Casual Nerd Reactions

I really like Nope, but Scream will be more fun to watch with you!

Joshua Milus

Sonofa... Come on, folks, IT FOLLOWS. Brilliant.

Darryl Low

Happy Wednesday Nat. All of these are great spooky movies. Going to go with Scream 😱 Have a great day 💛

Chris Guerrero

Oh the gays and theys know damn well scream gonna win

Diiirk706

None of these are great, sigh

Meghan Catherin

The rings so low!?!?! Noooo lol screams my 2nd choice tho lol

djKENTO

I live where scream was filmed and I worked at the video store from the movie. Sonoma County represent!

Mike Hell

I'm actually cool with any of these, but NOPE was such a cool idea, it gets my vote

Chloe Root

Why is It Follows so lowwwww :''''(

curls

NOPE😭 plsss

RationallySassy

Scream is a whodunnit that makes fun of the genre, so I love it! It's the classic horror movie franchise I watch every year so I gotta go with that :P

RationallySassy

None? Interesting. What horror movies do you like, I'm genuinely curious.

Thomas Richter

Is Nope a movie or just a refusal to help you pick a movie?

Jenny Tolls

Damn I was really hoping for The Ring. That one is an early 2000’s classic and it’s gonna actually scare Nat. I hope it wins on the next round!

Jenny Tolls

That’s actually pretty cool! I can imagine that everyone there dresses up as Ghostface for Halloween lol

Reno

Nope gang

Jack Roiger

I absolutely love the scream franchise! It’s a must watch at least once a year

Baggie Mark

OMG Nat, there are some really scary and gory movies in this list... 😱😱

Michael G. Munz

Because it always follows after the others 😉

Chris H

I've recently watched all the Scream movies and they are all pretty entertaining! I love the physicality of Ghost Face when he gets into scrambles with people.

CHRISXGAMESALOT

If Scream is voted she has to watch Scary Movie.

Ian Cano

Hopefully it's Scream (1996) not the 2022 version.

Kelvin

Any of these choices would be fun

Kelvin

Fancy seeing you here, I see you’re not reccing TCM :P

K.N.

Can you watch all of these? These are all great and worth watching! (Voted for Scream)

BettleBug

Scream is my all time favorite horror series and I really hope we get to see the reaction:))

Daniel McGuinness

Halloween and scream week after week? Oh the gays are winning

Daniel McGuinness

But also all these movies hit, The Ring is number 2 🫶🏼

Eric Miller

Could we specify on which version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre we’re voting?

Ben Wheeler

Looks like we’re hitting all the classics this year😊

kenneth

omg definitely! 1 and 2 are the funniest imo

Mastervodo

I think Nat should drop Texas Chainsaw and just watch the remaining ones in no particular order! That being said ... Still hoping for Evil Dead: Rise. And - the Ring was the last horror movie that I remember being ACTUALLY scared. So, I hope Nat gets to that one as well!

Chuck Bosworth

Ready or Not needs to be on one of these polls.

Berry

The Ring is legit highly disturbing and scary (watch it in a dark room for maximum effect). It's beautifully filmed, has excellent sound design and Naomi Watts is amazing in it. I can't recommend it enough. Scream is also worth watching though, a great mix of fun/scary.

The Hedge Knight

Seeing Natalie scared brings me no joy. Scream is the most "light-hearted" option available. How about a little Army of Darkness or Transylvania 6-5000?

Mannygogou

hey The Ring is top 3 woo! It's a lovely moody movie and great to look at. It's a mystery with a pensive melancholic vibe...

Kevin Mowery

I'm picking Nope because I haven't seen it yet.

Danishprince

Halloween and then Scream - We eating good this month!

David Crabtree

Scream for sure! Easily my favorite horror movie!

Mike Hell

Is there going to be a spooky Series watched this year? I know people have thrown out options, like any of the Flanagan shows, but just curious if it's been decided.

Mike Hell

lol okay but just FYI it's not illegal to watch a spooky show in, like, April or something ;)

Baggie Mark

All you have to do is remember that we will all be there watching it with you, whatever wins...

