Don't you think that you should be focusing on finishing the next update other than messing around by drawing rohandas mom or dad, and those ridiculous background. How about you be honest with us all you either finish the update or just say you can't do it and the tech update is mor than you can chew and start working on rohandas update already.

I think that the art part is just a segment of what is next and, by far, the one we get the most update from. What is lagging behind are some other stuff so, what's the point in complaining if the artist just goes ahead and deals with some work they will have to do eventually for next patch anyway?

What Dralgo^^^ said. I think DC is just working ahead while the coders do their thing for the tech update. Also, there was a vote some time ago on whether the tech update or Rhonda's update should be next, and the tech update won by a large margin. I voted for Rhonda, but I respect democracy. Plus, I'm sure the tech update will bring a lot of improvements that we don't even realize yet. Also, the game is 100% free. I pay a dollar a month so I can see how things are going, but everyone gets the same build at the end of the development cycle. It's not worth complaining about a free game.

A few months ago I criticised the development speed of the game. Today I could post the exakt same text again but I honestly only want an answer for what the f. is happening. The website together with the tracker is tracked by archive.org and you can see there that the progress at 21. of july was 45% currently we are at 62% which means in a span of 4/5 months you didn't even make 20% progress. The progress since 9. nov to today is 2%. I know you get sick a lot but at this point (for me and others) it looks like you are the only person working at the game. 2% in a month is a new all time low even for the already slow process of summertime saga. At this point I'm not even sure we can expect the tech update (without actual content!) to be released in 2022.

I don't think the website is updating correctly, because if I remember correctly they are done with the art on the tech update and are working on the code now. yet the tracker say the art is not finished. I will however agree with you the development is way to slow if you take how much they make and take out patreon's cut they make 884,594.4 (it will be lower because of taxes) How are they not doing this quickly, with a budget like that the whole game should of been finished by now.

If the tracker doesn't work correctly it would explain some things, but something like this should be communicated to the patreons. Part of my critique a few months ago was the shitty communication. Yes there is the stream where cookie explains things sometimes, but you can't expect all patreons to watch the stream and even when they can still miss a stream. I'm currently supporting 3 other creators of similiar games here on patreon and absolutely everyone of them makes a progress report once a week (even when there is no relevant progress) and if something happens like getting sick they openly announce it the moment it's happening. Here at this project it repeatedly happened that progress stopped a few weeks completely and maybe (but only maybe) we got an explanation months after when the version was released ("Yeah we lost a coder earlier this year, therefore it took us so long"). If there is a problem it should be communicated to the people actually paying him and it's more than obvious there is one.

Playing devils advocate here (when I say devils advocate I mean DC). I shall admit that there is a noticeably low quantity of formal communication to Patreons regarding the oft referred 'Tech Update'. As a patreon myself, I also share some frustration especially not being able to fully experience some of the updates due to development. It is nice to see some of the art assets for future releases but, all in all I think really most are really seeking a prompt and significant update version of which has been in development for a while. However, I shall say that there are likely many factors that come into play when communication is concerned. The art is certainly a significant part of this game and DC has confirmed that the art portion of the Tech Update has been completed. From what I've understood so far, the challenge now is, in laymans terms, lining up everything else. I'm no game developer so this is 100% up for scrutiny, but from my understanding this isn't simply an update to change the ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 which would be as simple to change as if you were doing so in any game yourself. There are likely coding parameters and old functions which, whilst necessary and useful in older builds, may cause issues and further problems. Again, I don't have any authority to talk on the subject of technicality or complexity of solving these issues, however I do get that there is much more to an update like this than just the art itself. Additionally, DC has stated there is additional content which will be included in the Tech Update, so there is likely work that needs to be done for that as well. I don't know what the workforce looks like on his end, so far all I can go off is the streams which only show DC creating the artwork. It's entirely possible that there are other internal development 'speedbumps', some which could be resolved others which may be completely out of DC's control, which may be causing delays also. We can speculate all we want but ultimately it really is DC's decision as to the method of communication. I'm happy for anyone to challenge me on this, again I'm in no way associated with DC, only as a minor patreon, and I've probably missed a few points as well but in all honesty I'm also getting ticked off with the amount of posts essentially saying the same thing every single time.

