind the image and the woman who’d had such a significant impact on Sev's life.
Sev, unclasping his cloaked cape, looked at Serina with a hint of curiosity. "What are you thinking?" he inquired as he observed her studying the portrait.
Serina, caught in her reverie, shook her head and quickly returned the portrait to its place. "Uh, nothing. Just looking at your stuff," she replied, turning around to face her close companion. Spotting a nearby chair, she sat down and crossed her legs.
Sev pulled another chair over to face her and sat down directly facing Serina. "So, how does it feel to be a Valkorian?" he asked. Serina rubbed her chin on her helmet, deep in thought as she contemplated his question.
"Hm, strangely I don't feel anxious about it at all. It's almost like this was meant to be... Is that weird, or is it just me?" she replied with a hint of uncertainty.
Sev shook his head and chuckled. "No, that's a good thing. Feeling like you belong here is essential. Uncertainty about your identity can cause unneeded distractions. You’ve earned this. So there’s no need to fret," he reassured her. "You are a Valkorian now, one of us." Serina returned his reassuring smile.
“Hm, wow… I’m a real Valkorian now. Isn’t that something…” Serina muttered as she held her armored arms out to observe herself. Noting how the details matched with Sev’s, she wondered where his old set of armor had gone. “Hey, what happened to your old armor? And why does our armor look so much alike?” she questioned.
"Elder Remus forged this new set just for me. These colors represent our clan. This armor is typically worn by the head of the Clan, which I now am – even though I don't have a clue about being a leader," Sev explained with a nervous chuckle. "As for the matching armor, it's a tradition for the heads of the family to have similar armor, at least to some extent," he continued.
"Why? Don’t you like the black and gold?" Sev chuckled. Serina quickly shook her head.
"No, it's not that... It's nice, actually. I think it's kind of cute that we have matching armor," she clarified. "But I was hoping I could add some of my own personal touches... If that's allowed, of course. If not, I'm totally fine with just this."
Sev nodded. "You can customize the armor however you like, just as long as you maintain the colors," he assured Serina.
Serina's face lit up with excitement. "That's great! I have a few ideas in mind. I'll make it unique, but I promise to be faithful to the original colors," she replied with enthusiasm.
Sev smiled, delighted by Serina's enthusiasm. "I can't wait to see what you come up with. It'll be something exceptional, I’m sure," he remarked. "Once we leave here, we can visit my weapon-monger Roxy, over on Redshift-9, to give our armor a more modern touch. While this armor looks cool, it's a bit dated in style.” Serina nodded in agreement. The armor did have a somewhat ornamental quality to it, and she knew Sev had his own preferences for combat and utility tech. He was particularly enamored of Coalition-grade hardware, known for being top-of-the-line military-grade equipment.
For the next half hour, they continued conversing just as they had used to, before all of these changes. Since they had arrived at the Conclave, their discussions had necessarily been filled with traditions and history, leaving no room for casual chat. Returning to a sense of normalcy was a welcome relief.
As they conversed, Serina playfully and sensually began to caress Sev's leg with her booted foot. Her actions made it increasingly challenging for him to concentrate on the conversation. Like Sev, Serina had been yearning for his touch. The experience of having his insignia etched into her skin aroused a deep desire within her. She no longer just needed him; she actively wanted him.
Sev met Serina's gaze, his helmeted face concealing any overt expressions. Her matching armor rendered her even more alluring to him than before. He could feel the intense chemistry between them, heightened by the significance of their new bond.
He responded with a suggestive tone, "Now that we're officially united, I think we should explore the privileges of our new status." Serina's eyes sparkled with anticipation, her foot's caress on his armored leg continuing.
“Hmm, yeah?” Serina hummed suggestively. Sev nodded.
