Help me pick one last film for spooky season! I know this list is a weird assortment haha.

Comments

Darryl Low

This is definitely a "Pick your favourite" poll ha ha Fourth time lucky for Halloween 🤞 They are all cool movies. Have a great Wednesday Nat 💛

Abraham

Carrieeee

Kenzi

please please do It: chapter 2. it completes the story

Boomcity

A lot of good choices. Maybe we can see Ready or Not next year. Also House of the Dragon tomorrow! 😁

Trinity Davis

Coraline mainly because I think you deserve to be traumatized with the rest of us. As a kid this was natmare fuel so you'll have a good time! 👍

Josh

Coraline is scarier than any of these movies!

Kerra Rose

ahhh Ready or Not is soooo good!

Randee Carreno

Happy Wednesday, Natalie! 😊 All great movies. However, "IT: Chapter 2" got my immediate vote. Have a great day today. 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Gabrielle Renae

Aww, I hope it's Coraline. I love this movie and the animation is great.

tezster

Such a good, yet often overlooked movie.

Patrick Egan

I do hope you watch "IT: Chapter Two" someday, but I just had to vote for Halloween(assuming we're talking about the original 1978 movie), it's too much of a classic :)

Rhys

Would love to see you watch It Chapter 2 to see you finish the story :)

Ben Wheeler

1978 in the last poll so I assume the same here

j4zmon

Ready or Not, Carrie, and Coraline could all be watched outside of spooky season as well if you're up for it.

Troy

All great choices, but I had to go with IT: Chapter 2.

RebRox65

How about Damien’s story the Devils child THE OMEN it’s not a gore feasts but it should give cold chills.

Vincent Valentin

I would have voted for it but being the last movie ready or is so much better

Kyle

Ready or not was a lot of fun

Lisa Tosti

Aw man I really wanted Carrie. I don't think it's gonna happen

Boomcity

Fingers 🤞

Joe Blankenship

Can't believe Halloween isn't winning. Seems like that should've been covered in the first Natmare run.

Walter Lopez

You should add Fright Night (1985) to the list if you haven't seen it. I watched it 2 years ago on Holloween and now I'm going to watch it again on the 31st too Lol

addnid07

Coraline is really good

ChulsZFF

I'm ok with the remake It films but I don't understand the obsession. It wasn't that good imo. Either of them. The acting was, sure. I feel like I'm watching 2 films of haunted house jump scares. Too obvious and in your face. ALso, what's with the shaking wiggle, since when was that scary? We do that to kids to make them laugh because it's silly. Too much CGI, as well. The originals were cheesy but they had character and still scare me today. All that to say I voted for Ready or Not. Loved that film. Unique and interesting!

Noctis

There should be a zombie movie, I'm just sayin 👀 lol.

Adam Doyle

Coraline is a beautiful, and creepy (but not scary) movie. If it doesn't make the Natmare winner, it should still go on your eventual movie watch list. BTW I doubt most people have a 3D tv (was a fad that never quite caught on), but watching this in 3D is INCREDIBLE! Like a living doll house world.

Dan

Please add Arachnaphobia to a future poll, it's a fantastic movie that deserves a reaction! There's a shower scene that really gives a new meaning to "jump scare" :)

Adam Doyle

if you ever have the opportunity, watch this in 3D, so beautifully textured!

David Trumble

Having worked on Henry Selick's upcoming stop-motion with Jordan Peele, "Wendell & Wild", I'm naturally extremely biased for "Coraline"!

Eve

Train to Busan!

Gabrielle Renae

It's in 3D?!?!? I had no idea...dude, now I'm gonna have to get it!!

