TOTDC 2, take two? (NSFW) (Patreon)

So, as you know if you have been following me for a while, in my spare time I have been trying to work on a demo for a sequel to an older game of mine (Tales of The Drunken Cowboy). You'll know I was working with Alx for a while (he is an amazing artist, who had also done some fanart for the original TOTDC way back when).

Things didn't quite go as planned, and we decided to part ways. I still had some of the art he had made for the game, and I was hoping to get a new artist which could match his style (I really liked it). Sadly, I have been looking through a LOT of artists' accounts to find someone I would like (and that I could afford), got a few tests going, but never quite found someone with a similar style that I liked as much.

Since I couldn't find a matching artstyle even after all this time, I finally decided to try something completely different. The drawing above would be Malena's new look. I think I like it, but it's an even bigger departure from the original (which used real life pictures shamelessly taken from the internet).

Anyway, I'd like to hear what people think about it, and if they could like this type of style for the game.

Jack Russell

Looks great to me. Really, as long the characters are recognizable from their "real life" image versions, and are consistent throughout the game, it'll be fine as far as most people are concerned. The best part of ToTDC1 was the writing, after all, even if the pictures were a great way to accentuate the story.

Considering what you've done with the first TOTDC and Caliross, I trust you completely to make something great with TOTDC 2. And yes, I like Malena's new design and I'd be happy to play this style of game.

I think it's great. The only two things I really care about when it comes to art are: 1) It's good quality art (which this seems to be, and by this I mostly mean art for which the quirks are artistic choices rather than results of inexperience). 2) It's consistent (ergo, same artist, or, if impossible, as closely matching artstyle as possible; having a character randomly go from anime to cartoon to western in the span of three scenes is extremely jarring).

Neat, frankly I don't mind at all that's a nice one. I prefer drawn pictures rather than real life ones, not sure why, so I don't mind at all! GO FOR IT

Tough. TotDC was and still is one of my favorite porn games and I also loved the choice of models and real pictures, but I understood that for patreon this was not an option. So I was *super* hyped when you anounced cooperation with alx, who is one of my favorite artists and to me has a perfect blend of sexy comic style and western realism. On the flipside, i've never been a fan of anime art where giant eyes and button noses (if any) seem to be the only permitted facial features. It all looks very samey to me and I also was not a fan of the Caliross art moving further and further into this direction. Everyone just looks sorta vapidly cute, almost childlike, when I'm very much into the sultry look that you had going with many of the models in TotDC and that is also a staple of alx's art This art seems sorta middle of the road...would have to see some Celeste art to make up my mind I guess.

It's beautiful. I loved the original and as some others have said, the writing was the real gem. This art style is amazing on it's own and would work wonderfully for the game.

Looks great. I have heard a lot about TotDC, but never played it. So as one unused to the original my thumbs are up on the new artwork

Looks fine to me! The actress you used for TotDC is one of the most uniquely beautiful people I've ever seen in media, so not surprising you can't find art exactly equivalent. This art style looks excellent, and I'm excited to see what you do with the the malleability of drawn art versus photos!

Looks excellent! Would like to see the other characters or Celeste but I think this hits Malena perfectly.

Anything compared to shamelessly taking pictures from the internet will be a big change. One I think would be worth it because that's still my favorite game out of everyone's and I'd love to play a sequel. The above artwork is great and I don't think it would diminish the quality. I don't really care for the 2D game engine that you've been using for your patreon project and at the same time yours is the best I've seen in using that engine. You've got talent and I support everything you're creating.

I like this art style! If I weren't so busy with my day job I'd also be trying to sell you on my art cause I love your games, but I doubt I'd be able to keep up right now with game development. >_< Best of luck.
