Billing Changes in 3 Days - New Info + Final Update (Patreon)
Content
[NEW INFO BELOW]
I hope you're getting tired of seeing these; that means I've communicated adequately :)This is a final reminder that Patreon billing for Tych Maps will switch to monthly subscriptions on May 6th.
I wanted to quickly clarify how billing will work and give you a final chance to make any adjustments before the change.
1) How the billing cycle will actually work
May 1st: You’ll be billed as normal, for my April posts (up to your post limit)
May 6th: change to subscription billing, but nothing 'actually' happens
June 1st: you'll get your first bill under the new model
Going forward, you’ll be billed once per month on the 1st at your membership amount; new members will be billed monthly on the day they sign up
2) Final chance to adjust your membership
Before the switch, you still have the option to lock in lower pricing based on your current setup. You can:
Set or adjust your post limit
Adjust your tier (upgrade/downgrade, based on what you need)
When the switch happens, your post limit carries over into your monthly price.
For example:
$3 tier with a limit of 1 post → continues at $3/month vs. $15/month
$5 tier with a limit of 1 post → continues at $5/month vs. $25/month
Once the switch happens, any changes made later will happen at the new prices; so, lock in now!
3) What’s new
Subscription billing also opens up a few new options:
Gift memberships - gift subscriptions to others
Annual memberships
Note: Annual memberships will reflect the new monthly pricing, so it may not actually be cheaper if you lock in pricing as per above.
About the change
Patreon is phasing out the “per creation” billing model that this page has used since the beginning. Because of that, the page will be moving to monthly subscription billing.
Under the new system, memberships are billed once per month at a consistent price rather than depending on how many paid posts are published.
Your membership will automatically convert to a monthly membership on your current tier, with the same benefits.
If you previously set a monthly post limit, that will be preserved during the conversion — and in many cases, this means your monthly amount may be lower than the new standard tier pricing.
If you’re planning to make any adjustments, now’s the time to do it before May 6th.
As always, thanks for supporting the project — it’s what makes all of this possible.