Well, I'm gonna challenge you in spanish slang then... Mirá, yo creo que este tipo siempre que tiene oportunidad, se hace el boludo y mete retrasos con cualquier pretexto. Muchas veces, cuando veo lo que está haciendo en vivo, pelotudea con cosas que nada tiene que ver con el "tech update". Levanta bocha de guita, suficiente como para poder meterle un poco más de caña al asunto y liberar versiones más a menudo, pero prefiere estirar y estirar ya que la gran mayoría acá son aplaudidores (porque no ponen un sope), sabe perfectamente que es el juego N°1 y especula muy bien con eso. Cada tanto postea boludeces como este artículo para la gilada así los rompe huevos se tranquilizan un poco y baja un poco la ansiedad. Presta atención, es su modus operandi desde hace mucho tiempo. Le calienta la cabeza a la gente con algún que otro outfit pedorro, algún edificio lindo, etc, y con eso estira y estira y estira. Yo soy patreon hace bastante y la verdad, me lo banco así (de hecho, justamente el ser patreon implica "tomalo o dejalo" porque el tipo no es tu empleado y puede hacer lo que se le cante)... Pero ni en pedo pongo más de un dolar por mes con este atorrante porque, claremente, no me inspira confianza y sé que se está haciendo el dolobu y que literalmente, de alguna manera u otra, está cagando a la gente que hace años le hace el aguante. La calidad final del juego es suprema y sigo apoyando por ese simple motivo pero en la primera de cambio que me termine de hinchar las pelotas, corto el soporte y empiezo a bajarme el juego en "la página que todos sabemos" que siempre lo publican al toque de liberar las versiones. El día que este tipo ponga fechas para las versiones y las cumpla, será merecedor del triple de guita que levanta. Pero claramente está cómodo con esta forma de laburar. Es una pena porque cuando se acabe la gallina de los huevos de oro con este juego y tenga que volver a laburar en algo quizás más formal, no creo que consiga algo potable de alguien que sepa quien es y cómo es su "forma de trabajar".

This game is not free. If this game doesn't get paid, there will be no further development. That's why it's not free.

I got way too involved In the story and characters and now I want more lol I want more to do with them... maybe make my house bigger and let companions come over... maybe pay the school for watching the kids.... I just want more stuff to do with my money. Maybe some dialog involving paying for stuff since I've worked for a minute and saved up my dollaridoos. Maybe help out my buddy lose weight and date. More dating scenarios that get affected by your income, smarts and charisma. I'm glad I took forever to play this game...I aint put it off I just played slowly and worked ALOT. Thought I'd have more use for my munnies

I have been following and supporting this game for ages. and every year the updates are getting further and further apart. in the beginning they were slightly longer than a month then two then three and now we get one or two updates a year. at $78,000 per month in revenue, you would think that the updates would be a priority. but this game seems to be taking more and more of a back burner state the last few years.

The tech update is not done. We knew it would take a while to complete. The longer it was pushed back, the more things needed adjustment or updating. Backgrounds, characters, all the little pieces, code, languages, etc. We have received a partial update and we have seen progress for future updates in the daily streaming and the patreon page. When it gets here it will be great. Really looking forward to it.

As a game grows, complexity grows faster. The larger and older a game, the more difficult it is to add content, especially when you are doing a tech update. Tech updates often expose problems that should have been fixed, but no one got around to it.

The complexity is no excuse. its a lack of priority. There are multiple people working on this, its not merely one guy. at this point several full length game could have been made to completion. Its the carrot on a string scenario.... keep them waiting, keep them paying. The creator is more likely afraid that this golden goose will end if he works too fast. and scared that this is a one hit wonder rather than the possibility of another game just a successful.

I don't think he is afraid. Every somewhat decent erotic game in the last years that got at least a bit publicity is doing well. If he would finish summertime saga and start a new game or a sequel or prequel probably most people would continue supporting him. He would actually probably make more money with it because many people are pissed because of the lack of updates and stopped/reduced support. He could also simply add more and more things to the game while still updating it regularly. Maybe i'm wrong but I honestly think it's simply a management problem. He started alone and while the team and game got bigger it feels like he doesn't realize that this is now more than a hobby project of one person. He should have a whole team and either manage it or hire someone to manage the team, as well as a certain redundancy for key roles like programming. Currently it seems like one person leaving (for whatever reason) halts the development for multiple weeks/months.

