Just watched the latest Ableton Live preview. I think they are doing good things with the latest update. Are you interested in me exploring Live from time to time?

Not interested myself but, if it helps your channel, go for it. You gotta do what you gotta do ...

I own both ( latest and legal). I care about great / creative ways to make new music. Not religious, i.e. do not care if it is Bitwig a 3rd party plugin or another DAW. As you show in your ScalerEQ video, Bitwig can do similar things and that new (non-Bitwig) tools can also inspire Bitwig only users too.

not totally against having some look over the fence to see what interesting things are happening there, but in general i‘m here for Bitwig content. Even though i have an Ableton license and play with once a month, i mainly and daily use Bitwig and/on Linux. But another thought i already had reading the extensive article on Live 12 on CDM: Looking at unreleased software that normal people cannot even get as a beta currently is a bit pointless in my opinion - i cannot try to do anything of that on my own until i get a beta. And i will have forgotten most of it until the beta comes in multiple months. The one interesting thing there would be „hey nice feature you might be getting in live in 2024 for a 200€ upgrade, here i show you how to do that today in Bitwig“ ;)

I would most definitely be interested. I also think you have a unique perspective to offer as a former Live user who has transitioned to Bitwig and is sort of "looking back"...NOT in a "I'm going to switch" way but in a "these tools can complement each other". You have a good vantage point on both toolsets.

Jean-Arnaud

I think if you have to diversify, another DAW may not be the best option as Bitwig is your trademark. On the other hand, having more tests of new synths and effects could be fun.

Mauricio Duarte

I like the BitWig focus to be honest. Plus its main reason why I joined your Patreon. I've dabbled with Ableton and just cant see using both, its nice to focus and be best at one thing than not as great at many. Whatever you need to do is beyond our control, bu if you do ableton lets hope it doesnt decrease BitWig content? Anyway, my 2 cents bud :) Edit/Note: Maybe some videos on how we can try replicate the new features in Ableton with Bitwig (if possible of course) :)

I wanna say first a big thank you and total respect for all that you do for the community, Robert! You da BOSS! Regarding "Live" I agree with the fellows in the comment section about doing one of your amazing "Here i show you how to do that today in Bitwig“ things. 🙏🥇

Not interested, thank you. To further the comment of Jean-Arnaud, more diverse synth and fx contents could be nice although with more of the same style of content as you do with Bitwig matters. Not only trendy new synths and fx. And not only tests or reviews, but exploration of synths and fx. ... For instance, there was a version 3 update recently of a quite unique synth with an innovative synthesis aproach, German-made : RayBlaster3, which is nice to produce amongst other things dynamic ambient textures.

I’m always happy to learn new creative way to make music! And it’s not that if you are exploring live, we will get less content with Bitwig! And this is also a great opportunity to grow your community, so go for it! Meanwhile, I like also when you use hardware too 😉

Steve Betteridge

i'll be honest, when I saw the live 12 vid on youtube I was intrigued but I'm not about to switch over to Ableton anytime soon. I love bitwig too much.

On a note of aesthetics, I would quite like it if (and this probably sounds a bit sad) we could reskin Bitwig, a la ableton. But this ain't the thread for that conversation

Jeremy Daw

I'm here for the Bitwig. I never liked Live Session v Arrange view. Live mixer is not good. I have huge screens and have to fitz with tiny plugins at the bottom of the screen in Live (Bitwig is better, but still not great IMO). Live crashes.

David Crossan

I’m probably never going to be an Ableton user, but I’d still like to know in what ways it was superior to Bitwig. The ensuing discussion might keep pressure on the Bitwig team for improvements.

Jeff Greenlee

Tale of two cities for me! I love both! I use Bitwig most of the time.. but... I still love playing around with Ableton.... I think some of the additions to Ableton 12 look very interesting! I confess I am hoping that maybe they might see fit to fixing the crashing on MacOS whenever I turn off an instrument. (I Never see that with Bitwig.)

I’m definitely in. DAWs definitely nudge you towards their intention and it would be interesting to see you interface with Live. A big struggle I had moving from Live/Bitwig was learning to do things the way Bitwig was nudging me towards, and get my self out of the way. Would be cool to see the opposite experience.
