⛔️ IF YOU USUALLY JUST WATCH MY MUSIC STUFF PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION ⛔️

This is honestly more than a horror movie. It is easily the most disturbing thing I have ever laid my eyes on. So please... if you have not seen this movie yet... be careful. This is your warning.

i wish i could pin comments here because this would be it lol i reallllllly don't want an unsuspecting viewer to waltz into this with no prior knowledge 😭

S.N

Florence Pugh is simply incredible.

Justus Kerstin

i do not enjoy horror movies, like AT ALL, so i’m not gonna watch this but you being this distraught got me curious so i read the synopsis online. and yeah, already sounds really disturbing🙃still watched the intro, the last like 5 minutes and one other scene though and decided that was enough for me. so sorry you had to go through that 💀

I originally joined because of the music reactions. Melanie Martinez cry baby was what brought me here.

ThatNorwegianGuy

Pop the champagne 🥂🍾 this is about to be a good time 😂🫠😱

>>102571223

well… 💀 without context, that little bit of the last scene, was… tolerable enough?!.!.?.? but when i saw that literal “face crack” at the cliff i decided to leave🥴😂 for someone who dislikes this genre very much i do seem to sometimes test my limits because i’m too curious 💀

Mark

when you posted that teaser/plea on IG stories, i had a feeling it was gonna be this one LMAO

Liuzetz

OMG YES hHHAHAHA Sorry but I'm too excited for this one

Patryk Walenczak

Watching horror movies with you is the best activity ever

Teuntje

Omg I am both so sorry you had to watch this and at the same time I enjoyed you're reactions lmao, cause damn this movie is just one disturbing thing after the other.

That stunned silence during the end credits speaks for itself. Midsommar will always have a special place in my heart due to the circumstances around the time I saw it. Seeing the movie in theaters was an amazing experience which I will always treasure. I couldn't really comprehend what I witnessed so I brought a friend the next week to watch it with me in cinemas again. Not that you would want to (we promise we do love you... we just have a funny way of showing it by making you watch this) but it actually pays to watch the movie multiple times and picking up on different threads and hidden stuff, especially watching the Extended Cut too. For instance, did editing Caitlin notice the flowers on Dani's costume are breathing? Also, did you spy her sisters face hidden in the trees when they are carrying her on the platform? There are also nods to multiple real life cults such as Heaven's Gate when Josh wears sneakers in bed to name one. I could talk about this movie for days and the impact it had on me. To answer a question, the movie was written and directed by Ari Aster after a recent breakup he had. It's probably been suggested multiple times at this point but I do recommend Hereditary by the same director. I promise it is not as graphically intense as Midsommar but still is equally disturbing in a more emotional way. However I'm not that cruel I will suggest a more lighthearted suggestion too. I highly recomend you check out Dead Silence by James Wan. It's a spooky little gem which I think you'll love. To say too much will be spoiling it so I shall remain *cough* silent...

amanda

OH MY GOD I KNEW IT 😭 i’ve only ever watched this through edited commentaries/reactions. maybe i should watch the full thing for the first time with u 😳

Casper Henriksson

Loved this Caitlin! "Midsommar" is the Swedish word for Midsummer. As a Swede myself, I love the movie but I was always bothered by the fact it was actually filmed in Hungary! The nature does not look like Sweden to me haha.

Casper Henriksson

You should watch "Hereditary", I believe that it is made by the same person, Ari Aster.

Captain Astro

btw would love a reaction to dont worry darling!<3

Mark
>>102574117

seeing a lot of suggestions to watch Hereditary (also written & directed by Ari Aster), and i'll just tell you now: don't

Aodhan 🇮🇪

This and hereditary are the 2 most disturbing horror movies of all time no doubt, u sgould totally watch hereditary next!

Jenna

this is one of those movies that once you see it you can never unsee it. florence pugh killed this role tho even though it was incredibly disturbing

Jacob S.

