Some of you may remember a while ago I had started to make a promotional art piece for the game but didn't have time to finish it due to the development schedule taking too much of my time. A lot of fans kept messaging about completing it so here it is! It changed quite a bit from the original (for the better) but keeps the same spirit. I'll most likely be using it ingame and as a marketing piece in the future but for now it's a wallpaper for eye pleasure.

Judging by your keen sense of balance in this shot you make it obvious that you not only are a dedicated artist, but also a confident practitioner of appropriate color theory. It is legitimately a fine piece of pop art and you should be proud. As a brief side note, I have been enjoying you work for a while now by lurking in the discord and streams. Never really knowing what to say in the crowd of support that surrounds you, and to be honest I doubt that you will actually see this, but I wanted to speak on something that has garnered my attention. I signed up this month a little while ago after playing a part of the game. I saw that it's pretty cool and that we have choices that give more diversity to the game. And the game is pretty cool, I hope it doesn't take too long for the full version to come out, I don't want to play more than necessary before it's released. Congratulations to everyone involved. Don’t know if you realize this but game development is a slow and expensive process. I can’t say for sure whether or not they are using the money they receive well but they made a quality game and give consistent updates. Their speed of development is pretty consistent with other indie games. Try to work on forming sentences before you go out to critique others

The amount of people constanly making excuses and apologizing for DC is staggering. YES game development takes time but this dude gets 80k every month and let's be real this is not a complicated game, it's a point and click visual novel. With the amount of money this Patreon is getting there should be at least a new update every few months and yet the game hasn't gotten a proper update in over a year. There are similar game with the same amount of quality but with half the budget that pomp out actual content updates every 2-3 months. Make him accountable instead of riding his dick or it will never change

I think what people have to look at is why hes getting that 80K a month despite the slow updates. People pledge for different reasons and if your a patron whos donated more than his fair share you have the right to your say and I am not saying your wrong. Yet no one is forcing any of the big spenders on this game to keep funding it. I have noticed that the income has only grown since I been sitting as a dollar patron and I think that's a signe that people just want to tip DC big. I would say if your unsatisfied with the progress you withdraw your pledge simple as that! I think the updates have been slow as well but I still like the game so I just spend a dollar for the month to see what's happening and I still get access when updates do come out. That has cost me 12 bucks in the year. I am just doubtful that even the unhappy majority left he would still be getting 40K from the people who really want to fund the game.

I think the issues steam for a slow and quite frankly inefficient workflow. If you compile DC assets from a year hes done I think all of it himself and that backrounds, characters, animation, ect. plus they are fully rendered and have multiple poses for all of them. While with hollow knight is a more simplified style and it works to their advantage in terms of efficiency. If anything DC needs more artist but then again last year his income was around 40k a month and this year its 80K. So there must be something hes doing right if that's the case. I have only been spending a dollar on the project so I don't have much stake in all this but what I can see is that DC is drawing in a loyal crowd of big spenders and they absolutely don't mind the slow process and that on them cause why else is he getting even more income than last year? I have a feeling if all the unhappy patrons left hed still be making a decent ammount just because people are satsfied atm as someone thats been seeing this unfold for a year I think people just need to pull there pledges if they are unsatisfied with DC results or at least lowwer it to the doller pledge since you still get acess to most things.

He is not working on his own... He has a team of people who are dragging their heels majorly. According to the progress tracker the majority of the art is already done (so he doesn't need an artist like you've said) but the 'coding' is taking forever. Don't try and make up any excuses for them, they're just chilling rolling in money rn

Anyone who isn't convinced that this is an enormous cash cow, think about this. The tech update has been worked on for more than a year now. The main delay (apparently) is due to re-building the game, re-posing and coding. The art is done by DC and according to their own tracker, that is basically done by now. The writing is done as well (and even if it wasn't it really wouldn't take that long to complete...) The main bit of work outstanding is the coding/posing. Now given the core framework of the game already exists, it really is not that challenging to re-code to accommodate for a display ratio change (4:3 to 16:9) and even if there were 'lots to do', you can still copy/paste (tweaking variables where necessary) a whole lot from the previous framework. So if you were the person in charge, and you could see that the coders were dragging their heels to get this fixed, would you perhaps get some new blood in to at least support the current team? Maybe. BUT think about this, the longer the game gets delayed, the more months worth of crowdfunding you get. Also, if you add more people onto the team, there's going to have to be a squeeze on the share of funding, where else is the money going to come from. I just think they believe once the Tech Update gets released, the cash flow will reduce (which it probably will). So honestly... anyone that is still trying to defend this joke... how can you believe that this 'update' is genuinely taking this long to complete?

For the people complaining have any of you worked ok coding your own game? What about doing the art work for one? How about the storyboard work? Actual beta testing a game? All of the above is why it takes years for a good video game to be made with the amount of playtime this one has. They are doing a mass overhaul of the game and everything in it, it’s virtually making the game from scratch including every update done since it’s first release. Along the way the creative team has also provided extra content to enjoy sneak peeks of what we are about to get, providing updates, and taking the time to get YOUR input into what else to add to the game. If anything placating your whining asses delays them the most. If you don’t like waiting for good quality go make your own game. Don't have the patience for that? Then give up video game in general because you will be disappointed with every last one because you have to wait.

Yes I have and I know for a fact that what they are doing should not take anywhere near as long as it has. It's a visual novel with a few extra mini games, this genre does not take years to create. I've mentioned this before, what they're aiming for is really not as intensive as many people are believing. To say that they're making the game from scratch is an outright lie, they already have the scripts necessary for a foundation build from all the previous versions. It isn't necessary to rebuild from scratch when all you realistically need to do is amend & test variables. The coding & posing are the only outstanding tasks which have been incredibly slow to progress, whilst it can take time to test, it really doesn't take as many months as it has been doing. Your final point 'give up video game in general' is honestly such a blind fanboy viewpoint and I guarantee when the update finally releases you will realise how little actually gets added to the game.

To be honest, I'm paying 1$ a month just for the comments, it's so funny. My last update was 0.20.0 and that was May 2020 and now we have.. oh July 2022, that's over 2 years and the current update is still 0.20.14. That's not progress that's procrastination. There is one poll after another but never the option 'just finish the game'. Do the math if this keeps up the game will be finished in five or more years, that's ridicules. He might be a good artist, but he's not a developer.

It's been 4 'small pre-tech' updates since June of last year. I know the devout DC apologizers are going to attack, but gimme a $%#^# break....really? It seems that as membership has grown and the developers have supposedly staffed up, the updates have slowed down. It just doesn't make any sense and a very fine line between supporting and being milked.
