Thank you for sharing your beautiful sketchbook with us. Sketchbooks are my favorite as I feel they represent each individual. You paint something that catches your eye but not necessarily everyone else's. They are quite personal in my opinion. I look forward to learning more from you, Ellen, in 2025. May it be your happiest year yet.

So enjoyed your 2024 sketchbook. Sketchbook art is fast becoming my favorite way to paint. It organizes your artwork - and I particularly enjoy using when I travel. It is smaller than a standard size paper (9 x 12 or 8 x 10) and a sketch or painting can be accomplished in an afternoon or less. It’s more spontaneous too. Not planning on selling my artwork so no pressure there. Thanks Ellen for sharing. Happy New Year!

Thank you for sharing your sketchbook. Loved hearing about all your journeys and seeing through you sketches

Ellen - quick question. When you use your sketchbook, do you take a photo of the subject first and then sketch from that, later on? Or do you sketch right then, in the moment? Also, what is the make of the cool mechanical pencil that you use? I like it a lot!

Not the one I liked the Etcr “ perfect sketchbook “ isn’t that size

My goal for 2025: Get out of my head!!

Thank you for sharing your sketch book and travels! Loved it, and I loved your encouragement to just do it. I’ve been in a real slump: change of meds and a family member who is very ill, so our holidays have not been what they were in the past. I am ready to go forward again. ❤️

Thanks so much for sharing! My dream for 2025 is to paint in my sketchbooks everywhere I go. I’d love to travel to a cool town somewhere and stay for a month, absorbing the life and atmosphere and painting everywhere.

I really enjoy these sit down talking videos! I love to hear about your process a bit more and these are great to put on while I’m crocheting or tidying up around the house

Wonderful! Thank you for sharing!!

Wonderful paintings from your trip! Thank you for sharing your time and your talent with us!! Whenever I’m stuck, I have this little pile of scrap watercolor paper that has been cut into small strips that are 3” x 1” and I will paint little miniature paintings on them. I really enjoy it and it helps get my creative juices flowing. Part of the creative process is coming up with what to paint… just today, I painted 2 ladies sitting having coffee at a table underneath a colorful umbrella, on one of them.

Beautiful sketchbooks! What amazing memories you have kept alive thru your work. Memories that will keep you enchanted for years! I heard you mention your sketchbook from your visit to Yellowstone Park. I grew up in Yellowstone Park and Glacier National Park and I would love to see your sketchbooks if you would be kind enough to share them with us. I am embarrassed to admit, that as a kid, I never appreciated the areas where I grew up. A busy city always was something I thought I would like. Boy was I wrong! I live in the midst of Ohio farmland and while it has a beauty all it’s own, I do miss the mountains, the towering pines, the flower filled meadows, and the crisp, crystal clear streams. I always thought I would have time to go back west again, but didn’t make it. Due to illness and disability, traveling is not possible for me. BUT, seeing others paintings, and practicing watercolors keeps me happy and fulfilled. So if you wish to share your Yellowstone Park sketchbook, I would love to see it!