-
As they finished hanging up their respective sets of armor, Sev and Serina stood there, their naked bodies on full display. They gazed at each other, appreciating each other's enticing forms. Serina admired Sev's well-defined muscles and the scars that adorned his skin, giving him a rugged, masculine appeal that she found irresistible. Sev, in turn, couldn't help but admire Serina's graceful, toned physique, appreciating her every curve and her shapely bust.
Bracing her hands on her hips, Serina bit her lip as she observed her lover. She noticed the intensity in Sev's gaze, his eyes fixed on her enticing figure. She couldn't resist a playful tease as she quipped, "Are you planning to keep staring at me, or will you finally get over here and kiss your woman?"
Sev shook his head, snapping back to the moment. With a nod, he closed the distance between them, approaching Serina with purpose. Her eyes widened with anticipation as he drew near. Gently, he cupped her face with his strong, rough hands and leaned down to capture her lips in a fiery kiss. A wave of joy and affection washed over Serina as their mouths met, igniting their passion.
They lost themselves in the kiss, their desire evident in their fervent embrace. Serina squealed into his mouth feeling his hands take firm command of her voluptuous rear cheeks. She could feel Sev starting to seize control of the situation like he usually did. But Serina wanted to make a change. Her newfound confidence from becoming a true Valkorian had emboldened her.
With a determined passion, Serina pushed against Sev, skillfully maneuvering their bodies toward his bed. Once there, she placed her hands on his solid chest and assertively shoved him onto the bed. Sev's eyes widened in pleasant surprise as Serina assumed control. While she manifested moments of assertiveness in the past, these tended to be rare, typically occurring after particularly intense missions or well-earned accomplishments.
“I know you should be the one taking point. But I don’t think I want that,” Serina teasingly said. “Allow me to get a taste of my new man…” Leaning down, she wrapped her slender fingers around Sev’s stiffening manhood. She bit her lips as she felt his heat and how heavily he throbbed.
“Hmm, someone seems excited to see me again,” Serina seductively cooed. Sev just smirked. Serina knelt, bringing her face up close to Sev’s now fully erect cock. “Hmm, it’s so big. I can’t believe that this is mine, and mine alone,” she hummed. Sev couldn’t help but feel uneasy at her words, remembering the strength with which Elder Remus had suggested that he needed to seek out other companions. Sev kicked himself; he should have already brought those discussions up with Serina.
Stretching her tongue from her mouth, Serina planted it at the bottom of his shaft and began to lick and slather his shaft, coating it in her wet saliva. Sev quietly groaned at the straightforwardly salacious way in which his lover was pleasuring him.
Moving up to Sev’s cockhead, Serina then enveloped it in her lush lips and worked her way down his shaft. Sev grunted and placed a hand on her head, weaving his fingers into her short hair. Serina hummed with pleasure as she felt his strong grip on her hair. Sev assisted her in giving him oral pleasure. Serina could feel her slit getting wet and hot with arousal.
Reaching a hand down to her moist lips, she began to play with herself as she continued giving her lover head. She slurped and sucked away. Sev reveled in the warmth of her wet mouth and throat. He always appreciated how skilled Serina was at the art of fellatio. But, sensing how close he was already getting, Sev pushed her head away from his member, leaving thick webs of saliva stretching from her lips to his cockhead.
Serina tilted her head, curious why he’d stopped her. Usually, he was happy enough to let her go until he’d orgasmed down her throat. Instead, Sev now used his strength to lift Serina onto her feet and sat her down on the edge of the bed alongside him. Then, falling to his own knees in front of her, he got between Serina’s long legs and pulled her towards him until his face was positioned point blank in front of her sopping pussy.
Serina gasped and chuckled with eager anticipation. As their eyes locked, Sev let out a mischievous smirk that made Serina's heart skip a beat. It was a look she had never seen from him before, and it sent shivers down her spine. Then, leaning forward, Sev reverently pressed his lips against her wet slit.
