This is the bravest and realest thing i have ever seen in a comic strip. I feel so connected and drawn in, even though i'm a straight asian woman with a "tiger mom". And personally, i think with a toxic parent like this mom here, just aim to manage her needs in her old age as duty but no more emotional investments beyond that. She cannot adapt, and you need to protectbthe family you made now.

these are tough discussions and it is hard to be 'heard' when there is so much history underlying the issues. good luck, but realize rapprochement will take a long-haul approach to communication with your mom.
