Tych Maps

Which files specifically are you having issues with? What Roll20 plan do you have?

Tych Maps

That is super weird. Just to confirm is it just that map your having issues with or is it a number of my maps? I was playing around with it this morning and I'm getting the same issue and I have absolutely no idea why. All of the math checks out for grid sizing/image sizing/page sizing. I was finally able to use the higher resolution image by doing the following: - set page dimensions at 79x88 @ 70 px - drop the map into the map layer and close the popup window asking to resize - don't let it fit to page or resize page. - right click advance transform it and set dimensions manually - 5530x6160 But I can't figure out why it didn't work by normal methods.

Loving the maps but can you let me know how I can print them out? I've downloaded level 1 maps and can see there are several file names. Not sure which ones are printable and at what size I should be printing these to get them at the same ratio as typical D&D maps e.g. are they designed to be printed at A1, A2 or A3 size? Anything else I should know before trying to print them? Thanks!

Tych Maps

Printing and Dungeon of the Mad Mage is a challenge. The dungeon is just massive. I don't target any specific print sizes as my main focus is for VTT's. I always recommend people to check out Arkana Tools paper map generator for printing if they are looking to do this though. I have no affiliation, just think it's a great tool.

FOUNDRY VTT user here. Having issues loading up the Full Combined IMG to Foundry. Tried both manners such as Create Scene or Place Tile. Both methods bring the map in, but he map is Cover straight Black. Also the Universal VTT maps are only cut up versions, and not the Full Floor Version for anyone else looking into purchasing for that reason.

Tych Maps

Unfortunately due to the size of the Undermountain, things really don't like to run well at 5ft map scale and high resolution map images. This is why things are split up for Foundry - it doesn't display the full resolution images - you could downscale them; but you are correct you'll need to piece together the universal vtt data.

Goratrix

These maps do NOT match up with the black and white maps in roll20.

Tych Maps

Exact dimensions and outside image boundaries may be slightly different in places. All files are tagged with dimensions and the layouts and sizes of the dungeon itself is a 1:1 copy (at a 5ft scale vs. 10 ft for the black and white)

I love your maps, they save me SO much work. They work very well in Fantasy Grounds. One question. What's the difference between "levelX-A-BG" and "levelX-A-TP" files? I've opened both and I can't see a difference.

Tych Maps

BG = background. Typically jpg files with a lower overall filesize TP = transparent (no background). Typically png with larger filesizes, but useful if you want to piece together all the sections into 1 map image

Grey Law

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the great maps! My campaign is going so much better with them.

Grey Law

For me, I changed the maps to be the same size as the og map by looking at the dimensions, then just rewrote the lighting walls myself. It's a little annoying but it doesnt take as long as youd think, and its well worth it to have the better map imo

Sera Raymond

I love these and will be using them soon! But I am curious whether you have ever considered doing the expanded parts of the dungeon?

Tych Maps

I briefly considered it when I was first making the maps and decided they were already massive enough that I didn't need to add to my plate at the time. It's something I might consider in the future to revisit but nothing immediately on the table

Arkmaster

i cannot get the lvl 2 map to load. its probably just user error but im stumped

Tych Maps

Hmm. What VTT are you using? Are you trying to use the complete level map (all parts stitched together) or specific sections? Hopefully we can get it resolved for you.

James Hutchison

Unfortunately, you cannot download any of these maps into VTT on DNDbeyond as the files are way too large.

Tych Maps

at this time the map pack is universal vtt files only, not a complete foundry module. I'm rebuilding the module at the moment and when it's done I plan to offer it as part of the pack. until then, it's available with a membership

Tych Maps

if you use the "roll20 free" map files, they should all be under the 10MB limit that MapsVTT has.

I am planning on using Digital Tabletops VTT from Steam for my in-person DoMM game on an imbedded flatscreen. Do you have any experience with this platform? Are there advantages to using Foundry instead for your content?

Tych Maps

I'll be honest, this is the first time I've heard of digital tabletops. For in person play, it looks awesome. Foundry is first and foremost a platform for online play - which you then have to mod for in-person shared display to function well. I'd try it out. You can hopefully use the uvtt files (they'll be labelled FVTT files) to get line of sight/wall/light info into the maps. I'm not 100% certain, maybe like 80%, but I believe .dd2vtt and .uvtt are the same format; so if it doesn't "support" dd2vtt you can hopefully just rename the extension to uvtt and get it to import. ps. sounds like an awesome setup. that's my dream if I get an in-person group going again anytime soon. curious to hear how Digital Tabletops works for you.

David McDonell

I had my first game with the digital tabletop and it worked well! I was able to import the dd2vtt files just fine. One pain point with the setup was the lights in the maps. With this software, anything that is illuminated by lights is visible to the players even if they haven’t explored the area yet. Would it be possible to get the dd2vtt files with the lights deleted?

Tych Maps

Awesome! Glad the maps got in okay. Too bad about the lights; I believe in Foundry there is a global setting for that but I could be misremembering. Might be worth reaching out to the developer, they seem pretty active.

Arkmaster

I'm using Foundry. I never got the link for it..so far I've been using DND Beyond

Kiz

How do i get the full combined images of these maps? They are all broken up? i need the full map please

Tych Maps

they are in the included map pack at the link above. "CombinedImages" folder

Steven Lewis

Any plans for uVTTs for the combined?

Tych Maps

nothing at the moment. based on general feedback, the full-level images, with full lighting and walls cause performance issues for a lot of people. probably fine if you and your group all have fast connections and high end pcs; or playing in person with 1 suitable machine running it; but all it takes is 1 player who doesn't have that to cause issues for the group. i'll also toss out, that broken scenes have the benefit of removing a bit of metagaming - ie. "we are in the top left corner, so exit is probably bottom right somewhere, we should head that way." - if they don't know which map they are on and what connects which directions, it really adds to the maze of the undermountain.