Danishprince

Shame - The Hill House reaction was so good <3

Mike Hell

agree, one of her best! I was hopeful she'd get to at least Bly manor this year, but oh well

Mike Hell

I would imagine it's the original

Wu Sha Ling

I understand the reverence for Scream. Personally I can't stand Wes Craven's self-congratulatory style. Initially I thought it was Scream, but that wasn't it. It's all his work really. It just makes clear he's not my type of director. I like it follows, nope and the ring (hopefully the japanese one, but american remake is fine too)

Richard Maurer

Scream is definitely him at his worst though. I hate how people act like it's great because it's so self referential. Yeah, I get it, slasher cliches exist, could we get a movie that's actually scary please, instead of just an overlong sitcom episode?

Richard Maurer

I knew as soon as I saw the choices what was going to win - the worst film on the list. Even the second-rate US remake of Ringu is better than Scream.

Richard Maurer

Well, you're right about Scream and the US remake of Ringu, at least. Nope is pretty damn good. And the OG TCM and It Follows are great.

Richard Maurer

Wes Craven making fun of the genre he worked in all his career isn't being clever. It just meant he ran out of ideas.

RationallySassy

That's certainly one way to think about it :)

Richard Maurer

Don't worry Nat, Scream's going to win and it's not at all scary.

Joe Mallard

The best filmed movie is last, shame...

The Hedge Knight

I'm aware. She does it because the community asks it of her, not necessarily because she enjoys it. Her comments usually make pretty clear that she doesn't.

Richard Maurer

Well, considering the films he made a couple of years before, and everything after, Scream I'd say it's probably closest to the truth.

RationallySassy

Totally valid opinion. Just like I have my own, and I really enjoy the film. All good to have different tastes ^_^

Richard Maurer

Well, if it were really that bad she could just not do it. She made it through Hereditary last year. The only thing on this poll that even approaches that movie is It Follows. And Scream, which is not even slightly scary, is going to win. She'll be fine.

Walter Lopez

All I ask is that you add the original Fright Night in a Poll, Nat!

Eric Janssen

I gather we've seen a few too many Texas Chainsaw reactions for it to get votes (assuming it's the '74 classic)--But the point isn't whether WE'VE seen it... For the squeamish, it's also worth noting that there's almost no blood in it whatsoever. It could practically get a PG-13 rating today, if it weren't for...well, let's not go into spoilers.

Kevin Bartelen

I'm not a big horror movie fan, they mostly just don't do it for me, so it really excites me when one of the few I do like shows up on the vote. That would be Scream this time around if anyone was wondering.

Siti Dee

I need bly manor and midnight mass reaction so bad :(

bubba123

If you pick it, make sure it's the original Japanese version of "The Ring", not the American one.

Mike Hell

I would love them, too! I think she would deliver excellent reactions to both of them! But I guess she either doesn’t have time or has no interest in watching them 🤷‍♂️

Martin7777

Have you seen Nope? It's excellent. It's not an outright horror like the others. It's more of a sci-fi mystery thriller. I don't often watch movies twice in the same decade but I watched Nope twice in a row

Grace Severi

hopefully scream wins cause i feel its the best type of horror for u :)

Daniel McGuinness

Noticing a of cinephiles (derogatory) in here 👀 Let’s all remember that Wes Craven, a seasoned horror director, almost singlehandedly saved the dying slasher genre with Scream… the iconic opening scene, stellar cast, the twist! 🤌🏻 like a lot of it might seem cliche now but all the new girls have been copying Scream since 1996… it’s the blueprint for millennial horror. Nobody’s (definitively) saying it’s Craven’s best work but it’s definitely one of his most popular, other than Elm Street and The Hills Have Eyes… you really think The Hills Have Eyes would be a better viewing experience? 🤨 Also Gore Verbinski’s “The Ring” is widely considered to be one of the better remakes, with its own iconic moments and some scares that are honestly an improvement from Ringu Would be kinda unfair to expect to her to watch Ringu - good movie! But The Ring makes for a better reaction 🙏🏻

Jacob King

Nope gets my vote. Original, tense and hilarious. I love It Follows too, but it’s clearly struggling, it might be too original? Scream was the first horror move I saw in a cinema and I still find it fun.

Ben Curran

The ring is my pick from these and I think would have an amazing reaction from Nat watching it, I think she would hate it so much. But that s what we are here for with the horror one we know she really doesn't like the genre the most.