I think one of the things that makes this movie so disturbing is that it takes place in the broad daylight 95% of the time, and we're so used to overused horror cliches.

asha

i didnt even finish watching the reaction but i have to comment how much i hate that piece of shit boyfriend im sorry like he IRRITATES me so bad

Makenna

i cannot believe this is real and posted omg

Orin Reyes

I had to go away in my head for a while on this one

Liuzetz

I love how your facial expression did a complete 180 in less than 10 minutes of this movie haha You were like Oh, Disney music, this is happy to omfg what hell have I put myself into?

Remillie

omg i never saw it until now, but in 1:30:45 his 'juice' is so much darker than the other ones!!! like the painting, in the 'love story', that shows the girl cutting her pubic hair and putting it in the pie, and peeing in the cup, like.... EW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate this movie so much

ThatNorwegianGuy

That was wild. Can’t believe the journey you went on going through this movie. I felt bad for laughing sometimes. Hope you’re ok now 🐈

KatlaTheKat

Oh gosh the falling off of the rocks scene still scars me. Also Midsommar is a real festival in Sweden. Just a little fun fact from a person that lives in a Nordic country in Europe.

Raj Hudek

I had a busy week but was totally stoked to see you had my second favorite Ari Aster movie uploaded and reacted to on here! I kept trying to find time to watch this all week, but alas, I had to wait till the weekend arrived. I can see this disturbed you, but I think it does disturb everyone who watches it. Being disturbed is the twisted appeal only appreciated by true horror fans. There is a ton of symbolism in this and connected symbolism in his other acclaimed film "Hereditary." Of the two, that is the movie I would highly recommend. But Aster's signature visual style, unnerving score and exploration of grief, family dysfunction and mental illness are even more prevalent in that film. I hope we'll get a reaction to that as well! He said after Hereditary and Midsomar he was done with horror but his new movie Beau is Afraid is supposed to be a horror comedy, but I digress. Great reaction. I look forward to the next one!

J Ramos

May i suggest Tucker and Dale vs Evil?

Keely

I was waiting for you to make a Folklore reference in the opening forest shots

Sarah Lou

I hope you're ok caitlin! I don't know how useful this will be (i find the site very clunky to use and it can be a bit spoilery) but there is a website called doesthedogdie.com where you can find trigger warnings for movies if you want or need to vet things beforehand

Jade Hunter

The cliff scene traumatized me in a way I was not prepared for

Amy Dewsnap

I’m disturbed that I didn’t find the movie as disturbing as I thought it would be. Maybe I need help 😂

Henri J. Mertens

“How old are they??”. I thought the same thing too, the actress looks 15, so the scenes near the end were super uncomfortable to watch

Caleb
>>103004460

Her character is actually 15 in the movie, the actress was 20 when the movie was filmed

Caleb

Love this movie but didn't like Hereditary, Ari Aster's next movie does look interesting. Not sure if it's horror though.

alex

midsommar is a crazy incredible disturbing great phsycological movie. i loved it.

alex
>>103004460

shes 25 and hes 31 so really not much of an age gap there. she just looks much younger, but she isn't.

alex

you should react to unfriended ; the dark web ! it's one of my fav movies and since you watched host i thought maybe it'd be a good movie if you liked host! its kind of the same vibe

Henri J. Mertens
>>103004460

Still doesn’t take away the ick factor on first viewing. Since the director purposefully chose a 20 year old actress that looks 14-15. But I’m glad the director didn’t pull an American Beauty situation like they did with Thora Birch

Nika

i so enjoyed watching this with you. me and you had the exact same reactions 😂i love watching movies with you 💗 thank you for watching this and also im sorry

Rania

I'm so sorry you had to go through that haha, the whole movie just gives me off-vibes. After you've recovered from this you should check out Hereditary, it's from the same producer and it's quite special as well. It is really, really good though in my opinion and the acting is on point.

Yeattsie

So, I just realized during this video - the very first scene with the parents showed they were dead! The old-style phone rang enough to go to the answering machine - if they weren't already dead, the phone would have woken them up. This is about the 5th time I've watched this movie, and I never noticed until watching it (again) with you!