Nemo-the-Red

Went with It so you can finish the story, but all of those are great choices

Danishprince

Can't believe the classic Halloween is losing again :(

Dan

No disrespect to you or your opinions (whatever they are), but I really hate zombie movies lol. They (1) always break their own zombie rules and (2) always have a cast of characters so dumb that I end up rooting for the zombies. You can't show me that a zombie's jaw is falling off their face and then also have that same zombie chew through a car door later in the same scene -- that jaw can come off or stay on, not both. By the looks of things, most zombies should have the bite strength equivalent to throwing a tiny Baskin Robins plastic sampling spoon at your face from across the room. And casually-shambling corpses shouldn't catch up to cars traveling 60 mph, like they did at the end of the opening credits of the Walking Dead Season 2 premier (they were driving for days on open, grassy plains, but were "ambushed" from behind within seconds of stopping for supplies) And there's always the guy who gets bit and then hides it until it's too late. Or people who don't act like humans with normal self preservation instincts... like someone will be leaning against a door frame with their arm out, and then just scream in horror as a zombie slowly walks up, caresses their arm, examines it for a second, and then starts eating away at the limb. The victim isn't even jumpy. They don't startle; they just stand there as an observer, and don't make any motion to get away. Maybe directors never trust the prosthetics to stay on the actors, but the actors always look fully complicit and eager to die, aside from facial expressions and noises that contradict the rest of their bodies. Shaun of the Dead is at least funny, but they also played along with, rather than ridiculing, the major tropes that keep the genre going.

Michael Patrick

Ready or Not is so reaction worthy.. oh well

KoolKamal

Coraline won't win unfortunately but it's such a beautiful film. I'd be happy if there was more Stop-Motion Animation on Nat's Patreon.

Mike Hell

Oh come on, Halloween '78 on Halloween weekend? Way better than It chapter 3

Joshua s. Jackson

After Hereditary Nat needs a more light hearted movie. Come on guys, let's make Caroline win this.

Brian Jones

Would love to see Ready or Not win this, but doesn't look like it's in the cards. Shame, as it's probably the best pick on the list.

PickettsChargingPort

For future horror polls I would suggest a possibly controversial entry: the 2022 Hellraiser that was just released. I suggest that one for a few reasons. First, it's (imho) an easier path into the hellraiser world. It doesn't lean on the gore as much, favoring atmosphere over a ton of fleshy bits. Second, the story is more coherent than the original which felt disjointed even though it was very close to the hellbound heart novella.

Noctis

Not gonna lie, didn't read that whole thing lol, but from what I gather of the first few sentences, you hate zombie movies cuz they're cliché? I just think you haven't really watched good zombie movies. May I recommend 28 Days Later, Train to Busan, Rec, and other films like Ravenous? Shoot even Night of the Living Dead had an amazing plot. If zombies ain't your thing, it ain't your thing, but some of us do in fact like it.

Ed Green

We all vote down here...

Mastervodo

I thought we all liked Natalie here. She has a terrible phobia of bugs in general. Why would you want to traumatize her like that?

Richard Maurer

Halloween 78 is the best choice on this poll so it can't possibly win.

Richard Maurer

Coraline is traumatizing..........for children. Adults, not so much.

Richard Maurer

Hope so because I voted for it, but I'd still take Rob Zombie's Halloween over any of the other movies in this poll, except maybe Carrie (not the remake either, I assume?).

Richard Maurer

I think younger people are jaded by the fact that lot of newer movies took the tropes created by Halloween and ran with them. Older films get disrespected by people with no sense of history.

Myles Away

Based on the last polls I was hoping this audience would be smarter and not vote for the trash pile that is IT: Chapter 2. Every other option is leagues beyond that movie.

Thomas Yanez

His sentiments about actual zombie (supernatural, usually "slow") movies are pretty solid. Faux zombie (living humans infected with something, usually "fast") movies like "28 Days Later" or "Train to Busan" aren't as affected by some of his criticisms.

Richard Maurer

I do love Zombie films/series but some of the newer ones lack in the logic department at times. I remember the Walking Dead episode where, SPOILER ALERT, the tiger got taken down by like 8 zombies, lol. The writers apparently gave no thought to just how strong a tiger actually is, that tiger would have torn through those zombies like a wood chipper goes through twigs. To make it real for you just imagine you and 7 of your friends trying to dogpile a full grown Tiger - not a pretty thought, is it?

Trinity Davis

Haha true that's why I said as a kid it was "natmare" fuel, I'm sure w the way natalie handles scary movies she'll find it pretty creepy

Richard Maurer

While I personally don't care for that movie (I like spiders obviously) given her feelings about "bugs" in general it would probably creep the bejeezus out of her. In fact, it might be too much for her.

Richard Maurer

It gets no respect, no respect at all.

Noctis

To be fair, they copied the comic book, and the comics has the ability to just draw a horde killing said tiger, the show has a budget and can only do so much lol. This is why we got the infamous Farm saga in the second season, they had to do so much with so little.