“Ohhhh,” Serina moaned out in pleasure as Sev held onto her thighs for leverage. He sensually kissed and licked her womanly parts, making sure to investigate every nook and cranny. He hummed with satisfaction as he swallowed her sweet tasty nectar, adding to the pleasure he was delivering to her.
Feeling his tongue slip past her folds, Serina gasped and grabbed Sev’s short black hair. Her thighs involuntarily squeezed her lover’s head. Her immense strength caused him to groan and attack her further.
Serina’s amber eyes rolled back and her tongue sexily fell from her mouth in response to Sev’s wiggling his big tongue around in her soaking love canal. Falling onto her back, she arched her ass up from the bed and rolled her hips deeper into Sev’s mouth. She gripped the sheets for dear life as waves of pleasure pulsed through her body.
“Ah ah ah, yes… Right there. Keep going, my love… Ah…” she mewled. She sexily ran her delicate hands across her body.
But her pleasure momentarily ceased as Sev unsheathed his tongue from within her. Frustrated, Serina tilted her head up to see why her lover had stopped plying his tongue. Sev pried her strong legs from his head, splaying them apart and causing Serina to gasp in consternation. Firmly holding her legs in their new position, he gave her pussy a nice long lick from bottom to top, causing her eyelids to quiver and a shiver to shoot up her spine.
Sev smirked at how well he was making his woman feel. But he wanted her to feel even better. He wrapped his lips around her clit, sending Serina into sudden squeals as Sev eagerly sucked and tickled her with his tongue. She grabbed his hair again and pulled him in deeper to extract as much pleasure as possible.
“Augh! Yes, Sev! Holy shit! Keep going! Keep doing that!” Serina wailed. She could feel her climax creeping exponentially closer. Her body burned with searing pleasure. Her senses were overloading, melting her mind.
After only a few final sucks and licks, Serina’s body exploded with pleasure. “AHHHH!” she screamed, almost ripping the hair from Sev’s scalp. Her sweet cream gushed from her slit, threatening to drown her lover. Her toes clenched and curled as her orgasm ravaged her body.
Sev groaned, unable to draw breath. He had all he could do to keep pace with Serina’s essence until he could breathe again. As her orgasm subsided, Serina finally released her vice grip from his hair, allowing him to pull away.
Wiping his mouth he watched Serina’s chest heave as she gasped for air. “Augh… Sev, lie back on the bed,” Serina commanded, her voice still weak and trembling. Sev was slightly taken aback by her rather stern orders but, given how much he was enjoying her little dominant streak, he chose to comply.
Letting go of her legs, he climbed onto the bed and lay on his back. Serina rolled herself over and straddled his lap. Reaching down, she grabbed hold of his manhood. “Mhmm, get ready, big boy. We’re about to consummate our bond once and for all,” Serina cooed in a low voice.
"You know, it's traditional for the man to take the lead here," Sev joked as he grasped Serina's hips.
Serina chuckled, but playfully smacked his hands away. "Hands off, naughty boy," she teased before continuing: "Hm, perhaps... But then I'm not a traditional woman, am I?" She referred to her former human status. "And I know you love it when I take the lead. You're probably going nuts behind those stoic eyes of yours." Sev just rolled his eyes and conceded the lead to his woman.
"No touching until I say so. I want this for myself," Serina commanded, her voice filled with a hint of playful dominance. “I’ll let you know when I want your touch.”
Finally lowering herself down onto Sev’s manhood, Serina let out a sigh of pleasure. She moaned to feel his large masculinity delve into her warm depths. Once she had fully bottomed out, she planted her hands on his muscular chest. Sev glanced at her tattooed left forearm bearing their sect’s hieroglyphs.
Serina began to sensually roll her hips up and down on her lover. Sultry moans of pleasure emerged from her lips as Sev lay beneath her. Her sexy nude body was on full display and he was eager to hold her. But remembering her explicit orders, he staved off those urges for now.
