Hi Everyone, Here's Chapter 34 of Wildcards! Hope you enjoy it and have a great weekend. I've been experimenting with dictation software, so my editing took up a lot of time. On the upside, I think the formatting carried over nicely for the PDF version. Let me know what you think! James

Hmm when you said you'd consider it, I thought you'd try it out at least once..

Hi Deinos, I'm really sorry about this. I tried it out in a draft form, but it didn't convert any of the stat boxes. All of them lost the blue border and became just normal text. I don't want people reading that version of it, without the boxes as it's not an enjoyable experience. We are working on a website though that will be optimised for mobile so reading chapters hopefully won't be painful for you anymore.

Deinos

Thanks for your reply, donno which blue boxes you mean. I'm using the epub version and the "boxes" are faint light grey( its barely readable). For pdf I don't have a good reader, if that is what you mean?

Deinos

Don't mean to bust your balls but your reply baffles me. If your main goal is to give your readers only the best/unadultered reading experience then that's already busted. Now after checking the pdf version I see which coloring you mean but it is not there in epub, I'd gladly show you a pic of that.. in fact let's do that: https://freeimage.host/i/FB0aet . This is a screenshot of my reading experience using Moon Reader 6.2. As you can see it is far from high quality or enjoyable. In order to limit the reading experience to a version with blue boxes you'd have to take the epub version down. By which point I would stop reading on patreon, since I cba to check for best players available that Might give me a better pdf experience without zooming in and out every step of the way, as an aside. Now you're already hosting a version that has no blue boxes which makes me wonder why the hangup about blue boxes then, while not putting it simply on patreon. Additionally, as far as I know, you can host display pictures in patreon. So if the blue boxes are important to you, you could make pictures out of them and put them here, or not if it's too much hustle or if it's not possible, either way is fine with me.

If someone wants to read on the PDF, they'll have to scroll down through the text of the Chapter and potentially spoil it on themselves. That's one consideration. The boxes still exist in the epub, and don't blend into the other text. I didn't realise that they were so bright though. I originally created a poll in the past on how readers wanted to receive chapters. The consensus was epub and PDF which is why I chose those two options. Patreon does not have a very good text editor and doesn't allow the formatting I want to showcase the chapters. I'll run that poll again now that we have more Patrons and I'll continue to try and find a solution that works for you and that also works for me.

If I understand it correctly, the long term plan is to have a dedicated website with the text, layout and such be exactly what he wants (and allows possibiltles of extras that makes following the story more delightful). So pdf and epub options are the for now best options as it covers all people to read the story while he works on getting that set up. Also.. I'm fairly certain that Adobe has a free program that reads and displays PDF's if you don't have such a program already.

Deinos, I've just added a HTML link as an option. It opens on a browser on your phone and includes the blue boxes and makes it a better reading experience. Can you check to see if that works for you?

Deinos

Thanks for the HTML file! It's much better!

Great chapter once again.
