Oh heavens. The new owners of our establishment kept it open for precisely one year then closed it for "medical reasons" rather than fire us staff members outright. Then they re-opened with all new people later.

I think it's very telling when our first thought is something terrible is going to happen, especially when paperwork is forgotten. I actually had the opposite happen to me. I signed the paperwork only for them to tell me oops, the positions were already filled! I had already quit my job because the transition was going to be flawless, but I got shafted in the end. You never know what's going to happen. (Also glad to be back as a supporter <3)
