Thank you, I have been in a big slump for about 6 weeks. I need to get back at it. I find myself in these cycles quite often - paint like a madwoman, then nothing.

Mini gouache….postcards 4x6…bookmarks…mix media Monday…I like loose landscapes with focal points. What about small animals? Oddball animals like blue footed boobies on the rocks lol. Sorry I could go on and on. Do what makes you happy because that makes us happy. I’m glad your changing Mondays up change = growth. I’m excited to see what you come up with.

Perfect timing Ellen, I’ve had artist block for the last few days and it’s so frustrating. I’ve grown to realize that it’s all part of the process but it’s helpful to hear how others embrace it.

This video helped me a lot with strategies for those "what am I going to paint days?" I would like to see more of your whimsical paintings like the dragonfly and the mini winter house/scene you did on December 27, 2021.

Betty Ryan

Great drill, Ellen. I think I would like to create a notebook on just thumbnails. Thanks for helping us with ideas when we are having a block.

Lynne Morea

This was a fantastic helpful tutorial. I do enjoy the costal landscapes I think a tutorial on creating depth would be great. How you get objects to recede or come forward.

Karen Lin

Teaching how to doodle and sketch things out is really helping me practice how to draw and it's helping me connect with my 3 1/2 year old through art. She colors in my sketches. Thank you so much.

Laura Roberts

I really enjoyed your taking us through your thought process including the sketches and then the coastal paintings. I live near the coast in California and look forward to painting some of my favorite places. You're an excellent teacher!

This video helped me paint a nature's walk path with my cake pans. I was shocked and so proud of myself, thanks to this video...Thank You for your help!!! A current suggestion for a future video would be learning how to mix colors without relying on my 48 cake pan set. I learned from another video of yours which was to limit your color choices. So I tested a single color and mixed it with all other 47 pans of color. I learned a lot from that one study, but I am hoping not to have to do that with all 47 other colors as well. How to use the coloring wheel is confusing in practice. Thanks kindly for your time and all the effort behind the scenes. Many Hugs, have a lovely day.

Shana

100% agree!!!

Shana

That's a really clever idea, I hope you don't mind me stealing it, as it surely is a great idea for inspirations while out and about, without your paints.

Shana

Agree!!! It is such a challenge.

Betty Ryan

Glad you like the idea…I have some empty watercolor books and use one just for thumbnails.

Ellen Crimi-Trent

yes will do another video of just basic colors !!!!! good idea!
