One of those episodes that really pulls the rug out from under you again 😭 Titan lore goes crazy It’s also funny we’re getting double AoT and BTVS this week bc I’m just noticing how similar becoming a titan and becoming a vampire is 😂 Vampire drinks your blood then you drink theirs - A human gets injected with Titan spinal fluid to become a Dumb Titan™️ and has to eat a Human with Titan abilities in order to become human again! Okay not super similar but “it’s a whole big ‘sucking’ thing”

Loving loving your reactions to these! On first watch it's definitely information overload and a lot to keep track of but you're doing an amazing job. Historia is telling Eren all that in the end to absolve him of his guilt of feeling like his existence is the worst thing for humanity and she'll take his place as humanity's biggest enemy. Honestly one of my favorite Historia moments, she's so great in this season.

Wow the symbolism in this one is awesome. Eren said "I shouldnt have happened" and it showed the scene where Historia's mother walked away, saying it would have been better if Historia was never born. Eren said this in regard to his duty of ridding the world of the titans, as evidence that this duty was not true and that his fate should therefore be decided by Historia. He said it's all up to her when he previously believed it was all up to him. She is special, not him. Then, Historia immediately brings up that she felt 'so happy' when Eren called her a normal person. She was reminded that she is happier without being special and without that special duty. Then she has the flashback to Ymir enncouraging her to be her own person free from a duty imposed by the outside world. Then it gets even better. She had already stopped living as Christa - the girl she was told to be by her sister and father. But she is living as Historia because Ymir told her to. She hasn't truly decided anything on her own yet - just a vow to Ymir that she would. So when Eren, the most duty-driven person of all, loses his purpose in an instant, she sees that there is essentially no such thing as a bestowed purpose and it's at that moment that she truly understands Ymir and actually chooses to decide her own fate. Eren lost his purpose due to the 'sins of his father'. His purpose was taken by his family. He gave Historia the power to decide fate after that. But her purpose was given from the 'duty' of her father. She let that imposed purpose by breaking the chains holding her captive (the hundreds of years of memories 'chained' together in the Reiss family, symbolised by the syringe). Immediately after breaking herself free from a fate decided by someone else, she (literally) broke the chains holding Eren captive, giving Eren the same right to self-destiny when he was broken free. Basically, Eren's family's actions made him falsely purposeless, and Historia's family's actions made her falsely purposeful. They showed each other that their fates can be decided for themselves.
