Was not expecting that ending. In fact I didn't even expect the parents to get involved bcoz most horror stories often have the horror moment conveniently not there when the parents arrived. And I didn't expect the face was taken out of the kid alive coz I was expecting them to find the brother's corpse, and I was expecting the brother to hold a grudge on him when he finds out he was the one to request seeing his face "one last time". I have been pleasantly surprised at every turn. Bravo, Adam!

Bewilderingly his face is as good as new. I assume it's Dillon who's the one transitioning. I was really hoping the clown was going to be a good guy in this one and just mistaken for being the one in the wrong. But honestly I think there's still hope given the context of how the clown ended up there for an unrelated kid's birthday party. I can only assume the idea here is he took kids after scoping out the house after a birthday party, but also Sara's mom didn't hire him so there's no reason the clown could've been in the backyard without going through the house unless he knew how to keep discreet with no one seeing him. So he couldn't have been there for Sara unless he was used to blending in and pretending to have been called and hired by a different parent or a friend of the family of one of the kids. But that would also imply he knew how to find houses to scope out for taking a kid later. Also I always love your art, but I gotta say the notebook with the writing really stuck with me with how clean and immersive it was. I wonder if Duncan's surgery helped Dillon feel better about any transition surgery she'll get in the future. There's room to surmise Duncan might be harboring trauma of the event and a serial killer to be, or you could assume the ritual was in fact finished and the goal was to split the Clown's psyche into a different child and the child into the clown. But honestly? I kind of want to fall in with the contradictions and focus on those. Something doesn't add up here, but it's so subtle that I would believe you if you told me the story was as it is on the surface. The only reason I wanna believe in the heart of the contradictions is because the clown really does just look like some guy trying to make peoples' day better. And clowns always get such a bad rap. It'd be nice if a clown was a good guy for once and doing their best to help prevent bad things from happening and using the clown as a means to stay anonymous while doing vigilante work.

Dang it, my comment deleted. I’ll rewrite it real quick. It’s rare for your horror stories to end happily, it makes the emotional impact land harder, I think, because the people involved are all alive to remember rather than perish to oblivion. I also like how you characterize the clown guy, as sort of desperate and sad. I honestly can’t tell if he was malicious or just callously pragmatic (Do X to get Y, even if X is awful and Y is illogical). It also helps that I was talking with someone the other day who made an au of a character as them being a performer (clown) with a habit of threatening to go “Killer clown” on people when frustrated.. I can’t unsee it now. Wonder if I should…. Send them… hm. 😈

Well the pictures on the wall show that Dillon was pulling an awkward "I am being forced to smile" smile and in the last picture she has a cute little natural smile where if you look fast you might not even notice. And Duncan seems like he's being grumpy because he has to take a school picture in the first picture of him but in the second picture he just looks like he's goofing off and being silly. They both look way happier and way more natural in the second picture. Probably helps that it isn't a staged school photo for sure. XD

Bruh, from the fact that he's wearing a Killer Klowns from Outer Space shirt I think he's loving all the attention. Like if it weren't for the actual events that took place in the story I think this would be Duncan's story that his entire friend group gets tired of hearing because he keeps bringing it up to anyone who will listen. I wouldn't even be surprised if he through in some Heath Ledger Joker and asked people "you wanna know how I got these scars?" if they were looking at him. Maybe he'd make shit up sometimes just to throw people off

While I believe the clown definitely killed those kids I also think that he wants to make people happy, I mean look at the little wave he did when he brought Dillon the balloon with Duncan's face on it. If it weren't for the additional context that scene would be kinda cute. But I figure while the clown might want to make people happy she has some sort of skewed way of seeing things which makes him do bad things to make people happy. Though I don't know if he just wanted to make Dillon happy or did he also want to make his victims happy? I dunno. Also, I mean, I don't think anyone would have batted an eye if a clown showed up at a kid's birthday party, he probably came in through the back gate too. And Sarah would really be the only one who knew he wasn't supposed to be there, so if she was inside preparing some food and the clown was in and out before she saw him that's entirely plausible. Like the only reason people would be suspicious is if Sarah mentioned she hated clowns or thought birthday entertainers were a scam or something, but chances are that wouldn't have happened.

The clown in this one is so interesting to me. Like it definitely seems like he's just mentally fucked. I don't think he was trying to lure the kid out - almost like he's like 'well I gotta for my Circle Ritual thing, but man, I should cheer this kid up since its my fault he's sad. I know!" << insane person logic. Which feels more like what happened given he smiles and waves (seemingly genuinely?) up at the kid and his dad despite having the other kids face on the balloon.
