Sorry for the delay... But I actually forgot about it! >_<

Anyway, here is something new that Stan drew for me. It's Celeste and her room on the spaceship, what do you guys think? I hope you like the overall vibe and style!

As always, share your thoughts, if you have any.

Looks great, that bed might be a little bit small for Celeste's romantic conquest journey though ;D

Love it. TotDC is easily in my top 3 RAGS games(and probably my favorite that actually got finished), so I'm really looking forward to where you go with the characters next. Plus, it'll be pretty cool to see what you can do when you can have scenes drawn to order instead of having to work with what you can find.

mdqp

I'll have to add an option to buy a larger bed, maybe. XD

I hope the scenes will look great. Having them custom-made should help a lot. :)

The one downside to discovering all the adult games is that most were never finished. TotDC was the one I found that was finished and it quickly became a favorite. I recently started playing Cyberpunk and the premise of an Ai inside your mind reminded me of your awesome game. CP won't live up to theme you created in yours but it makes me eager to play your game again. Can't wait to see what you do for your sequel.

Moofah

Yep, that is what i want in a sci-fi adventure of a rag-tag band. Pretty much perfect. Keep up the good work!

Well, I wish Cyberpunk worked as advertisement for my games for everyone, that would make things much easier! XD I was kind of disappointed with the game. I didn't experience too many glitches, but the story is more spectacle than anything else, and the gameplay feels clunky (with a fastidious input delay, and questionable control layout, although that might be better on a controller), so I refunded it for now. Hopefully they improve it over time.

I left out my opinion on the game cause I didn’t want to throw fuel on the fire but I feel exactly like you do. It was just that moment when you wake up with an Ai in your mind that reminded me of your game. A game I’ll never see the good ending where you didn’t submit much during the game! Just can’t seem to resist!!! Lol

mdqp

It's a pity, because I was looking forward to a nice RPG, but it doesn't feel much like an RPG at all. :( Ha-ha-ha! In my games, being unable to see the ending means I did a good job! XD XD XD

Scars Unseen

Personally, I decided to hold off on buying it until I do my post-tax return PC upgrade this spring(assuming there are any parts to buy by then). Maybe by then there will be sufficient mods to pique my interest.

mdqp

I strongly recommend picking it up on GOG, if you can. That way, you can play a good amount of the game and see if you like it, and return it if you don't. It's hard to realize how wonky some of the stuff can be by watching a video or playing it for a short time.

Arkboy

Looks great mdqp! I think the style is perfect for the feel of totdc. I'm excited for a continuation to the story after that cliffhanger! Have you decided how you want to handle the 'carry over' elements? Something like mass effect when it came out on other consoles where you can just choose your choices as you boot the game?

mdqp

I was thinking about a number of possibilities: First, I have actually prepared an update for the old TOTDC so that you can copy-paste the variables into a .txt file and TOTDC 2 can read that and allow you to continue from your TOTDC 1 ending. Most of the variables aren't used in TOTDC 2 so far, obviously, but I should work on it soon-ish. I was also considering to add a small update to TOTDC 1 for some minor extra content, which is why I haven't made the "variable export" public yet. I'll also prepare a "default" setting for sure, if people don't want to replay totdc 1 just to import the data. Finally, I am thinking of allowing players to simply pick options when relevant, if they want (say, the first time you visit a planet, you get to pick how the important stuff played out in the first game). That or perhaps some some of interactive recap of the first game, I am not 100% sure. Honestly, my biggest worry is how to approach this for new players, but I assume that's always going to be a little awkward no matter what.

cdossy

My suggestion is the interactive recap: you could do it with a more in depth "introduction" option for new players where Cel is describing her previous adventure to someone (or perhaps writing part of her memoirs) and have it give a brief summary of the event and options how she approached it? I feel Cel giving in-game exposition is the "least awkward" option for new players, but again thats jsut my personal take

mdqp

I presume I can play it off as being a medical test after the surgery at the end of TOTDC 1, although I might still need an optional story recap in the menu, to give some more details. The problem is taking care of the smaller options, getting too many choices to pick from in a row might be bothersome. This is the kind of stuff testers and early players will be important for, most likely.

Scars Unseen

You could always go the Dragon Age: Inquisition route and make a short separate "game" that's actually largely a timeline with choices that exports usable data similar to your TotDC update. Then players who either haven't played the original but want a custom start or don't have their TotDC save and don't want to play through before starting the sequel can get the start they want, and you can have a generic starting save state for those who don't want to bother. This approach has the added benefit of allowing complex starting customization options without cluttering up the start of the actual game, which anyone who has ever played a Bioware sequel should be able to appreciate.

mdqp

I think that's a good suggestion, somewhat close to how I was imagining it at first. As long as it's not too overwhelming for either me or the players, it should be a nice approach.

Accultlyte

I loved the first as an idea, but the RAGS really held it back. To be honest I forgot that you made it, but I am glad that you are working on it again! It would be a testament to how you have improved as a game designer to see that revamped. Also *spoiler warning for Cyberpunk 2077* but the main plot of cyberpunk 2077 is basically the plot of TOTDC, ignoring the existence of Neuromancer, they definitely stole the idea from you lol.

mdqp

Well, I can't really complain about RAGS too much, it made development easy, and at that point of my life, it was the perfect tool (Nowadays I have to work on the UI, and it's so damn annoying, I'll never get tired of bitching about it XD). It will be nice to have similar gameplay, but with a smoother presentation and feeling (that's the aim at least). CD Projekt will have to pay me royalties, then! :p Although I just wish CP 2077 hadn't been a disappointment for me. I was hoping for a nice RPG, but the game doesn't feel much like one.