Richard Maurer

Natalie just got through Hereditary (barely, but she got through it), Coraline will not scare her after that, not in the least.

Trinity Davis

I said creep her out not scare which it definitely will lol

William 1611

Might I suggest "Let the Right One In" (2008), the Swedish vampire film that caused a pretty big sensation? There's an American remake, but it's kinda lame. Or "Maggie" (2015), a genuinely touching zombie film in which Arnold Schwarzenegger does an unbelievable job of serious, heart-wrenching acting. I think you'd appreciate both films, even if you don't react to them!

Jack Burton

You're in the minority. I'd learn to deal with it. Since you're so much smarter than everyone else I bet you can figure out how to do that.

Richard Maurer

The comic was probably off too, but I didn't read it so I can't judge. I'm not sure enough zombies could actually be on the tiger at any one time to hold it down, it would probably just run its way through them. We're talking an animal that can bring down a 1 ton water buffalo, and drag it a mile or more with its teeth. Plus human bites or scratches wouldn't be able to penetrate the hide of a tiger, as tigers routinely fight other tigers without getting torn to pieces. But hey, that's not the craziest zombies bringing down an animal scene I ever saw. I read a comic that had a small horde of zombies bringing down an elephant. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing

Richard Maurer

Halloween is more light hearted.........well, compared to Hereditary it is, sorta. Fuck it i just want Halloween to win.

Richard Maurer

It's certainly not Halloween league, that's for sure.

jamie jones

It chapter two is nowhere near as good as chapter one, but that was expected as thats how it is in the book as well in terms of the kids story vs grown upsstory. But may as well finish it off so thats my vote.

jamie jones

Light hearted? Its for natmares

Eric Janssen

It also didn't help that the director threw the second half of the book out the window, so that he could make his own impassioned off-topic plea against LGBT-bullying. Or that Warner was getting franchise hungry, and wanted to set up backstories for Pennywise in the hopes of sequels/HBOMax spinoffs, which was...also somewhat off the topic of King's book.

jamie jones

Not really a remake film since the original was a tv mini-series. But jump scares? I dont think i had one jump scare throughout chapter 1 or 2. I found them to be more creepy than jumpy imo.

Myles Away

Actually Jack, the majority has voted for the other options. The votes are just diluted amongst the other choices. IT: Chapter 2 will not win with a resounding majority vote because it is a weak follow up to an already mediocre jumpscare movie.

Eric Janssen

Nobody's been brave enough to tackle the werewolves-meet-Eraserhead rabbit hole of Neil Jordan's "The Company of Wolves".

jamie jones

The last 2 entries into the franchise have probably soured most people.

Eric Janssen

This. On any other reactor, this would be a no-brainer, but Nat's stuck with the cineplex/streaming kids--"No, you have to do the whole Conjuring saga!"

Ken

It was okay. Definitely the best since 2 imo. But I didn't love how the box got turned into a weapon used to stab and mark unsuspecting victims rather than used by those looking to call upon the Cenobites. ... "It is not hands that summon us, it is desire"

jamie jones

The adult section of the book wasn’t very good anyways. Not gonna give spoiler details until after the reaction, but it was followed close enough. It would have been better to completely scrap the adult section of the book and invent an entirely original adult story- then it maybe couldve been as good as part 1. I also would not categorize the movie as a plea against lgbt bullying. Or that that would be offtopic from the book as The adult section of the book literally begins with 3 teens brutally bullying/trying to murder a gay teen

Thomas Yanez

@Mastervodo If the point of "Natmare" season is to watch scary things, then it seems like we're doing our job by recommending things that will, you know, scare her.

Thomas Yanez

@Eric Janssen, I haven't seen it, but that description suddenly makes it very intriguing.

Troy

Halloween seems like a must-watch, at least from this list.

Danishprince

Is Halloween gonna take the top spot for 'most polled movie that didn't win' soon xD

Richard Maurer

Coraline and hereditary don't exist in the same universe as far as both creepy and scary go, but I get it, you love coraline and want it to win, I just think it would better on a non-Halloween poll.

Thomas Yanez

No, really. Did you mean a movie title with more words after "They Live" or did you mean to type something like "It's Alive" or something else? Don't get me wrong, it's high in my list of Carpenter films, but I'm having difficulty combining "Rowdy" Roddy Piper with the concept of "Natmare Season".

