...Do you guys have a itch.io account? As you might know, I have my game posted there as well, and someone told me they can't find the game even if they search for Caliross, could any of you verify if that's a widespread problem, or if it's just an issue with their account's settings or whatever?

P.S.

Do you guys think I should encourage people to leave ratings/reviews where that's possible to increase the game's visibility? I am always on the lookout for more ways to make the patreon grow, but I generally don't want to bother others (heck, it's hard for me to find the time to follow up on good suggestions I get, so it doesn't seem right to ask you guys stuff like that).

I had this problem, enabling "show adult content in search and browse" made the game appear. The phrase "don't forget to leave a like and subscribe" is very common these days, so I guess it works and is worth doing.

Spikesagitta

Can confirm, didn't show up during my initial search, but due to dfsf comment, enable adult content, and t appear in my next search.

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah, that line is everywhere on youtube. Maybe that's why I find it annoying, but if it works, it works, I should consider dropping something similar every now and then on websites which allow reviews and stuff.

Thanks for checking this out for me! :)

To add to the previous comments, you don't even come up in a creator name search without adult content being enabled. Presumably this should be something of an edge case, because it would be a problem that only occurs when someone who doesn't normally look for adult content on Itch specifically looks for your content on Itch.

Or someone new who hasn't checked their settings yet, but yeah, it's probably not a big problem.

Well, i saw your game in recommendations yesterday, and i do not have account there.

Micro

I'ma have to stop supporting next month as I have no spare money left to give :(

mdqp

Don't worry, this is just a game after all. People should only donate amounts that are trivial to them, in my opinion, so this is the first thing to cut when money gets tight. Make sure to come back as a millionaire though, so you can enjoy the good life, and I get to beg for a higher amount! :^

I wonder how recommendations work. You'd think they'd never show "risky" content to people without an account.

SomethingSam

Advertise all you want, its win/win. You get more support, and we get a creator who is enjoying more support.

Lost Forest

I can't find it. Logged in or logged out.

Arhiippa

I wouldn't consider an occasional ask for reviews or such to be obnoxious. I personally probably won't remember to do it, but I don't see anything wrong in mentioning that kind of stuff occasionally. More backers means more resources for the game and everyone wins.

At first I could not find Caliross on Itch.io, but after searching for it using google I realized it was due to my profile's search settings. "Show content marked as adult in search & browse," needs to be checked. It is probably easy for someone to not realize this since it is still possible to view many other adult games without changing this setting.

From Accounting

Can confirm that I was able to search and find the game myself. Left a review for you. As others said, seems more like a settings issue

Cyrus622

Might I also suggest adding the "Female Protagonist" tag on there as well. Other possibly useful tags include "Story Rich" and "Erotic."

Time to raise the marketing budget to 10$, we should see immediate results! ;) Hopefully being more open about it will help, and not annoy people.

mdqp

Did you see the comment above mentioning the NSFW content option in the setting? Any idea if you have it set properly?

mdqp

I am a bit reluctant to do it, because it feels like poking people over and over, but yeah, it's probably not a big deal, in reality. Having more money around would definitely help.

mdqp

Yeah, seems like an easy thing to overlook. There is a limit of 10 tags if I remember correctly, but female protagonist should probably make it on the list.

mdqp

Thanks for the review! Yeah, at this point it seems most likely an issue with the settings.