“Hmm, oh, yes. I fucking love to ride your cock, my love,” Serina cooed as she continued to rise and descend upon his hard love pole. Locking eyes, they gazed intensely at each other during their passionate lovemaking. Then, seeing the way his muscular arms were slowly inching down his side toward her legs, Serina mischievously smirked.
"Ah, ah, ah, no touching. Be a good boy and keep those hands away," Serina teasingly chided. Sev let out a low growl but managed to slide his hands back. Serina sensed his frustration. A part of her thrilled at how much he longed to touch her, but another part feared what would come when she finally allowed it.
Serina sped up the pace at which she was riding him: she bounced up and down his cock like a wild cowgirl. Wanting more leverage, she planted her feet on the bed and began to slam her ass more aggressively on her lover. She could see Sev wincing and gripping the sheets, trying to conceal the extreme amount of pleasure he was receiving.
Peering into Sev’s dark orbs, Serina could see him begging to touch her, the desperation with which he needed to hold her. She felt a little sympathetic, but she needed him to hold out just a little bit longer: her orgasm was almost upon her.
The sounds of their heavy panting and their slapping flesh filled the room. They were sweating beads at this point and, as much as Serina loved riding Sev, she was getting a little tired. But her orgasm was so close that, rather than relent, she instead intensified her riding.
Her mouth parted sexily and her tongue hung past her lips as she moaned in rhythm to her bouncing. “Ah ah ah, hmmm, yes, oh fuck…” she mewled. “I’m getting close… I’m gonna… I’m gonna… AHHHHH!” she screamed as she slammed her ass down onto Sev’s lap. She quivered and moaned as she came once more.
Her eyes rolled back into her skull as her nerves fired on all cylinders. Serina’s trembling body was so alluring to Sev. He knew that she’d forbidden him to touch her until she said so, but he couldn’t take it anymore. Plus, since he was the man of the relationship, it was his right.
Taking advantage of her vulnerable state, Sev firmly grasped her hips, causing Serina to gasp and roll her alluring amber eyes. "Hey! I said no touching!" she hissed, her voice still trembling. Yet, as she felt his strong hands grip her hips even tighter, she couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement.
“Augh! No! Listen to me, you brute! No, you- ohhh,” she tried to say, but Sev ignored her as he forcibly ground her hips into his lap. She felt his manhood contorting her inner walls. She grabbed onto his wrists and glared into his eyes.
Sev chuckled and playfully teased, "You should watch your tongue, my love. Remember who's in charge here." Despite her defiant glare, the feeling of his immense strength on her hips led Serina to yield to his playful dominance.
"I- of course, my love," Serina quietly replied. Though she had to swallow her pride a bit, their shared endearment made their playful banter more enjoyable.
With a tender smile, Sev sat up from the bed and leaned closer to Serina. His lips brushed against her right ear as he whispered, “Good girl.” Serina’s cheeks turned beet red as a mixture of embarrassment and delight filled her chest at his words.
Pulling away, he moved to her soft lips and locked his lips with hers. As they passionately made out, Serina wrapped her arms around his neck. Resuming her movements, she began to roll her hips into his lap.
“Mhmm, put your legs around me. I’ll take over from here,” Sev said, briefly interrupting their fervent kiss. Slowly nodding, Serina wrapped her long legs around his torso.
Serina’s chest was pounding with excitement. She always loved it when Sev took control, allowing her to focus exclusively on her own pleasure. She could feel his warmth as her soft boobs pressed up against his rock-solid chest.
Serina clung to her strong man as he lifted her up to reposition them so that he was kneeling between her enveloping legs. “You ready?” he asked in a low voice, gazing deeply into her eyes. Serina eagerly nodded.
As he thrust his hips up into her, slamming his manhood against her cervix, Serina gasped. She clawed at his back with her nails and hugged him tightly with her legs. The two rutted like animals in heat. Sev gave Serina long fast strokes causing her to burrow her face into his neck and sink her teeth into him.
