You've washed ashore, unconscious but breathing, draped over what's left of your boat, when a gentle siren discovers you. She sings to you softly and combs the salt out of your hair with seashells, awaiting your awakening.

Inspired by one of my favorite scenes from The Little Mermaid (2023)

Hi guys! Super out of nowhere, I know. @Ethan dropped this request under a blooper reel last month, and my first instinct was to politely decline. But then I decided to take a risk.

I think it's important for artists to take risks sometimes.

I love to sing and have been (loosely) studying proper singing techniques for a few years. For me, singing is a way to release energy, a form of expression. (Most of my hobbies are forms of expression, aren't they?) I've always wanted to be able to beautifully and healthily release without notes getting caught in my throat or in my nose or behind my soft palette. When I sing properly, it feels natural and seamless.

But it's hard. Singing is one of the most difficult skills that I've ever learned, and there is always room for improvement. And like many other [perfectionist] amateur singers, I'm not very confident about my singing voice, so fulfilling this request was scary.

I cut out a ton, but I'm proud to have posted the audio at all. It feels daring! I hope that you enjoy this little glimpse of my singing voice, and stay tuned for a full-length request soon!
