You should consider watching similar movies like The Blind Side, Gridiron Gang, Radio, Glory Road, and Coach Carter.

Hannah Saadallah

The first time I watched this was way back in middle school, it was my best friend's favorite movie. It's because of a specific scene in this film that our friendship song is still Ain't No Mountain High Enough! We are still besties 18 years later. Also, the little girl is Hayden Panettiere! Her most infamous role being in the Bring It On sequel All or Nothing lol but she has been in a lot of good movies too, a Disney/Disney Channel movie veteran! (Speaking of Bring It On...that would be a great movie to react to! the first one haha) My high school did not even have a football team, we were an incredibly small private school. But growing up in Texas I 100% know the culture around football. That's why this movie was my besites' fav, even though we ddin't have a team of our own to root for, she always loved the game.

Something to note for everyone watching: these huge "anti-bussing" protests? they still happen. John Oliver and This American Life have done whole stories on how segregated schools, especially in the North, still are. And how vitriolically against integrating them a lot of parents (white parents) still are too. Except they don't say they are anti-integration, they say they are anti-poor/thug/drug-dealer/gang banger whatever new slur people have invented for poor kids of color now. The reason its such an issue especially in the north is because northern states were never forcefully integrated like the south was. Not that this is never an issue in the south, but one of the biggest perpetrators of segregated schools is New York. Kids aren't legally shoved onto race-based schooling, but due to economic, historical, and societal issues, the same outcome is achieved.

Chris Henderson

You should watch Gridiron Gang a great watch.

Niklas

Aww, come on, no Spider-Man today either? :(

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 I'm downloading this right now to watch tonight. This is such a great movie. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden ! 💛

Ian

Happy Friday nat was wondering what movie I'm unable to watch today was going to be this was my guess actually 👍 guess it's going to be a double bill for me tomorrow as I've yet to watch the Deadpool 2 reaction I best get some popcorn and maybe a cream cake of some sort 😋 thankyou for the content this week nat even though I've only seen ATLA 🙄 have a lovely weekend and as always stay golden 💛

Joe Blankenship

I was just about to pull my Spider-Man 3 blu-ray off the shelf....

Ben Wheeler

Exteriors of the Gettysburg College were shot at Berry College in NW Georgia about an hour and a half from where I grew up

Jomero

Some spoilers for those who haven't yet seen this movie and haven't watched along with Nat yet. Some liberties were taken with actual history, yes. But one thing that definitely was true was the friendship that formed between Herman Boone and Bill Yoast. They remained best friends right up until Coach Yoast passed away a few years back. And, a really special treat, both coaches sat down together and recorded commentary for the initial DVD release of this movie.

Darryl Low

Happy Friday Nat. I haven't seen this movie, so was looking forward to watching it. Really enjoyed it, and your reaction. Denzel always gives a powerhouse performance, but the whole cast were awesome. When Gerry and Sunshine kissed, I thought you going over the back of your chair! 😂 So many great songs on the soundtrack, and the score by Trevor Rabin got you in the heart. He's written a lot of these uplifting scores for Jerry Bruckheimer productions. Before he started film scoring, he was one of the original members of the 70s band Yes. Come on Nat, get those tissues sorted out 😄 You need your reaction checklist. Iced Coffee - Check, Water - Check, Tissues - Check 😊 Thanks for an incredible video today, and as always, thanks for all your amazing work this week. Have a great weekend Nat 💛

Tay Schumaker

He gave him a banana because the other coach called him a monkey. He said it in the scene right before the game

Simon Bauer

hidden figures next plsss

JarHead0351

Well, I guess I watch "Free State of Jones" tonight as my BHM pick which is a much better story also a true story - I have seen your pick already, we can't always be on the same page for every movie. enjoy and catch you tomorrow

Casen Jamvo

One of my favorite childhood movies, I watch it every summer, and used to watch it before most of my football or lacrosse games, gets me pumped! Left side!

