Here is a snippet of my thoughts on 2025- I did want to add more paintings I liked from retreats but thought the video would drag a bit I might do another video showing them.

I hope you have a Great New Year- I look forward to an amazing creative 2026!!!

My high for 2025 painting something that looks good. Lows- not being able to paint something simple like trees and being satisfied🤔

Vivian

Goal- be less critical

Marelf

Will stop hoarding art supplies and create more paintings with limited supplies. Stop obsessing about color mixes and just trust my own process. Wish you a wonderful and healthy 2026!

Cathy Knapp

goals: to continue watercolor painting progress and to draw more to develop those skills

Debra Ch.

My goal - to enjoy the learning process, keep trying despite the "fails", find my own style...just keep painting a little everyday to get better. I enjoy your tutorials so much bc of your sense of humor awa talent. Thank you and Happy New Year.

Debra

Ellen, Zoom classes would be awesome! Plan of focusing on me and time with me in 2026. Painting outdoors, after work and just trying uncomfortable paintings! Eat more veggies & exercise more too! Happy New Year all!

Suzanne Preece

I just love your practical attitude it helps me feel realistic and less pressured about learning water colour. My goal is to try to squeeze in learning to paint amongst the bustle of living with my son daughter in law and 2 grandsons whilst our house is reclad. Should take about a year. Your online lessons will be my mental retreat.

Susan Hanley

Find more time to paint and work specifically on painting florals.

Pamela Wilson

Ellen.. I wish there could be a modified retreat for those of us who have trouble walking so much in the villages. Maybe even an entire retreat for us ..Love your natural and down to earth vibe.

Debbie Winston

My goal this year is to try to paint more loosely. It’s a challenge for me. And I would also like to try to paint more with acrylics. Thanks, Ellen, for all your inspiration. Happy New Year!

Paula Freedman

Moving my brushes around more like you do and show us. The light touch you have intrigues me! Finding more confidence to paint things I see/photograph.

Marijke

I’m from Amsterdam and now live near Edmonton Alberta. 🇨🇦 love all your painting and teaching style. Happy new year! 😊🙏

Karla Butler

I really want to hone in on loose watercolor- always love the tutorials you make of that style. Thanks for your fun honest post- here’s to a creative 2026!!

Hi Ellen thank you for sharing your highs and lows. I loved your sketchbook paintings! My goal this year is to try to remember that I am learning to paint for the love of it and to be less critical of my work.

Susie Putnam

A goal is to paint more loosely and improve upon my art. I have come a long way but I still have so much more to learn. Thank you Ellen for all of your you tube and poatreon things to paint.

Pat

Goals: re-organize my studio, my art spot, paint more 8x10s, composition, I’m so comfortable with smaller paintings, do more journaling, paint outside… perfect painting water, skies & clouds soo much to paint.. can’t wait

Lisa Carnevale

Yes, please show us more paintings! The ones you did show are amazing! So very talented! My goal for this year with my paintings are to be more carefree and get out of my comfort zone!

Rebecca Mettert

My goals are to stop scrolling and paint more. Try to paint loosely although this is very hard for me, I would also like to get to the point where I feel more confident in doing YouTube videos in painting with Acrylic, Watercolor and Gouche. I would also like to get better at color mixing. Improving my skills. 😁

I’m going on a 12 day cruise on the world’s largest clipper ship (42 sales) from Lisbon through the straights of Gibraltar and ending up in Nice. It stops in very small ports where cruise ships don’t/can’t go - only 220 passengers, and I know about 35 of them. I’m doing urban sketching online courses, and watching all your stuff. I hope I’m able to draw and paint most of the towns we stop at. I picked up a pencil and brush for the first time in my life 13 months ago.

Patricia Trompeter

Ellen mentioned zoom classes as an alternative. I’m looking forward to that.

Ellen Moran

I want to be less afraid of using "the good" paper in my watercolor and to approach every tutorial with a "can do" attitude. Nothing should hold me back.

Heidi Martin

This is a great video. I agree with the pan watercolors not reactivating as well as the tubes.

Ellen Crimi-Trent

HI Pamela- sorry but retreats require walking and they are overseas but I have workshops that do not require walking- :) will be posting Maine on Jan 14th!

Princess

I like the idea of more tutorials on loose portraitures …sketchy faces etc….
