A resketch of Alan's commission request. The first can be viewed hereBeen exchanging messages with Alan about Cat and her family history, it's been fun challenge. Over the years there's been several drafts of Cat's extended family. Questions and commission requests about her family history have helped turned vague ideas about these people into solid character building.However, shortly after posting the last sketch I realized I'd made a  serious mistake. At the time, I was remembering an earlier version of Kitty's family. A version where Cat had two aunts on her Mom's side, not two uncles and an aunt which had been established when creating Cat's cousins in the previous commission. So, the sketch was redone

In earlier family history ideas, I imagined Kitty and her sisters being raised in a strict household. This led to Kitty being strict with Cat later on, explaining why Cat was shy and sheltered. But this background didn't work when Kitty finally appeared in the comic. She had become a mother who was anxiously overprotective, rather than a strict disciplinarian. 

And so, Kitty's background changed. Now she's the oldest of four, growing up she would often watch over and stop her siblings from hurting themselves. Especially her brothers. They went through a Hollywood stuntman phase. Today Kitty has different reasons to be anxious about Cat's safety, but the impulse to intervene and protect is still strong.Hope this was an interesting peak behind the thoughts that go into character development ~ I'll be posting details tomorrow about streaming plans!
