Chill Out from Scratch (Bitwig 6 beta 12) (Patreon)
Content
In this video, I make a complete track from scratch in Bitwig Studio 6, exploring new features from the latest beta and showing my workflow step by step.
I record vocals, design sounds and drums, play with various synths and effects, and talk through my decisions as I build the arrangement and vibe.
The session is all about experimenting and having fun with sound design, layering, and automation to create a unique musical atmosphere. Toward the end, I share some thoughts on mixing and mastering, aiming for a balanced and clear result while keeping the process straightforward and creative.
Creating music from scratch in Bitwig Studio 6 (Beta 12), focusing on new automation improvements
Recording and processing vocals using a microphone, sampler, noise reduction, auto-level, and auto-pitch
Building the track’s foundation with simple melodies, bass, and drums
Designing custom drum sounds (kick, clap, hi-hats) using the Poly Grid and layering techniques
Exploring song structure and harmony, using D# minor as the key
Balancing levels and rough mixing throughout the creation process
Adding textures, FX, and background sounds to enhance the track and add movement
Using tools like Pro-Q4, Supermassive, and Squash for shaping, reverb, and dynamics
Applying sidechain compression and spectral tools for clarity in the mix
Arranging, automating, and experimenting to build momentum and vibe in the song
Mastering approach: using Matcher for frequency balance, minimal mastering and limiting, focusing on clarity rather than complexity
