The funniest and yet scariest thing about this that there’s really no way to kill a werewolf. I think silver was introduced within a novel just so they can have a weakness same with certain herbs.

An antique key would probably be made of iron, brass or bronze. A gold key would be too soft to use. Even assuming the gold color was actual gold, it would make sense that it was only plated. Yeah, I'm overanalyzing it... Excellent story though!

I think it's more common with Airbnb houses to make that upgrade, though, so they don't have to worry about lost or stolen keys. And it's easier to reset entry codes been guests.

I’m a pet sitter and I’d say about half my clients have keyless entries for their doors instead of traditional keys! I also have it, and it’s tied into my alarm system. We’ve had ours about 5 years, but I think it’s really just started becoming more common in the last 2, at least around here.

Most silver objects you can buy are generally not 100% silver, which is indeed very soft, but some sort of silver alloy, which is generally tougher. (That's what the 925 printed on silver objects stands for--92,5% silver and 7,5% Other.) It would be entirely possible, if a bit wasteful, to make a key out of that. My joking theory is that this key was originally made of nickel silver, which doesn't actually contain silver but the werewolf curse goes by exact words.

There's no way that a silver key was guilded with gold; nobody would make a gold key, it would be too fragile; gold is a noble metal and doesn't interact chemically with digestive fluids.

Gold Plated keys are ridiculously easy to get; fancy people unafraid to blow money would have keys made of both white and yellow gold, sometimes even gem-encrusted; silver is the #1 anti-werewolf thing and this beautiful thing called 'suspension of disbelief' could say that the silver ate through the gold magically because werewolf. :shrug: it's fantasy, bro, try enjoying something for once lol
