Here is your December paint my photo - from Lynn Morea- a coo and his fellow coos at the Von Trapp Family Lodge in VT!

I wanted to to go and see them personally after my Quebec workshop but could not fit it into my schedule- so lucky for Lynn to see them!! As you can see from the ref photo I omitted a couple to make the composition a bit cleaner. I hope you enjoy- the ref photo and trace are attached- ( highlighted words after supply list click on them)

enjoy !

I live in NZ and we had 28° (82F for you) the other day and I'm not inclined to paint winter scenes as we have been longing for summer to come. This guy will be my exception though, his eyes won me over. You are so talented Ellen, Thankyou Thankyou Merry Christmas Pam. Auckland NZ

Ok - I’ll admit I had to look up “coo”! Love this - so cute!

Sharon

I asked Seri, “What is a coo?”and she said, Chief Operating Officer!” He sure looks like one!

Lynne Morea

Such an amazing painting. Cant wait to paint my photo ❤️

Ellen Crimi-Trent

yay glad you like it- as you see I took out 2 coos I felt it would distract from the big guy!

I've been wanting to paint one of these for a long time! I do have a question about the horns in the reference. Is it just me, or does one horn (on the right of the picture) look like it is at a weird angle? Is it ok to adjust it so it looks like the other horn?

Ellen Crimi-Trent

The one on the right is foreshadowed because of the angel of the pic you can tweak it certainly!

I have been really enjoying your tutorials and have been doing many a second and third time to improve and to add my own spin. Adding trees using a gift card works well on the brown but the blue leaves the top of the tree blue. Do you have any suggestions for this technique?

Bonnie Grove

Mastering fur is hard! And I resorted to a little pen & ink. Thank you Ellen!

Ellen Crimi-Trent

if its slight blue its not a big deal esp if it generally looks lighter- do not worry about slight discoloration

Sharon Keener

Thank you so much for suggesting your photo! I love it!!

Lynne Morea

You are very welcome ❤️
