Love how the animation can go from simple basic shapes to full on MHA battle scene style. 😆

For episode 9, Maruzensky never had the chance to run in the Japanese Derby as at the time the JRA (the IRL version of anime's URA) had a ban on foreign horses from running in the majority of G1 races, including the Classic Triple Crown; Maruzensky is an interesting case as the horse was born in Japan, but since Maruzensky was conceived in the USA, the JRA considered her as a foreign horse. Some additional fun facts about Maruzensky: currently she's by far the oldest playable Uma in the game, as the horse raced IRL during the mid to late 1970s. This is shown in universe by having Maruzensky being treated as like the onee-san type character to her peers, being interested in learning slang those youngsters are using lol, confirmed in universe to have a driver's license, and is drinking buddies with Tazuna (the secretary in green in episode 7). She is on the student council with people like Rudolf and CB, as the IRL horse had an undefeated racing career and was nicknamed "Super Car" or "Hot Rod". Maruzensky is shown to have a strong relationship with Sakura Chiyono O in CinGray as the IRL Sakura Chiyono O is Maruzensky's son.

In Oguri's class, the only playable Uma outside of Oguri in the global version is Super Creek. Super Creek has gotten fairly popular in the global community as she's the archetypal "anime mom" in the game and often treats the Trainer (you) and her fellow Umas as children. A rather funny/infamous meme from the community is Super Creek asking you to "play Goo-Goo babies with her". Yaeno Muteki, Sakura Chiyono O, and Mejiro Ardan are in the global version of the game, but currently aren't playable. Dicta Striker (the Uma that wears the hood) and Black Ale are "unlicensed Umas", so they don't appear in the game and are loosely based on IRL races that CyGames haven't gotten permissions to use the exact names of; Dicta Striker is based on the IRL horse Soccer Boy, and Black Ale is based on the IRL horse Rugger Black.

Since Yui asked who's your favorite Uma, for me it's gotta be Tokai Teio. Her character arc in the Pretty Derby anime is SO GOOD. A close second would be Matikanefukukitaru, but that's just because I think that she's funny lol.

Since no one mentioned in chat - Sakura Chyono O is the offspring of Maruzensky. Maruzensky being an imported horse was not allowed to race in G1 races, hence kind of relied on his offspring to do the job. It's not explained in the anime, but this is why you see Maruzensky being proud of Sakura

Most of the Graded race (G3, G2, and G1) can be entered more than once if you're qualified for it (get voted in, registration, winning a specific race beforehand, and etc), but some special Graded race can only be entered at certain point of the uma career like the classic triple crown which can only be entered by uma in their Junior year. The once in a lifetime aspect is also the reason why the classic triple crown get glazed by many people. My Favourite horse is Vodka, because i really liked her cool design and wanting to be cool or tough personality. Do you know that Vodka is the first Mare in 64 years that won the Japanese Derby? She is also the first Mare that got 7 G1 wins under her belt tied with Simboli Rudolf record. Vodka is Daiwa Scarlets roommate/bestfriend/enemy/lover and biggest rival, they like to fight a lot lol. The big highlight of their real life rivalry is when Vodka and Daiwa Scarlet race in Autumn Tenno sho where Vodka win against Daiwa Scarlet by 2cm. The difference is so small that it took a couple of minute to inspect the photo finish.
