Okay okay so I used to have a dark figure much like this only with yellow eyes in different shapes and forms that shared my room at night with me. It followed me all the way to college to where I just gave up and accepted that I have to coexist with it. Found out that I wasn't the only one after telling my (real life) ghost story at a party one night. The morning after I did more research and came up with these figures being the true etymology of the word "nightmare" a sleep demon that feeds off of people's energy while they're sleeping and in turn gifts you horrific visuals when you're energy is being drained. Crazy stuff y'all.

Nova Stewart

my thing with ghost stories has always been, thereisno way theyre all evil. I believe in the philosophy of absurdism not nihilism - as in everything is random, but necessarily everything is bad. So shouldn't there be neutral entities, good entities, etc too. That makes things less horror genre but i like to think that if these creatures were real, the odds that they are pure evil or something seems slim to me

Rhonda✨

Love this love everything about this. (This might sound weird but I also like how detailed the wallpaper is👍)

Ava

I had the same nightmare when i was a kid, but i was in my bed and the thing with red eyes was always in the hallway, never entering my room. Slept with my bedroom door closed ever since

Jerrica Lee

That is a terrifying nightmare!

Kath

i really love your horror stories ♥️ you always leave me craving for more

This reminds me of the thing that people see when they have sleep paralysis, just somehow even freakier

Ben Mallender-Berg

This reminds me of the feeling I get when I go up stairs in the dark. Dunno why just have to outrun the dark.

RayvenEyed

This was so good! The Crazy thing is, I have a memory of having a nightmare that there were three men with red eyes trying to break into the house and demanding me to let them in. 😖

SeekerOwl

You should do a book of horror shorts, they are so good! Though I'm sure you are busy with many other things.

Claire Kelly

Holy shit, this is terrifying. I felt my stomach drop when the eyes were up close. SO GOOD.

Manuela

Holy shit! This is so terrifying.

Keyo

*reads from under the duvet, where it's safe*

QueeryElf

Yup. Seen the same amorphous black fog in the shape of a man with red eyes before… last time it was at the foot of my bed…. Just watching…. waiting….

Michael Fernandez

There is a famous shadow person known as "The Hat Man." When I was younger I would see him outside when I would play. Just a shadow of a man with a top hat. When I finally got the internet I was on a site about ghost and someone has drew exactly what I saw when I was younger. It had a note that said" When I was younger I would see this, I'm 35 now." a few years later I was telling this story to a friend's boyfriend, he was like 6'7" and 400lbs. The color drained from his face and he got chills. Apparently his sister's snuck out one night and this shadow person was following them. When they snuck back into the window it said, "Next time your mine." fast forward on a deep dive, apparently it's a demon that targets children... Idk creepy, I know several people have seen him, friends and countless people on the internet.

Cyn·thi·a

Guess I'm never looking out a window at night again

Asteria Tsuki

I'm used to horror content, but for some reason the monster really made me uncomfortable, especially the one in the bed, you're so good at horror stories, sent shivers down my spine

Shawna Lee

“Many who experience sleep paralysis also experience hypnagogic hallucinations: vivid images perceived in the transition from wakefulness to sleep, or the other way around. Spiders or insects crawling up the walls is a particularly common such vision, according to Alon Avidan, a professor of neurology at the University of California Los Angeles and director of the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center. So are human-shaped figures. These episodes are often accompanied by a profound sense of fear and anxiety, and a sense that something is trying to harm the sleeper.” https://qz.com/quartzy/1444843/what-is-sleep-paralysis/

Mongoose

Dude, the shadow people. I definitely saw them when I was a kid. Still terrifies me, though I don't ever see them any more

Shane

Perfect for me to have read right before bed. 😅

Iben Kjøhl Bratlie

When I was 12 I was forced to stay with this relief family for a weekend, I was sleeping in one of the girls bedroom, on the floor in a sleeping bag. I woke up because I felt something at my feet and saw a black shadow figure with red eyes staring at me. I was so scared I pulled the sleeping bag over my head, but I don't remember when I fell asleep again, I just remember waking up the next morning and it was gone. A few years later I read articles about shadow men/people, usually with hats, and remembered back to the incident. Later, a couple of years again I discussed shadow people with friends and one of them asked if it had a hat and I said no, but it had red eyes. And she went pale and said "that's not good", I was perplexed and got really uneasy, and I still think of it sometimes. I just hope I never see it again.

Kit Foreman

So glad I waited to read this until I was turning in for the night :|

Scott Hutchinson

Isn’t that the truly scary part? That you can’t see them anymore?

