My New Free Plugin Turns Noise Into Music - Polarity-RES (Patreon)
Content
It lets you create up to 32 band-pass filters, learn resonances directly from incoming audio, and reshape sounds into resonators, drones, weird rooms or even synth-like textures. I also added note and harmonic overlays, stereo detune, noise input, MIDI pitch tracking and a few workflow tricks that make it fun to experiment with.
It’s completely free, there’s no account, no activation and no telemetry. Download link is in the description below. Let me know what you think, what breaks, and what features you want next.Download: https://polarity.productions/polarity-res/
Quick Answer
Polarity-RES is a free cross-platform resonator audio effect plugin for Windows, macOS, and Linux, available in VST3, CLAP, and AU formats; it creates up to 32 band-pass resonator bands from audio or noise.
The main use is turning any input into a resonant filter bank: click on the graph to add band-pass filters, right-click to remove them, and blend dry/wet to use it as anything from a subtle tone shaper to a strong resonator.
A standout feature is Learn/Hold analysis: freeze the input spectrum, detect prominent peaks, and auto-build resonator bands from them to copy harmonic content from drums, percussion, or tonal sounds.
It includes frequency offset, spread, stereo detune, steepness, resonance, noise input, output gain, and gain matching, so it can act as a drone/pad generator, dense room-style effect, reverb-like texture tool, or harmonic sound designer.
Two overlays make tuning easier: note/scale overlay snaps bands to notes in a chosen key, while harmonics overlay snaps to the overtone series from a fundamental; with MIDI pitch tracking, the whole resonator can be transposed like a monophonic synth-style effect.
