I think this reaction is a bit harsh but fair, only because DC has not helped us understand why the tech update is taking so long. If we were educated on what is causing the long developing process it would feel less like a "money grab". I know DC added a monthly update post (which should have been there to begin with), but I think we would all like to hear more frequently. Remember the passion behind these kind of comments are because we are excited to play the update!

Hey now, you can't go explaining logic and reason to these people. They want it now, and if they don't get it, they stamp their feet and yell. Then if it's explained to them, it isn't good enough. Then if it's released, it "took too long". Just so you know, the creator streams like every day his live development of the game. Just because you couldn’t scroll down and join a daily livestream doesn’t mean he’s not working on it. Most recent stream was July 18th. One before that was July 17th. Clearly development is constantly in process.

Is this guy/team really making 60 000 dollars per month? That is incredible. I just had to throw in 1 dollar to be able to write this comment. I mean, this is sick ton of money even if the game is getting bigger and bigger. This is even more money then no sex game makes. But how much does the "employees" get per month? 700 000 dollars a year? Is crazy numbers. Im working in the wrong departement. Everyone needs to understand that there is a line between how slow you can work and how much money you still can get. I guess there is a good money management involved. I would have calculated if it were me. No doubt he does the same. And there is new people like me (even if i only will subscribe for one month) joining all the time. He is a winner, hands down.

I'm going to attempt to address a few things, as it seems there's a lot of animosity around here these days. Admittedly, I'm part of it, as I've been VERY critical of DC over the last year. I want to try to give the viewpoint of a large number of supporters, while addressing the common arguments we encounter. "If you're so angry, just leave. There's lots of porn games you can rub one out to." The "haters", the "simps", and everyone between are all here for the same reason: We WANT the game to succeed. We WANT to play the finished product. "Most people voted for this back in the day. Fans wanted this." This is true, to an extent. Realize, though, that the tech update was sold as a quick, 3-4 month upgrade to the game. The fact that three years later we still don't have an estimated release date is the part that bothers people. "DC didn't know it would take this long." Then maybe this was a task he shouldn't have undertaken. "You're not a developer, you have no idea how much work this is. He has to remake THE WHOLE GAME." The vast majority of people here are not developers, so that's not news. That being said, SS has been in development for seven years now. The tech update has been in the works for three years. There have been plenty of high quality games that have been started, finished, and been left behind in that time. Many of the games had less developers, and made less money. With nine developers, and $60,000 per month, SS could have been completed by this point. "Quit crying about updates, DC updates all the time on his livestream." The overwhelming majority of people subscribed here do not have the time nor the inclination to watch a developer talk while he works. They subscribe here, get their download links here, and check here for updates. It took over 2.5 years to even get a status update with any relevance. For a crowd-sourced game, this is unheard of. At this point, this game has become pretty divisive. We can all admit that the wait is getting old, as is the utter lack of communication. More than anything, though, the lack of a rollout date for the tech update is frustrating. Every "new" wallpaper seems like just another placeholder used to keep people here a bit longer. Being critical of DC isn't trolling, and neither is supporting DC through thick and thin. I think a lot of us have gotten away from that recently. I'll try to dial down my criticisms for now, for no other reason but to try to keep the peace in the community.

3 years ago the teach update won the voting poll, I was 18 at the time now I'm 21 and The person who loved this project has changed and I can no longer even open the game for a quick play as I've explored everything multiple times and we've been deprived which kills anyone's passion for what they enjoy. To think that The Tech update was sold as a 3-4 months project was very exciting at the time, but now at this point we just want this to be out already as the waiting as prolonged past due. With also no due date or estimation on how much longer it will need, this can go on and on for how ever long as they see fit's which is way over due at this point. There is so little mentioned in the live streams, there really is never a real genuine question asked that give's important information on the update and when it could be done, It's mainly just small talk between you and your fan's about your personal life let's not lie here. I can't recall the amount of times I've heard the phrase "you'll see when the Teach Update is out" has been repeated, ughh like it has not been 3 years already..