Thomas Yanez

Nat has eleven other months to calm down from Natmare Season.

Thomas Yanez

New or old, they are both delightfully creepy. Personally, I'm a stickler for staying close to the original material, so the original has my preference, but I did like the remake, too.

Thomas Yanez

Huh. I'll never understand why Carpenter, the man who brought us "The Thing", "Halloween", "Prince of Darkness", etc felt the need to label "They Live" as horror. I mean, from his own lips, the movie is aimed directly at capitalism and political theory like "Reaganomics". Maybe that stuff starts getting really scary when you reach higher tiers of wealth.

Richard Maurer

No one should ever judge a film based on sequels or remakes. That being said it does, sadly, happen.

Tim Revis

They Live is a great movie. Just remember to bring bubble gum lol

Richard Maurer

The Company of Wolves is a different head-space alright. I've never quite decided if I love that film or hate it, so I guess I'll just say I respect it

Thomas Yanez

@Tim Revis, no argument! But is it a Natmare Season movie?

Richard Maurer

King has a reputation, sometimes deserved, of not finishing his books as well as they started, and It was one of the books that got him that reputation.

Richard Maurer

Thank you! I wish more people got that..

Thomas Yanez

Forget just the Conjuring series, let's marathon everything in Wan's Conjuring universe! Get some dolls in there, get some nuns in there, get that hispanic thing in there. Did he ever make the Slender Man knock-off? Get it in there, too!

Fen Zhao

I have to add love for Carrie. It's brilliant and one of my favorite films. It's not so much traditional horror like the others as just a suspenseful amazing ride.

Andrew Zachman

Just throwing it out there, but how about Evil Dead 2, Dog Soldiers or American Werewolf in London.

Jeff E

There's a new "Let the Right One In" series on Showtime right now. It's really good and expands the lore and world.

Trinity Davis

No seriously lol I would ignore them if I were u, maurer here tried to argue w me about coraline being not scary compared to hereditary. (As if I didn't know that)

Trinity Davis

Ignore Richard he's under every coraline comment trying to start crap lmao

Richard Maurer

Every thing Carpenter does gets labelled horror, even when it isn't

William 1611

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that! I'll check it out!

Thomas Richter

I don't think it's horror either, I just thought it would be better to watch along than anything else in the poll

Richard Maurer

Rude. Actually I was only on yours before this, Vote for Halloween !

PickettsChargingPort

The mythology was always a bit loose when it came to how the box worked, anyway, so I was ok with the change. Though I will say I liked that addition from the second movie. Seems to me they would go after the people looking for their 'gifts' rather than the person opening it.

PickettsChargingPort

Oh, man. What a great suggestion. Let the right one in is creepy.

Richard Maurer

Stop following me through the comments over a minor disagreement! I didn't even mentioned Coraline here .

Thomas Yanez

... in a poll specifically put up for the final Natmare Season slot? Why? Actually, never mind, after today's all day session with this poll and Ashleigh Burton's, I don't have enough energy to continue caring.

Thomas Yanez

Oh, really? I did not know about the series. Thank you!

Thomas Yanez

I'd love to see her reaction to "An American Werewolf in London". Not the scariest movie, but I love the dark humor and, obviously, the practical effects.

Jack Burton

Sounds like you're not doing very well with the whole 'get over it' thing.

Opti_Frog

I think Nat would get a kick out of American Werewolf, for sure. I wish for The Wicker Man and Ravenous.

Siti Dee

CO-RA-LIIIIIIIIINE

Dan

@Nene I haven't seen Train to Busan, but I'd be willing to give it a shot, especially as a foreign film

Dan

@Noctis My main problem isn't with clichés as much as it is with completely irrational and contradictory events & plot elements. If the zombie is slow, it shouldn't catch up to cars. If it's too weak to escape a mud puddle (another TWD episode), it shouldn't also be able to tear a cow in half with its bare hands. Cow hides are a lot tougher than 2" of a water-and-dirt mixture (it was literally the same zombie that both couldn't escape mud and also tore through a cow). The fact that the clichés keep getting repeated just goes to show that each idiot writer/director combo is as dumb as every previous idiot writer/director combo. They neither have the capacity for innovation, nor the ability to see how bad previous plot contradictions were. I did enjoy 28 Days Later, but as Thomas pointed out, those weren't really zombies in the classic sense. I do believe it's possible to make a decent zombie movie that doesn't break its own rules, I just haven't been able to find one yet. NLD doesn't really pique my interest, and I freely admit that's based purely on my personal bias against art house B/W movies of that age. I might give Ravenous a shot though.

eladrin22

agreed. Coraline is only correct choice here

Opti_Frog

That "hands"-line is a cool line, but it's completely inconsistent.