Sev winced and groaned as he felt the sharp pain from her teeth. But a mere nip didn’t deter him. As he upped the intensity of his thrusts, Serina released her teeth from his neck and began to let out a flurry of loud moans that threatened to echo through the halls of the residential quarters. Luckily, the walls were all soundproof.
After they had made love to each other in this position, Sev decided to switch things up. Picking Serina up, he lifted her off the bed and carried her over to a nearby wall. Her back pinned against the black-colored wall, Serina gasped and chuckled with excitement.
“Oh! Yes! Take me against this fucking wall, Sev. Take me!” she begged in a breathy voice. She dropped her left leg down for support as Sev grabbed her other leg and raised it above his shoulder, straining her incredible flexibility.
Returning to his heavy thrusts and rutting, Sev stuffed his face into Serina’s neck and began to eagerly kiss her. She moaned and grinned with pleasure as her man took what was rightfully his.
His monstrous manhood filled her up perfectly. Serina was so happy to have a man like Sev. He was so strong and caring and could fuck incredibly well. She couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. Sev continued to kiss and lap up Serina’s sweet sweat from her neck. The feeling of his hot wet tongue against her skin short-circuited her senses.
But her pleasure was momentarily interrupted as Sev withdrew himself from her sopping pussy. “Augh, why did you stop??” Serina hissed frustratedly.
Sev lowered her leg before replying, “Get back on the bed. I want you face down, and ass up.” Serina’s stomach fluttered at his commands. He had rarely spoken to her like this. It was exhilarating!
Doing as her man commanded, Serina dashed back over to bed. Lying prone, she sexily arched her back and lifted her ass. Spreading her legs apart, she displayed her wet and ready pussy for her strong mate. She made sure she hypnotically swayed her hips from side to side… side to side…
Feeling the bed sink behind her, Serina’s heart pounded with anticipation. She winced and let out a quiet moan as his strong hands took hold of her soft cheeks. Then his manhood probed her slit and he promptly slid himself back where he belonged. Serina’s eyelids fluttered and she shoved her face into the bed.
Her muffled screams of pleasure resounded through the room as Sev incessantly pounded away at her tight pussy. She writhed and gripped the sheets as their flesh clapped against each other. All the while Sev kept kneading and groping her cheeks in his rough hands.
The two lovers breathed heavily as they rutted away. The air was thick with the exudations of sex; their bodies glistened with sweat. Sev grunted heavily as he pistoned his hips, slamming away at Serina’s pulsating hole. He couldn’t tear his gaze from her perfectly toned back as it arched for him. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever come across.
Reaching down, Sev grabbed Serina’s shoulders and levered her body up to meet his. Reaching around her torso, he palmed her soft breasts and began to knead them tenderly. “Oh! Hmm, feel me up, Sev. Mhm, just like that,” Serina cooed perfectly, her slender hands rising to grip his wrists. Turning her head to him, she puckered her lips for a kiss. Her lover obliged and locked lips with her, their tongues dancing together in passionate affection.
Pulling away from their passionate kiss, Serina seamlessly transitioned into speaking their Valkorian tongue, surprising Sev with her fluency. As she uttered words of love and affection, Sev momentarily paused, captivated by her linguistic prowess. Smirking playfully, Serina glanced at Sev from the corner of her eye and quipped, "What's the problem? I'm just putting your teachings to use."
Sev’s heart pound inside his chest. He had never heard anyone speak romantically to him in his ancestral tongue. He remained frozen, just staring at his lover. Serina cocked her brow, becoming mildly concerned. “Hello? Sev? Did I fry your brain or something?” she called back to him, her voice softly sweetening the tones of his warlike language.
