Oh my goodness, it is with with glee I get to finally bring you the Femboy PMV project in "completion!"Watch here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15pBJQS7qGLXMUhkbeTT-9ejDGAzDAvqX/view?usp=sharing
It's 5 months late on my own personal schedule and goals for 2024, but I feel like it's been marinating nicely in my brain and the final project reflects that. I still have the credits to create, plus an easy post credits using the stack of un-used footage (and to round it up to 7 minutes for ad rev on PH reasons).
But while you enjoy that, I just wanted to take time to talk and reflect on working on this project and talk a bit about the delay, and this is by no means an invitation to a pity party, but evidence of my self reflection to those of you who care about our work most, plus planning on avoiding these problems again in the future! So here goes... Unplanned rambling...
This project first spawned in my brain from the Chloe mini PMV last year, which was also a "failed" project, failed from it's initial vision, but it sparked this interest, which reflects what kind of media I was also consuming, shoutout to NoodleDude. I felt like the return of the PMV was the perfect match for SL Machinima, and kind of how we got our roots, so thus I embarked on this project!
I had also realized I hadn't made anything homoerotic in a while and femboys were kind making a resurgence so that locked in the project.
I headed into this with confidence, quick turnaround, easy shots, i already learned a lot from my accidental mini PMV, I know what I had to film!
I tucked away a couple shoots, life got in the way, but I knew I had it there ready to edit, but I knew perhaps I needed to record more. I don't know if anyone else here suffers from executive dysfunction but its remarkable what roadblocks stop you from starting the next phase of a project, and turns out being in limbo between not finished filming and needing to start editing to find out what I needed to film was a massive roadblock that presented itself by diving into other projects, and constantly delaying finishing this.
Of course now I know this could have been avoided if I had selected my song first and planned the structure more instead of going freehand with my filming, which I learned after I had done my first edit and wrote myself a clear shotlist that guided me here!
But yes, the first edit, things looked well but gaps were large, and the remaining shots I needed to grab was much longer than expected. I had internally feared this was the case, if you went and counted how many unique shots are you your usual quality PMV its probably in the 100s, but I had probably about 40. Ah dear. But alas, it was coming together well and we just needed to make one last push! I had sworn myself to stop working on any other medium/large project until this was complete (yes sorry those sharp on dates will notice ive pushed back releasing the DD toy to sprint this to finish).
So, reshoots booked, shotlist written, hours spent, and bam the final product here for you to enjoy!
I've learned a lot of other minor things that will inform my process for the e-girl PMV later in the year (not next, I think I need to return to something narrative after this) so I'm very excited to work on that SOON.
So, the final takeaway for any other creatives reading this? Progress is always progress, if things seem too big always try breaking it down into smaller steps, you can never plan too much, and the final product doesn't have to be perfect, but you just need to have learned enough to know your next project will be even better, and if you feel stuck in new ways, take the time to examine why and figure yourself out! Yeah I know right? Easy! <3No really, thank you for all your support, patience, and enjoyment for what we do, seriously, I never get over how thankful I am to all of you for giving me the ability to create!!!!!!!!!!!!- Pancake