Meghan Blust

Thank you for watching it with me though, I had been told by other horror fans I had to see it and I'd been putting it off, but watching with you made it more bearable. Sorry you had a bad time <3

Em McG

your warning actually made me pick this movie, I was trying to decide what to see tonight. I remember watching this in the theater. I have a story, so I was on a movie-going kick at the time, I would go with friends but I'd go alone too. The movies on weekdays were cheaper and not that many people would show up at those times. My friend was supposed to come with me but she couldn't make it so I walked in by myself. Suddenly I knew there was something different. It was practically a full house, there shouldn't be this many people attending at this show time. Not just that but they were all beautiful people. A lot of young couples, well off couples. I would jokingly say later that I felt like I had stumbled into a cult. I didn't know but the director's last movie was a big hit, or underground hit or something and so this was the new movie, it was just released and everyone turned out for it. I think that at the time I didn't understand what was happening in the movie although a few things were obvious - but this time around I understood it much better. I mean wow it's actually an amazing film. Bonkers yes. I didn't understand a lot of it at the first viewing because shock. It seems so insane but it makes perfect sense... in its own way. For example I did not realize before that there were to be 9 sacrifices and that actually explained a lot of things... or put the events into context. Loved the reaction! I actually watched 3 reactions simultaneously. It's also a long movie, yes? I want to watch more reactors, I'll have to search. I've seen edited reactions before but this was only the 2nd time I watched it all the way through since 2019. I regret watching it on a small screen because those flowers you know, you need high definition... for the full effect.

David Kramme

I hadn't seen this since the theater as Hereditary was insanely impressive, I liked at the time but honestly watching with you for the second time I loved it, it's a rough watch but I appreciate you fighting through, and your early thoughts on shot composition and transitions was really thoughtful, love or hate this movie Ari Aster is a master level director and btw I would skip Beau is Afraid, like 3 hours of anxiety and dread with no pay off.

Ninja Bear

I know this comment is late in the scheme of things, but if this is the type of movie you can't handle, you shouldn't make polls where a movie like this can be chosen. Ari Aster wouldn't have to research long or hard to find worse things in many cultures or cults. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this film as many probably had wished. I would suggest you avoid Hereditary as according Aster they may be called sister films.

Nick Rosner

Caitlyn, you have to look at the movie 🥲

Keiron Laer

I was dying laughing at the fact you chose not to look only to look back at the worst times 😭

LexJordan
>>106484745

If you look close you can see them breathing. IIRC the director confirmed that as well but I could be wrong

Jill Norris

This is not the movie to try and not hate the men.

Niqua

This movie is an assault on the senses regardless of your background. Where as I found the gore FX more impressive (wow, they pulled that off well) the intro scene with the wailing chilled me to the bone; that was rough! I watched this movie alone upon first viewing and more than anything, I found it bizzare. "Ok, I saw that and don't need to see it again." But then Caitlin put out this react video... I actually felt bad for her at times but when she went through the full 5 stages of grief and finally came to acceptance; Christian added to the blood line and I could have sworn I saw smoke rising above Caitlin's head....and then almost every scene just ramped up the disturbing and bizzare factor from then on. X D Ari is an absolute craftsman and I respect his talent but I can't say I've actually enjoyed his work.

Miche

Caitlin I'm so sorry you had to watch this mess! I agree you can't even unsee those horrible images. 😔

Flynn-Matthew Henry

I can never make it through this because it’s crazy long so I’m here for the company 😂❤️

Iggy 5150

Ari Aster is a master of his craft. His storytelling vision is truly a treat to behold. I've enjoyed all his films.

BRADLEY CARTER

You missed the part where Dani is being carried away as the May Queen, and her sister with the hose in her mouth is in the trees. It's at 1:51:48

La Toya Sheri

This movie was very creepy and interesting. It was def different and I never seen a horror movie like this. I've been watching horror since I was maybe 7 or 8 usually slasher but this was def diff. I did enjoy it tho.

Angel Classified

yes you are the crazy one death is absolutely less horrific than being deaf and blind in a nursing home bed every day for years before you eventually die in pain- the mallet was insane, but he didn’t die from the fall so they had to end his misery or there was no point in him jumping

Natas Krad

-=listens to opening warning... moves closer to the screen and turns out the lights=-