Regaining his focus, Sev swiftly spun Serina around and pushed her onto her back. She gasped in surprise at his sudden move. As Sev's formidable presence loomed over her, her amber eyes widened beneath him. The gaze of his dark eyes resembled that of a predator about to pounce upon its helpless prey. But then, Sev uttered something in Valkorian, and a smile graced Serina's lips as she responded fluently in the same language. Sev's eyes widened and his chest swelled with pride and excitement as he realized the progress she had made through their language lessons.
He playfully suggested that they should use their native tongue for the rest of the night, reasoning that they needed the practice. In reality, however, he was simply aroused by the prospect of using their language for more intimate and passionate forms of communication than formal conversation or martial necessity. Serina nodded and agreed.
Wedging himself back between her legs, Sev quickly slipped himself back inside, eliciting moans of pleasure from her husky. Sev held on to her curvaceous hips as he gave her long heavy strokes. Her breasts rippled enticingly with every thrust, mesmerizing Sev with their rhythmic movements.
“Ita! Fac ut serves, amica mea. Bene sentis!” she moaned out in Valkorian. Her words only poured more fuel on the fires of Sev’s lust, leading him to fuck her even harder. Sev was like a man possessed. Serina was loving every second of their intense fucking. She had well known that her use of Valkorian would stir him up.
They groaned and moaned to each other in their shared tongue, rendering their intimacy much more passionate and lustful. Serina held on to her lover’s wrists as he rutted away at her. Tilting her amber eyes down to their conjoined sexes, she fixated on the sight of Sev’s big manhood as it rose and sank within her wet depths, his shaft slathered with her sweet feminine juices.
Serina’s body shook violently under Sev’s muscular frame, as yet another orgasm crashed through her body. Her eyes rolled back and her tongue lolled out sexily from her panting mouth. Still, Sev kept thrusting away, overloading her senses with pleasure.
“Augh! Sev! Pwease! Let me west!” Serina wailed, her words slurred by the haze of lust that roiled her brain. Smirking, Sev leaned down and locked lips with her, causing Serina to squeal and roll her glistening eyes back even further.
Heavy puffs of air exploded from their nostrils as their fucking intensified. Serina’s mind was being reduced to mush as her nerves continued to fire on all cylinders. She was starting to fear that she was never going to make it out of this alive! It was then that Sev leaned in close to Serina’s ear and whispered, “I’m gonna cum…”
Serina’s eyes rolled back into their sockets. Her heart pounded with anticipation. She was glad that he was finally gonna finish, but not in a bad way. Rather for the sake of her sanity, since he was making her lose her mind. “Augh! Do it! Fucking cum, my love! Ah! Please cum for me! I want it! I need it!” Serina begged in a breathy voice.
Sev happily obliged her requests, pounding her even harder. With a few final thrusts, he sunk balls deep inside of her and unleashed his Valkorian seed into her welcoming pussy. Serina moaned at the sensation of her man claiming her as his. His thick warm seed filled her uterus, his swimmers eagerly searching for an egg to bury themselves in. She was still using birth control so there was no meaningful risk of her getting knocked up anytime soon. But the thought lingered alluringly in her mind that his virile Valkorian seed might penetrate her defenses nonetheless, and somehow manage to get her pregnant anyway.
Rope after rope, Sev filled her up. Feeling herself getting filled to the brim ignited yet another body-wrenching orgasm within her. In turn, Serina’s tight walls constricted around Sev’s shaft, milking him for everything he had.
As their shared orgasm finally subsided, the two rested their sweaty foreheads against each other and panted heavily. “Ah… ah… I love you…” Sev said in a low voice. Serina smiled warmly, her chest filled with affection.
“I love you, too…” she happily replied, leaning up and planting an affectionate kiss on his lips…
Serina nestled against Sev's muscular frame as they lay together, reveling in each other's presence. Purring softly, she affectionately rubbed her cheek against his chest while his arm enveloped her. As they shared this intimate moment, Serina's thoughts meandered through the journey that had brought her here. A smirk of pride graced her lips as she reflected on the distance she had traveled and the person she had become.
