Hi everyone,

I wanted to give you an early heads-up about an upcoming billing change on Patreon, happening May 6th.

Patreon is phasing out the “per creation” billing model that this page has used since the beginning. Because of that, I’ll be switching the page over to monthly subscription billing effective May 6th.

Under the new system, memberships are billed once per month at a consistent price rather than depending on how many paid posts are published in a given month.

While this change is ultimately being driven by Patreon’s platform changes, it does come with a couple of practical benefits. Monthly billing is simpler and more predictable for everyone, and it gives me more flexibility to include benefits that aren’t strictly tied to the number of paid posts in a month.

Your membership will automatically convert from a “per creation” amount to a monthly membership on the same tier you’re currently on, with the same benefits. The only difference is that billing will happen once per month instead of per post.

Below are the new monthly tier prices and benefits:

Important:If you previously set a monthly maximum on the number of posts you pay for, that limit will be preserved during the conversion.

In many cases this means your converted monthly membership may actually be lower than the new standard price of the tier, and that price will continue as long as you keep your current membership and payment method active.

If you would like to adjust your membership before or after the change, Patreon provides guides here - note that membership changes made after the switch will not preserve any limits.

Guides:

• Changing your tier• Increasing your payment amount

I’m sharing this early so everyone has plenty of time to understand the change and adjust if needed before May 6th. The new tier "Blacksmith" will be added in the next couple weeks; in advance of the change to allow you to change to it, if desired, before May.

As always, thank you for supporting the project and helping make these maps possible.
