Update: WaveShaper Analyzer added! In this video, I walk you through a unique Bitwig Studio preset I created called the Compressor Analyzer. It's designed to help you visually understand what your compressor is doing to your audio signal, using only native Bitwig devices without any external plugins.
You can compare processed and dry signals side by side, making it easy to analyze or even clone compressor settings from VSTs into Bitwig. The preset is available for free on my GitHub, and I hope it helps you get more out of your compression workflow.
Introduction to a Bitwig Studio preset called Compressor Analyzer, created to help users visualize and understand what a compressor does to an audio signal.
The preset is fully native to Bitwig, requiring no external VST plugins or devices.
It generates a test signal using an AD envelope, which creates a clear ramp signal (spike) to analyze compressor response.
Frequency control is included, making the tool useful for testing multi-band compressors by targeting different frequency ranges.
The preset processes the audio through both a compressor (left channel) and a dry signal (right channel) and uses FX layers and oscilloscope visualization.
The analyzer shows both the processed and unprocessed signals, as well as their difference, allowing for clear visualization of compression impact.
Adjustable parameters (attack, release, threshold, ratio) demonstrate in real time how compressor settings affect the signal.
Useful for analyzing, understanding, and even cloning compressor settings from black box VST compressors.
Particularly helpful for those moving to Linux or trying to replicate settings from proprietary plugins in Bitwig's native environment.
The preset is available for free on the creator’s GitHub, with an open invitation for feedback and improvements.