Eric I know nothing about you except that you are frustrated With the progress on this game. I understand this. But I'm going to make an assumption here and it could be wrong but I don't think it is you have never created a game this complex. With each new update it becomes more complex it's almost like having to code the game all over again a lot of C is plugged and play but but this is a game gain that depends heavily upon what you do within the game so it has to be coded differently. It's almost like coding a completely different game every time you release an update . Hmm, my Roxy machine also says 98% and no there's no tick on the locker sheet. In the debugger it has Roxy beach sex = 0 and it does seem like final spin is always Becca these days. I'll give it a few more spins when I get time.

Dear Keith I don't know anything about you but please don't write things that are completely wrong. If it's like "coding a completely different game on each update" then you did an absolutely shitty job and shouldn't call yourself a programmer. And yes I can say that as a professional software developer who studied computer science. Good programming means you abstract things to use them multiple times and have a clean structure that allows to add new things or update existing things without rewriting everything even when the complexity gets larger and larger.

no one pays for the game. never pay anything to anyone and if you have a means of downloading it, you get the complete game for free with no strings attached. free means there is no exchange of currency or goods/services to get a copy. please don’t try to convince me you must pay anything to get your copy. when it’s ready, we get the update.

I mean he has to pay his team somehow, I'm sure he does so both from Patreon and from his own pocket. Do you know how long it takes to complete the game as it is now, like play it through? A LONG ASS TIME. If you played it straight through, no sleep ot anything, I know it would take a few days at least. They're redoing all of it, and that shit takes time, especially with a smaller group and not a AAA studio.

This game is being completely reworked and on top of that, they're adding new locations and people to the mix. They're redesigning everything and adding on more with it. The update, when it comes out, will be MASSIVE, it's something that I bet 100% will make us want to play the game over again because of how different things will be. If it takes a while, it takes a while, but I won't pull my support just because it does. Some of you seem to think that DC has some kind of malicious intent or something when it comes to updates or the speed of said updates. You have to understand that being the head of a company as well as a team of animators is extremely difficult. 2D animation, especially in the 3Desc style that they animate it in, is extremely difficult. Jenny's and Debbie's animations will probably take up a lot of time given the number of them, not to mention everyone else who has an animated scene, and that doesn't even count for all of the still image transitions, facial expressions, how they look while you explore various locations, the locations themselves, everything is being changed. It will take as long as it needs to to look good, as it always does. I didn't mind waiting before and I don't mind waiting now, because I, much like DC and his team, have a life away from this game and gaming in general.

I didn't think anyone could post here unless they were a patron and actually paying something monthly for the work. It isn't too difficult to understand why some people feel a bit frustrated by the pace. There are other creators with much smaller budgets that release updates on renpy games every few weeks and post messages or art work samples every few day. Summertime Saga is a pretty big game, so I don't expect the same update pace, even if they have the income for a decent size staff. It would be nice to read more frequent progress updates posted on Patreon.

I have voiced my opinion, like everyone else. When they hit a soft spot, they’ve been deleted 😀, never even wrote a curse word or anything in them. I guess they just hit where it tickles. All i wonder is how much the Discord moderator’s getting paid? They act like the average discord moderator’s that’s for sure, but making random patreon accounts that doesn’t support and never even supported the creator is on another level. They really got their acting down on trying to be the “i am the cool guy around” on a site supporting a p*rn game. Kinda contradictory if you ask me but whatever. Always different user name’s, always the same “dogma” while never supporting the creator. I mean they should be at least at 20$ if you ask me. Sounds like they are pretty big fan’s. I am not the first one to say it but i guess we must be wrong, and the internet is full of people who are making patreon accounts to defend their favorite to their last breath against actual supporter’s who are complaining and rightfully so. The fact that DC doesn’t give them 5$ a month, to seem at least somewhat genuine just show’s how he really is. Let’s have a guess, who will it be? Connor Seidel? or maybe Skeeta_bite? or maybe they’ll create a new one just to seem original? Or they try to play it off like “you crazy” i am just here to defend daddy, but at the same time I don’t support and I don’t cafe about the game. 🥴 please let’s hear our next story, I literally come back and read the comments just to see one of you write “it’ll be ready when it’s done”.