Calo Grsf

Hi Nat and thanks for the new reaction! 😄 You were great, emotion, tears (definitely, you don't retain your lessons 😆) and laughter, the perfect cocktail hahaha, and not to forget the musical moments haha, I hope there will be a concert soon 😀 I love Denzel, a nice actor, and since you liked this movie, I sincerely hope you will watch "Hidden Figures", such an awesome film with great actresses On that note, I wish you an excellent weekend, I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Nya

I was really hoping for my favorite hidden figures, but this movie is really good. So im not surprised it was so close

Darryl Low

And Nat typing "Remember the Titans" without looking at the keyboard is worthy of it's own reaction video 😮😄

Ilsuk Yang

Yeah, that state championship game wasn't close at all. They won that game by a landslide! I don't remember the score off the top of my head, but I think they held the losing team to either 0 points or single-digit points. I don't mind so much that this movie takes "creative license" with the events of the story because this a movie, not a documentary. Another great reaction from you, Nat!

BJ Stephens

Sorry, but the guys father is wrong for his attitude towards blacks, but he isn't wrong for standing up for his son, he's trying to be a good father despite his ignorance, that doesn't make him a loser Nat.

Essero Eson

Yep, you need either a tissue sponsor or you need to get your own Stay Golden brand of tissue so we can all cry together.

They hated each other. What are you talking about. They were friends in the public eye because it made them both money.

Vega

Yeah gotta wait a week for a good movie while this swill goes first.

Ben Wheeler

I would recommend Radio, starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Ed Harris, as another football movie based on a true story.

Aequitas_Veritas

Yea, good movie, entertaining, thought provoking, and good sports movie, but they took a lot of liberty with history, im from area, we played tc williams in high school, decades later but still, they over played the race part of it, was that still an issue even as close to DC as the area is sure but this isnt the deep south during segregation, the schools that merged to make TC williams were already integrated the players disliked each other cause they previously played against each other, also they didnt play all white schools, they were also integrated at the time, and they crushed that season, won most games by landslides, but that didnt make as good of a movie.

LightsCameraJake

Radio, is such a good movie, recommend that as well.

Ginge Tomassi

Coach Carter and The Way Back would be good films to check out when you feel like doing a sports drama again. Great to hear you are planning on watching a bunch of different genres in future.

I agree that he is a loser. It's a game. A high school game. If your life is that wrapped up in your child's high school career that you get racist angry, you're a loser.

Dooly

Pootie Tang

JarHead0351

Quigley Down Under is a great movie to watch and think most people would agree and any new person you would enjoy it too

Jadan Vines

If you can you should still totally watch Hidden Figures. Phenomenal movie and super historically important!

S

Love this movie. Glory Road is the basketball version of this and Rudy is another great, inspirational football movie that will have some cast members that you’ll recognize as well.

larshans

Watch Speed from 1995

Eik104

Have you seen Braveheart yet, Natalie?

Danishprince

This is such a brilliant movie!

Joe Blankenship

Get some handkerchiefs. No more tissue issues.

Michael GP

Been forever since I watched this movie. Completely forgot Ryan Gosling was in it. I remember when this came out there was an issue with financing the movie like half way through production and Denzel was so passionate about getting it made that he took a big pay cut to make it happen.

Andrew

Blindside is a fantastic football movie with Bandra Bullock. Bring Tissues!!!!!

Foxyguava

I felt like it was always this movie and Armageddon being played on my overnight school field trips a looong time ago, but I never got tired of it. It's absolutely super corny at times and does a bunch of cliche things, but it does them so well. It was great to revisit this one.

Danishprince

If you wanna watch something with a similar vibe I can recommend Gridiron Gang - Also football and also 'based on true story' though the quality isn't as high it's still solid entertainment

Jeff K

Seeing Wood Harris in this just reminds me: you should REALLY watch The Wire. Greatest show ever, and Wood Harris is fantastic in it.

Totally was thinking about Armageddon the whole time. These where my childhood movies.

BrooksHOF TV

I loved this reaction really good job... Denzel is the GOAT you should react to "Deja Vu" with him and Paula Patton you would love it.
