In Willow I love that it could be the name of a girl she knows, but the tree is also called a weeping willow so the tree itself is named after something that’s sad by nature. Which I think it’s really cool

It’s genius honestly. Weeping willows got their name because when it rains the way the water runs down the hanging branches make it look like the tree is crying. In a lot of cultures it’s associated with grief and loss a lot of the time! So there’s lots of layers to that concept I think! It could be a girl names willow, she could be comparing the girl to the weeping willow, she could be the weeping willow since she feels like her nature a lot of the time is “sad or depressing”. Lots of cool layers for a simple song! Also coming right after I Wish really leans into the grief factor, and before 23 kind of shifts to her own self loathing
