you "only" went behind his back and disrespected his wish for YOUR wish and pleasure...family or not, it's not normal. even in a married couple.

It's a sad thing, and a necessary one. It's even harder, and more necessary, when it's blood.

I've been through it to a large degree. The grandma in our case wasn't sweet and sad. She was angry and yelled back at us. This just hits so close to home. Really love this strip!

Honestly it's much easier to deal with dysfunctional people when they're angry and disrespectful, you can just cut them out. It's when people just don't know any better and haven't learned that dysfunctional behavior isn't "normal" or acceptable and just carry on the tradition. That makes a tough problem even tougher because you know they're good people who mean well, but were never taught how respect works or suffer from low self esteem to believe they deserve better.

Its always tough dealing with a dysfunctional family. Especially with someone who you've trusted as a parent/guardiam/father figure/etc that shattered that trust.

*sigh* I'm glad that it appears that AJ is okay. I'm still in shock, I can't believe your mum would do such a thing! It appears that she genuinely doesn't understand what she did is wrong and that's so odd. What do you even do in a situation like this?!