She pondered the diverging paths her life might have taken if she hadn't encountered this enigmatic man. Shelving any thought of alternate realities, however, she turned her attention back to the present. Serina, now a naturalized Valkorian, held the esteemed title of the first wife of Sev. In that brief pause, her mind fixated on those words: first wife. The more she rolled the title around in her mind, the clearer the meaning of the phraseology seemed.
Serina attempted to recall Elder Remus's words as precisely as she could. She couldn’t recapture the exact wording, but she distinctly remembered the ominous conjunction of those two simple words, ‘first wife’. A strange mix of emotions churned in her stomach at the potentiality of Sev having relationships with other women.
“Sev?” she hesitantly queried, catching his attention. Slowly opening his resting eyes, he turned his head toward her. “I, uh... How do I ask this?” she struggled to articulate the vagaries of her thinking. Sev raised an inquisitive eyebrow, curious about her inquiry. Taking a deep breath, she continued, “What did Elder Remus mean by ‘first wife’?” Sev's eyes widened as if a crucial realization had dawned on him.
Sev looked down at his lover with an uneasy demeanor, quickly sitting up from bed. Serina propped herself up on her arms, tilting her head as she looked up at her lover in curiosity. “Dammit… I forgot to tell you…” Sev quietly muttered. Serina’s eyes widened, realizing where this was leading.
Sighing, Sev took Serina’s hands and held them closely. She could sense his uneasiness and uncertainty. “So… please try not to get mad…” Sev requested, seeking assurance from his usually fiery lover. Serina slowly nodded, but a strange feeling swelled within her chest as she braced for whatever he had to share.
“You see… traditionally, as the head of our family…” he began. “It is normal for a person of …my stature to take on multiple wives at once.” Serina froze. Her interpretation was accurate. Grasping her hands tighter, Sev continued, “Please don’t look at me like that.”
Serina failed to realize that her eyes were subconsciously glaring at Sev. Flickering her eyelids a few times, she shook her head into focus. “Other wives…” she trailed off. She was now able to identify the strange feeling in her chest as jealousy and frustration.
“Augh… Why must you do this to me, Sev…” Serina sighed, rubbing her forehead. The notion of sharing Sev with other women didn't sit well with her, but she recognized that this was the way of her people now that she was a Valkorian. Arguing about it would likely be futile, and as his loyal wife, she understood the importance of respecting his will. But she couldn’t help but clench her fists tightly in a mix of jealousy and confused anger.
“Are you mad?” Sev cautiously asked. Meeting his gaze, Serina took a deep breath to compose herself. She didn’t want to sour what had, up till then, been a passionate and romantic evening.
“I'm not... I understand your duties to our clan. It's imperative that you take many wives to ensure the future of our family.” Although Sev was relieved that she had not yet burst into a fiery ball of anger at the thought of sharing him with other women, he could sense her words were empty fabrications, artificially adapted to the customs of her new culture.
Reaching over and carefully cupping her face, Sev assured his commitment to her. “But you don’t have to worry about me forgetting about you, Serina. You are my first love and wife. You will always be my priority.” His words were sincere and struck deep. Serina smiled warmly, her cheek half tucking into his cupped hand.
“Plus, if it makes you feel any better, I don’t plan on taking on any other women in the near future. This is merely my right. Although Elder Remus is pushing me to take on more women, right now all I’m thinking about is spending lots of quality time with my first wife,” Sev assured her, gently caressing her cheek with his thumb. Serina loved being called his wife. It just rolled so nicely off of his tongue and straight into her mind. “And I’m pretty picky with my women anyways.”
Serina couldn't suppress a chuckle as her raw emotions gradually subsided. "Dammit... I didn't know you could be so convincing, Sev," she sighed, resigning herself to her situation. "But I'll be keeping a very close eye on you. I better not catch you running off with any other girls without my approval," she continued in her sternest tone.