Martin7777

I wrote in another comment, I watched Nope twice in a row. Such an entertaining movie

Martin7777

I agree Nat would hate Scream. Consider changing to Nope! she will love it AND shit herself

Richard Maurer

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but I, and other people here, are entitled to disagree. I won't speak for others, but personally I'm not coming from some arrogant cinephile place as you assume, I'm just a loooong time horror fan. First - Wes Craven. I've always thought him overrated, even his best stuff doesn't approach Carpenter, Cronenberg, Romero level. Scream for all the hype it gets, just isn't a good horror film. I'll give Craven props for coming up with a clever gimmick, but in the end that's all the movie was. And it wasn't like he was the first (or second or 100th) person to point out that slasher movies have cliches, he was just smart enough to put them on film. But after you get the joke - that the film is aware of the cliches - there's really very little there. Without spoilers I didn't find Ghostface scary at all, and the identity revel was a cheat - a clever cheat - but still a cheat. Second - The Ring. You have better argument for The Ring vs Ringu, it might just come down to personal preference - or possibly even which version you saw first. But having seen Ringu quite a few times and the The Ring a couple of times, for me The Ring loses a lot in the translation - in fact it may be the cultural shift that's the problem. I just re-watched Ringu last year and it gives me a feeling of tension and general overall creepiness that The Ring has never achieved for me. To be honest I kind of find The Ring to be boring, like it's mostly just going through numbers of the original. As for The Ring making for a better reaction, I watched Vkunia's reaction to Ringu last year and it was very good, better than any Ring reaction I've every seen.

Texadan

Don't watch the Americanized The Ring. They took the scariest parts out and still had the nerve to call it a horror movie. Watch the original Japanese Ringu with subtitles.

Alan Felicia

Totally agree as I too picked The Ring. IMO, the creepiest and most "jump" scare out of the bunch LOL! Texas Chainsaw & Scream are more Gore & thriller, Nope as the Sci-Fi weird vibe, and I still on the fence about Follows.

themightyabe

Hey Nat any chance you could do rank choice voting or something that would allow multiple selections? Ideally I'd like to vote for Nope and Scream

Cory Silver

I voted for Nope, but I'm ok with Scream. If you haven't seen it before, I'd say Scream is much more of a required viewing, since it basically single-handedly defined what a horror movie would be for like, the next 10 years. Personally I like the American "The Ring" better than the original. There were a lot of "bad" American remakes of foreign horror, that were inspired by how great "The Ring" did its thing, making it look easy. Nope is a movie where the less you know going in the better. Just watch it and pay attention, and speculate and let the movie play with your mind. Chainsaw is always wonderful, but you have to watch it in the right mindset. I would Double Feature it with "The Hills have Eyes". It Follows is a movie that can be slower. It's like sleeping on hot coals rather than running through a fire. It's less intense than something like Chainsaw, but once it starts, the threat level never really goes down. There are many other movies, but this isn't the place for recommendations.

jamie jones

Should do trick r treat for natmares. That would be fun

Logan Kerlee

Which Texas Chainsaw Massacre? I'm guessing new one but the classic version is proper scary as well!

Logan Kerlee

I feel that Scream's the easiest of the bunch, but if that's what ya'll are wanting to see her react to, okie doke.

Mastervodo

My high school self and the dirtbags around me played that soundtrack to death. I nominate this one for a "bad" or "cheesy" flick for Nat to watch. She would find it funny, not scary.

J. Jeter

Texas chainsaw is definitely the scariest, but in my opinion, scream is the better movie.

Rog

Scream is a meh and nope is not as good as get out its just weird to me I didn't get it. My pick is the ring or it follows, and you're not ready for Texas chainsaw don't do it lol.

Richard Maurer

It's just that it's real popular, probably most of the people voting for Scream haven't even seen the other films in the poll. Basically they've never seen a horror film that wasn't a big budget studio film.

Jeff C

Wouldn't consider the Scream series horror or even thriller to be honest.

Logan Kerlee

Yeah, I feel that Richard. Kinda disappointing but whatever.

Danishprince

She did back in 2020, it's on here :)

Tim Keating

Was gonna say... would make an excellent finale to the channel.

Nick James

Nope is SO good please get to it soon!
