FULL YAP:

So a few weeks ago, I find myself sat in front of my backlog again, tasked with queueing it to the various places I vented about in my update video, and I just. Couldn't! I've lost any sense of identity or community or connection, and I just couldn't spur myself to post. But facing that wall, I thought, what else can I do? What's something we haven't tried before? Is there anything at all that can satisfy my requirements? What I landed on was an archival focused h*rny Discord channel!

To run through it quickly:Bluesky: Weak userbase, questionable management, barebones video support, lack of people's archives despite our best efforts, so you can't enjoy an artist's complete creative history, it might be big one day, its one of the best alternatives still right now, but its just lacking for artists.Twitter: I don't need to say much, somehow it still stands as one of the most active platforms, but it's overrun by bots, deeply driven in AI, led and owned by a maniac, and heavily algorithm basedFA: No video support, uncertain futureE621: Not allowedFlickr: No longer adult friendlyTelegram: It's fine, somehow one of the best platforms, but feels like hosting your content on some weird barge in the middle of no where, plus it's overrun now with crypto and AI and bots.P*rnhub: Not really animator friendly, completely overrun with administration approvals to just get videos to stay up, constant purges.Other P*rn Sites: Uncertain futures, suffers from geoblocking

Now, it's without question that Discord has it's own faults and issues, plenty, but it offers an easy place for creators to dump their archives, and have it easy to browse when it's late at night~ It also offers basic organization so each creator can have their own space. Discord leadership and it's future seems to be firm as well, becoming a backbone of the gaming community for the foreseeable future.

Everyone here knows I've not really had a lot to do with Discord, and I've historically struggled with engaging with it, but I'm taking steps to address that with this launch as well, as I'm also seeking a renewed sense of community!

As you'll see when you join the server, there is only one global chat, this is completely a selfish decision on me that I will adjust on in the future if needed, but I personally cannot keep up with multiple channels about a variety of things, the server has one clear focus, celebrating and enjoying SL p*rn, I'm really betting on us being able to share that space together!

I'll also be leaving/hiding every other Discord channel, and just using Discord exclusively for the new CatScratch Discord.

I guess I should probably call it by it's name! "SLY Repository". The SLY stands for Second Life Yiff, and Repository since it's where we'll all be dumping our content, but also sounds like something else :3c I didn't wanna just call it the "Second Life P*rn Archive", wanted to give bit of an identity and catchy name, but we'll see if that pans out!

So what else of my work will this effect? Well, I have a really good feeling this will be a cure for my creative block of posting. Posting, by its nature, has been such a chore. Timing things just right, spreading posts out, planning ahead, it's stuff I've really struggled to juggle as my life has gotten busier/social media options have evaporated.

Visually what it will be like to post in this Discord brings me a lot of peace. I'll just be dropping things in as soon as I'm done with it, when the hype of finishing something is high. Won't have to care about followers, numbers, how the algo is feeling that day. It brings me peace knowing the things I create will get seen by the people that want it!

Discord will be the only platform I will be personally posting to (and Patreon), and I will be handing back over my other platforms to my awesome social media manager who helps keep my presence and work alive on other platforms for those who don't exist on my personal favorite platform!

So why haven't we done this sooner? Well I think most people can only really focus on one social media platform as their main, and support others if they have the capacity. Twitter offered a very complete package for a long time, which reduced the demand for an idea like this to happen, it's why version 1.0 and 2.0 of the Discord was neglected, there because we could/should/maybe something will happen, but it never had a clear purpose when we were all focused on Twitter. Historically as well, putting effort into a Discord felt like it wouldn't offer growth, not like other platforms did, so that further pushed it down the list. I also didn't feel like people needed a different platform as a user/enjoyer, we could log onto Twitter and goon away, but now there's not so many folks on Bluesky, not so many on Twitter, not so many on Telegram, and it feels all scattered. But again, as I said above, there's no reason for people to come, it's all scattered and shattered. So again, it brought me back to this not original idea at all about making a community Discord, archived and focused on the creations.

So, any final comments? Please, just enjoy the space c: and remember it is absolutely a privilege to be in the Discord and have access to the works. I don't want to force positivity 24/7, its not the world we live in right now, but I want folks to choose it when they can, to support and be kind to each other, to foster an environment where creatives want to create. I don't want to see harassment, begging, and ungrateful behavior.

What else could you do? Please, if you think this space has potential, share the word with those who enjoy this kind of content c: share the word with other creators, I didn't want to bite off more than I could chew with this launch, promise more than would end up being delivered, so, please. My DMs are open, and I'm excited to hear from other creators who want to join in on this archival process, celebrating all the works we've created the last decade, working together to spill as much c*m as possible :3c

P.S. Thanks again for your patience, I am booking myself the entire of November off from my day job to recover, work on myself, and work on SL projects. Now that we're launching the "cure" to my pains with social media, I expect to jump straight in. Knowing I can upload and post something as soon as I'm finished with it, is going to be a huge difference and perfect timing hopefully.

Look after yourself, and see you at the new Discord!