Sev raised an eyebrow in inquiry. "Your approval?" he questioned. Serina confidently nodded.
"Yes. As your first wife, I get to approve of the women you choose," she declared. "Whenever that happens, of course. Hopefully not anytime soon. Just so you're aware."
"Hm, I'm surprised you're taking this so well," Sev teased. Serina rolled her eyes.
"I'm not taking this well. I'm currently cursing you to holy hell inside my head right now. You're lucky that I love you," she said, inflexibly. "Now come here and kiss me so I can forget about all of this." Serina's firm words masked the underlying playfulness in her tone as she extended an invitation for a distraction.
Recognizing that the optimal course of action was to honor his lover's request, he didn't want her to dwell on his responsibilities. Leaning forward, he met her lips with his own. Before long, Serina found herself on her back once more, and their passionate lovemaking resumed, creating an intimate symphony that played out for the rest of the night.

After a night of shared, passionate bonding that consummated their connection, Sev found himself standing at the entrance of the Conclave, a place that felt like a distant memory from ages past.
"Why must you leave so soon? You just got back?" Darius roared, giving Sev a hearty pat on the back. "And Serina just got inducted. Shouldn't she be getting acquainted with her new home at the Conclave?"
Sev indulged him with a chuckle. "Hm, I know, Darius. But this isn't our life. We have responsibilities to return to."
"Running around the galaxy taking contracts for meager rewards is what you call responsibilities? Gah! You should be here, with us!" Darius retorted.
"I wouldn't call them ‘meager’ rewards, but I get your point," Sev replied. "Nevertheless, it's better to utilize my skills than to linger on this dreary rock of a planet doing nothing." Darius shot him a stern look, casting an awkward silence between them.
"You always had a sharp tongue. As much as I hate to admit it, I suppose you might be right. Hmm, I might give this 'bounty hunting' job a try somewhere down the line. It must be interesting," Darius said, breaking the silence.
"I can assure you, interesting is an understatement," Sev agreed.
"Boss, let's get going now. Serina is waiting for you on the ship," Kira informed him through his helmet. With a nod, Sev bid farewell to his brother. Gazing beyond him, he waved to Hadrian and Elder Remus as they faded into the distance before making his way back to his ship.
As the platform closed behind him, Sev caught sight of Serina, apparelled in her complete Hyperium armor, stowing away some gear in their weapons locker. He couldn't help but gaze at her elegant form; the feminine armor hugged her body flawlessly. Sev's eyes were particularly drawn to her ass, the form-fitting undersuit accentuating every curve with enticing allure.
However, his gaze was interrupted by Serina calling out to him. “Whatcha staring at, tiger?” she teasingly said, playfully covering her backside with her hands.
Shaking his head, Sev replied, “You.” Rolling her captivating amber eyes under her helmet, Serina resumed her gear organization.
Sev chuckled a bit before heading to the cockpit of his ship. Seating himself, he began engaging the ship’s systems. “I didn’t know you could be such a pervert,” Kira playfully quipped. Sev paused for a moment. “Eh, sorry, boss. It was just a joke,” she quickly backtracked, her artificial voice sounding uneasy.
Shaking his head back into attention, Sev let out a chuckle and replied, “Just get the ship started and set a course for Redshift-9.”
“Understood, boss. Charting a course for Redshift-9,” Kira obediently said. “Shall I send a heads-up to Roxy?” Sev nodded. “Understood. I’ll make sure to provide her with a list of all your specs and gear, including Serina’s,” she added.
“Thank you, Kira. I can always count on you,” Sev complimented.
Kira let out a small, happy giggle. “Of course, boss.”
Soon, Sev’s ship ascended into the sky, piercing through the thick, stormy atmosphere of Aurelianus Majoris. Activating the ship’s jump drives, they catapulted into the dark expanse of space, ready for Sev's next adventure with his woman by his side and a trusty AI at his hip…
