Here's some Process Trivia!!! This plot point's been in the books for forever. Fenic's always been "meant" to have short hair, from her character design standpoint -- it's short in all my old art and even, tellingly, in some promo art I produced recently, haha! BUT, her hair growing ended up being kind of a narrative device in the prologue and the transition to the first chapter. So I always knew it was gonna get cut... and as I was writing the synopsis for the later chapters, I figured out exactly how.

I love her long hair, but here's a tiny artist heart-to-heart... that ponytail was a nightmare to draw!!!!!
