But as we continue on the theme of accessing the divine love of god…I couldn’t help but think this would be appropriate.

Many of you are undoubtedly familiar with Alan Watts. Even if you are, this beautiful video matching his words is worth watching.

Love to you all!

Wow. I love this. We so often look to other people and things external to us - thinking that these will make us “happy.” In the end, it’s that within us that divines our happiness - if we have the wherewithal to recognize it and, bravely, embrace it.

Thank you for this, Kae. I am not familiar with Alan Watts, but will certainly change that! Most of these words resonate with me. The first-level challenge is to work with the notion that I'd dream the life I'm living after "close shaves" (pardon me if I'm not paraphrasing correctly). From either a detached or positive perspective, absolutely yes. From a depressive, anxious, PTSD-driven perspective, no - especially when some of the close shaves birthed the PTSD. This dichotomy helps me to push through the negativistic haze and see my life from a more objective perspective. Even on one of my worst days, many people around the world would wish for my life - shelter, food, safety, good physical health, love, and many other privileges. The words in this teaching prompt me to do what I remind myself to do often - to count my blessings as a way to readjust my lens of self-perception. This is a cognitive tool for helping myself to feel better about what is wonderful in my life rather than what is lacking. Focusing on what is lacking is both the food for, and the offal of, the negative mental health processes which color far too much of my time. So I gather tools, reach out for help, gather more tools, and push toward a healthier state of being. Thanks for reigniting this analysis for me. I could be more coherent were I not so tired. 🙏 Blessings and love. Namaste.

Thank you Jim and Alec.. we are all truly companions on this journey! ❤️❤️

We are indeed, and thoughtful companions are the most helpful kind. Craig, is that a parrotlet in your hand? I have many small pet birds. They provide an oasis of calm for me. I have cats and dogs too, along with my 3 goldfish saved from a feeder tank. I was born loving animals of all kinds.

Wow, Alec a fellow birder… how exciting!! Yes she is a parrotlet!! Her name is Molly and she’ll be 9 in October. I am afraid she is spoiled silly; when she has out of cage time, she behaves like a cat or dog in that she won’t let me out of her sight!! You are so right and beautifully stated, Alec, they do provide an oasis of calm, peace and unconditional love!! We can learn so much from our pets. Bless you for giving a safe and loving home for all of them!! 🙏❤️❤️🤗 (ps: what breeds of birds are in your flock?)