Logan Kerlee

Huh, rad. It's rare that the one in voting for is leading. SeemsGood

Ryan

Making up a poll about Coraline, she’s a peach she’s a doll she’s losing the poll, and we’re gonna watch a crappy sequel instead. She’s as cute as a button and has a much better movie than It: Chapter 2, but our eyes won’t be on Coraline.

Derrick

Coraline!!! ahhhh

Ken Schneyer

Coraline has the advantage of being based on a Neil Gaiman novel and including some terrific actors in the voice-cast.

Philip Davetas

I dig READY OR NOT. Wait. What? Nat, you haven't seen HALLOWEEN? After the movies you've seen it's actually not that scary. It's more suspense by today's standards. Not gory at all.

Philip Davetas

Also got a little They Might Be Giants in it.

Casey Walker

Ugh It Chapter 2 is such a let down from the first. Halloween should win

MovieGist

Coraline pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease! Come on!

Noctis

Your biases are whats not letting you enjoy these things, for instance, the TWD horde wasn't the zombies from the city catching up to their cars, its just a thing from the comic called the herd, a roaming group of zombies that just form and move together. Also you are literally talking about a genre that, once someone does something successfully, everyone takes it and runs it into the ground lol. Again, you hate zombies? cool, all good. I think you just need to enjoy em for what they are and if not, just don't watch. But zombies are a stable in horror, and I'd like to see some more of it here (well when next spooky season comes anyway lol).

Noctis

@Richard I mean its also silly to believe a person could keep a pet tiger, but it all depends how far you want to suspended your disbelief lol. I take em for what they are and just enjoy em (for slow zombie stuff).

Richard Maurer

People can and do keep pet tigers, Sometimes it ends badly, sometimes not.

Noctis

Right, try getting a pet tiger lol.

Richard Maurer

There are more tigers in private ownership in Texas than in the wild in India. So, many people own them, relatively few are killed or maimed by them. In fact Mike Tyson famously had two tigers for years that slept in his bedroom with him.

Noctis

You are mistaking keeping tigers as pets with captivity, you are either legally or illegally keeping a tiger captive, there is no in-between. Its a wild animal and will act as such, you are never in control. Thats what I'm talking about. End of the day, watch whatever you like lol I don't care. Just pointing out the same thing I have said, suspension of disbelief plays into it, yours falls flat at that point, good on you. I'll continue to enjoy the zombie movies though.

Soccerdmon

Halloween and Carrie are definitely better than It Chapter 2. It really was weak at best, sadly. Ready or Not was a fun film, not necessarily a horror, but definitely better than It.

Anomaly

IDK how much room you have in your schedule by now, but Werewolf by Night is one of the newer MCU "special presentations" that's only an hour long and requires no previous watching of anything. A seriously wonderful standalone short film dedicated to classic horror. It's so fun & worth a watch if you can fit an hour into your halloween schedule!!

MovieGist

Can't wait to see Wendell & Wild! And yes, Coraline is the best thing on this poll.

Logan Kerlee

Haven't watched it yet but I appreciate the feedback! I'll have to give it a go. :) Thanks!

Logan Kerlee

Which Wicker Man? I definitely prefer the original over the remake.

Marcus Powell

Wow, so you really aren’t going to watch “A Quiet Place 2” for Nat-mares? I’m in shock. 😂

JarHead0351

where is Rocky Horror Picture Show? that would be a blast

Gigi Willam

Please please please please watch ORPHAN BLACK. Only 5 seasons (i know that seems like a lot), 10 eps each, 40 something minutes per episode. The acting from Tatiana Maslany is brilliant. So good!

Kelli J Pope

I know it won, but I really wish Coraline did because that movie is so cool