Jenn R

Do i want to go down the rabbit hole of topics such as hat men and shadow people from the comments? Better now than bedtime... Delightfully creepy as ever Adam.

Kaleigh Sanio

I have a distinct memory of sleeping on the couch as a child (my bedroom was being painted and my parents were worried about fumes) and I saw a man in a top hat walk past the window! I just assumed he was a ghost but the top hat didn’t make sense for the area

Lulu

Devils advocate: what if the shadow people protect us from the real dangers of the night. They are misty realm-traveling entities which use their darkness to trap monsters and demons and send them to a different world. However, they can’t control which world a demon is sent to, so they must keep a constant eye on their assigned person to protect- just in case a monster appears. 👻

Mongoose

Uh, yeah. It wasn't until now. Thanks for the nightmare fuel, dude.

Starry

WHY'D I READ THIS RIGHT BEFORE BED?????

Chiara Neko

"Mom, when will I get my Red Eyes like Daddy and you?" 🤔

Claire Nurc

Well now I will never sleep again -___-

Anitra Pierce

nobody does this like you. well done, sir!

Shayla Oliver

This freaked me out. Two weeks ago my boyfriend and I saw a figure like this on the side of the road... no red eyes, but the body is eerily similar. Like we freaked out and can't logically explain it, but we both saw it and it was not a human or animal...

Taleea

This is terrifying but I need MORE

Hotaru

I wish I could draw and storytell my nightmares like you 😍

Colleen Rose

**nervous laughter** What the fuck?!? 😅😰

Fishcaek

THAT’S SOME NIGHTMARE

Danielle Yucht

I think this scary story has been the best with your style so far!! I’ve liked them all but it’s perfect as the retelling of a child nightmare

Liam Barnes

When I was young, my room was in the "elbow" of the hall. I would have my door open for the bathroom light, and i swear i would see a child-sized shadow running back and forth all night. Never told anyone about it, since I had once heard the sound of someone walking in the living room, and my parents just said I was dreaming. Years later as an adult, i was talking to my mom about the old house, and she mentioned that when she was in the hall bathroom at night, she would swear she could hear one of us running up and down the hall, but would open the door and it was empty.

*Repressed Trama unlocked* I saw a figure simlar to this in my childhood. I was on my lower bunk and couldn't sleep one night. This was absolutely odd for elementary school me. Unsure what to do, I decided lean my head all the way back to look out the window (we just spent the day moving the bed to the middle of the room.) Instead of seeing glorious downtown New York City, there is a giant dark figure with red eyes. I dart my head down like "No Way! That couldn't be real!" & "Well maybe it thinks im still sleeping and just moved!" I thought I was so smooth, so stealthy. I gathered my courage to look up again but this time, I was going to pretend to yawn to signify I was still sleeping (I was 7). So I sneak another peek and there is still was. Giant ruby red eyes and a shape simlar to donkey kong...Looking straight at me. I was freaking out (internally). So I had a decision to make, 1. Run out the room & leave my cousin to his doom 2. Stay in the room & leave it up to fate. (Waking everyone up was not an option cause either every would get killed by it or worst, imma get in trouble.) So weighing the options in my mind, also remember my cousin beat me in a game earlier that day, I run out to the living room. Luckily, my older sister fell asleep on the couch, probably from waiting daria. Throwing the blanket and myself on the floor under her, I ball up to feel protected. After a moment of feeling safe I peek out down the hallway. Big ruby eyes stare back. I pull the cover back accepting my death. ...I feel a heavy hit on my side. The safety blanket being ripped off me. "Oh! I'm sorry" the sunlight hits my face. I've survived the night. My sister continues to run off to the bathroom. I thought to myself maybe it was just a dream. But...I am literally in a different room. Definitely never told people about this, thanks for the kick in the brain. Ill be terrified tonight.

Nate

This is so good, I’ve had similar nightmares

Alyssa Cleveland

That was terrifying! I am so thrilled to finally read it!

Merja

Frightening 😳

Jeebus

o.o is all i have to say

Kim Morrison

not telling your kid that they're part bogeyman is just bad parenting.

Safa Alabedy

I actually thought this was kinda cute. How his mom is a creature that watches over him at night while he sleeps. I felt like she is protecting him from other monsters ♥️♥️

Valorhammer

That was just his mom's booty call wasn't it?

Brandy White

This scares the piss out of me. Glad I'm reading all of these at 2am hahaha
