So... Sanada does not like Kazuma because he is a high-spec guy. It is quite common here, but I think there are also people in the US who are like this. Sanada is well aware of his shortcomings, so when he meets a young guy with a high-education level who has it all together, he gets jealous and acts a fool. The guy Ren meets with mentioned it in a previous episode. Now we get into the dark side of this story. I suspect the author saw the Me Too movement and wanted to work it in. I should add here, this sort of thing is quite common. The higher up you are the less likely you are to be held on SA. But even bottom feeders are unlikely to be charged. First of all, Japanese society is more unforgiving, and as an SA victim, you could possibly risk never being able to be in a relationship again, etc. Secondly, sometimes police actively discourage reporting crimes. I do not know how to explain it, but if they do not feel like you will win, they tell you that. About the self harm, we actually saw it in ep 4. Rendid it so he could go the hospital and see Kazuma. Poor baby though. He has been in France for months without knowing if Kazuma is alive or not. Remember when Kazuma was being wheeled into the ambulance, his phone fell and broke. Since he left Japan, I guess his mum never bothered to replace it. So that number just went out of use. Also, the lady at the end is Kazuma's mum, not Ren's. That's why she calls him by his old last name. She does not know his family kicked him out. Wasn't sure if you picked up on that. Ren got me all caught up with his talk about the miracle this episode. I kind of like that we have been switching perspectives these last two eps. And that shirt scene was so cute.