Oh look at that! Another set of screenshots that took 40ish minutes to do but no update on a finished product or even a significant update...how very MilfCity of you. At this point DC should just promise the full game to anyone who stuck in this long. Yeah its only 1$ a month but over 7 years that adds up. Not to mention the original 5-20$ given when the project was actually being worked on. Its really shitty to do this to a crowd funded group that actually believed in you to give money. Before someone remotely tries to tell me "Your not a developer" blah blah blah...I am actually. I work with less developers than DC and I have built entire infrastructures and AI powered hospital management and from scratch my team of 4 devs built an entire inventory management with AI analysis and integrated it into multiple cloud developments during the last 6 months of focused work. But no you are right...9 dev's making twice what my team makes a month should be given the benefit of the doubt on what....expanding assets to fit a wide screen? Upscaling previous images? What other nonsense was in that thing? New areas? I mean....come on. Its all pointless though. DC sold his soul like every other Developer on this platform that finds lightning in a bottle. Here's hoping NLT doesn't succumb to this like so many others have. What a shame DC did too. I know you don't care DC...Like i truly get it. You got yours and you don't give a damn. American dream. NGL i'm kinda losing my temper about this update i mean 3 years is the ammount of time some studio take to create an AAA game. Also I cannot fully blame the team because after these years only thing that was ans stil is going slow is the coding so if the issue comes from programmers and testers just hire more of them it's like the man works alone while every other part has either really easy work compared to him or has more members in the batch like cmon if the coding was going faster the update would have been ready for early summer.

I've spent more on this than God of War 1&2 and Last of Us 1&2. NOTHING in this game is that complicated. They'd have been better off just starting over with the new tech.

Projects like these, especially those that are written by non-programmers (like this one), are giant piles of technical debt. If the scope of the project is kept reasonable they can be finished without ever 'paying' that debt, which often takes more effort than it did to get the project to that point in the first place. They're at least making progress towards it, but it's going to take time. I've seen other projects completely burn out from this.

While personally I think python/renpy is a little easier/user friendly to code than java, very well made point. The majority of people complaining probably know little to nothing about code or graphic imaging/rendering/art/etc. I think the main problem is people think they are buying the game with their donations. The system is to support an artist, not buy their product. Should they deliver their art? Yes. But if you aren't satisfied with the quality or expediency of said art, vote with your wallet.

I would have done the same, I'm truly honest with that. But DC should explain (be honest) were is all this money going? It is crazy numbers for a buggy picture and text game. 60K /month, 9 developers. It does not sound right. At least, be honest and get some credibility. Being honest could actually make you earn even more money! Who knows. Maybe his relationship is a disaster or the Russian mob/Trump is after him? But without explanations people will not understand and speculate. I'm out after this month. But I must admit that it is very very smart that you have to pay to be able to read the comments. Before you could not see the updates but you could read the comments and that made me to not pay and stay away. I could read peoples frustration. I understand why he changed this hehe. More money doesn’t equal faster development. I would suggest scrolling up to one of the previous comments on how little progress a days worth of coding actually is. Or you can tune into the livestreams as everyone else has also pointed out. A days worth of code to make 10 seconds of game is a long ass time if you’re wanting a game that takes hours to play and several minutes per sex scene. As simple as you think this game is, it’s not. It’s not like loading up Unreal Engine and making premade objects move around. All of it is being hand designed and poses frame by frame. Any game design can take months just to make something small. It takes hundreds or even thousands of developers and other contributors to put a finished game out every 5-7 years. It took 3 years to develop Jedi Fallen order with an employee size of 300 and that was considered a miracle compared to how long it takes other games to develop. And now we have a game that was being developed by 1 person for the beginning, and now only have 9. 9 people developing a game goes much slower than 300. And even if all 300 people aren’t working on the same game at one time, there are still more contributors to the games we’re used to being released every few years than this game is getting. Just some things to consider before subscribing to game creators next time.

I understand what you are saying. But the 60K+ cash people chipping in every month is a crazy amount and not equal with the progress. No way there is 9 people working on this full time. And I do not think everyone is programing either. If you get 60K a month you could easily hire more people. But hey, I'm honest, I guess I would have done the same. Why speed up if you month after month get 60K? I do not want to support this and rather pay 50-70 upfront when it is done without bugs, like with normal games. I could support this project like I have done with other projects but it is not fair when he does not communicate or honest with his tactics.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna give DC till the end of the year. I've (most of us) have well over paid for this tech update at this point over the YEARS we have been waiting. I'm all for giving creators the time they need to deliver a quality product but this is getting ridiculous. Especially when you have games like Being a Dik and FL3 being released quicker than this game.

I find it hilarious the amount being earned was removed from the patreon. Presuming he's lost quite a bit because of the obvious slowness of nine months since even a small update longer since anything real. They have to be making at least 55k from their almost 70k a month at this point. Hopefully less.
