Peak is arriving!

Degenerick

Carson you are legally obligated to watch ALL of the “The One Piece is REAL” memes now

Degenerick

CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER?? SO HIGH!

Whoopsie

Most bad ass death ever

Artemis

Well it took 485 episodes boldcast, but you finally witnessed one of the most historical moments in this series and even got a deeper clue as to what "one piece" is. Interesting that this entire saga opened up with the question "is one piece real?" And now, we have Whitebeard who makes a decleration that its real.

ignorantWeed

One of the greatest anime episodes

Hendra

Blackbeard is the definition of the real pirate and love him as a villain

Jim Nasium

72 year old WhiteBeard, already sick yet he joined this war and you saw what he is capable of. Oda pretty much set the bar here on how powerful an Emperor is and he isn't even in top heathly condition/Prime. So you should now have an idea how powerful the other 3 Emperors are.

Keziah

THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!!

Oussama Essamadi

Shut up Lindsay you didn't have to ruin it for us lmaoo "Carying hundreds of years of history on his shoulders" this line always sends chills down my spine man. The One Piece Is Real!

BTImelesS

Whitebeard's speech is one of my favorites. Not only by inspiring the world to continue to look for the One Piece and freedom, but his appreciation about what his treasure was, his family. He's my goat.

SomeoneElse

Luffy and Blackbeard are a coinflip apart. A bunch of times during this saga, neither of them would have been able to progress if the other had not done their own thing. It's a really cool dynamic I really like that Blackbeard is not some genius mastermind but just some reasonably smart power hungry pirate with a good plan. He gets in over his head sometimes and takes a few hits. It humanises him which I think is really cool. I've seen enough Bleach Naruto with their perfect god-like villains who have everything planned out since episode 1. They were cool, I liked them a lot, but I think the cliche-ness of that would have done more harm than good for me in One Piece. I'm glad this story is doing its own thing. Its refreshing.

Tate Wheatley

I like that Blackbeard gets knocked around from anyone he picks a fight with. Like his fruit made him take more damage and more pain than before he ate it, it made him physically 'weaker' by comparison. So maybe he was used to being able to eat attacks like cherry pies before he got the power and now he overestimates his durability.

Sanji Joestar

Couldn't agree more regarding Blackbeard Making him fallible truly elevates his character. He's got the smarts but also the freestyle. Luffy didn't know what he'd expect when he went in Impel Down, he still pulled it off. His arrogance and recklessness especially when he thinks he got the upper hand being his weaknesses makes it so satisfying. When he targeted Luffy he didn't know he was related to Ace, he failed to capture him and laughed it off. Targeted him again and instead got Ace this time. Wasn't his intent but definitely created a war that would benefit him. Even his invasion of Impel down is facilitated by the Navy's focus on the incoming battle. And he almost died meeting Magellan lmao. The dynamic between our main protagonist and him keeps subtly ramping up!!!

Kittyslayr

This episode always makes me want to get the whitebeard back tattoo lmao

Sanji Joestar

Here's the transcript of Whitebeard's speech in the manga for comaprison. '' The man Roger is waiting for is definitely not you, Teach. Just as there are some who inherited Roger's will, someone will eventually do the same for Ace. You can sever bloodlines, but their flames will never be extinguished. It has been passed down like that since ancient times! Someday one will arise who will challenge the world and shoulder centuries of history. Sengoku, you and the World Government fear the great war that will come to this world one day! I'm not interested in the treasure, but when it's found, the whole world will be turned upside down! Someone will find it. That day will come. THE ONE PIECE DOES EXIST! "

Sanji Joestar

Died standing The mark of a real legend !

Cash driver

blackbeard did lose to magellen on purpose so that he didnt have to fight him without his full crew

Sanji Joestar

The line at the end would be more accurately translated as ' Neither that mighty body nor his pirate's pride suffered one " coward's wound " ! ' As we see his back tattoo with swords piercing through from the front.

Artemis

exactly why I say CR has so many mistranslations. I also checked your information with some of the fansub episodes I have and its nearly word for word. Why is it that fan translated groups were able to be more accurate and authentic to the Japanese manga, but officials cannot. Historic moments like these need an accurate interpretation so boldcast can understand exactly what is spoken since it’s such an important line. so, thanks for posting.

CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER

Killer

In the managa you could see the swords that went through him on his back

Sanji Joestar

From his reaction when meeting Shiryu he didn't know who Magellan was, nor his powers He was just that confident and faithful to his fate and luck. Supported by his conversation with his crew when Shiryu saved them.

Zoodinger

This was my most anticipated reaction, at least for this arc. A lot more than the reveal of Ace being Roger's son or Ace's death. One of the best episodes made ever and not just in One Piece. A small note about Whitebeard's back, he might be shown with no scars there but he still didn't receive one directly from the back and, like the narrator says, not from running away. And let me just say Whitebeard's VA absolutely killed it this arc. What an amazing performance. His epic speech at the end deserved no less.

Sanji Joestar

Luffy being unconscious while Whitebeard proclaims that the One Piece is real fits kinda right Even tho he isn't like Rayleigh (one of the few who went there), I bet he'd rather not want to hear it.

slowchem

The Narrator was talking about Whitebeard's back scar throughout of his career "...there is no scar that he got while running away!" so technically, Squard's stab wasn't counted nor even a scar yet 😅

RDK

22:08 Tobey Maguire crying into laughing meme fits so well here its crazy

UsoppEnjoyer

The thing about Blackbeard is he feels the most like a traditional pirate to me. He’s a backstabbing scoundrel who doesn’t take pride or honor into account to get what he wants. And that makes him the perfect foil for Luffy because both characters are about freedom, but they approach it in drastically different ways.

UltimaJosh

Disregard Squards sword WB is a bad ass!!! Lmao

Mubarak Ali

Everyone is a child of the sea 🌊

incinə

I think this is headcannon because he didn’t even know about the venom fruit.

UltimaJosh

All this D talk 😳

Isaac Sato

So, in Japanese Whitebeard said 'センゴク... おまえ達 世界政府 は... いつか 来る... その 世界中 を 巻き込む 程 の "巨大な戦い" を 恐てれいる.' I put the entire thing there so people can throw it into Google Translate. The translation there is a little dry, but yeah, as you suspected there's no mention of it happening in a single day. It's just a massive battle that will happen "one day". Just more shoddy localization.

UltimaJosh

Edwar D Newgate yup real and true also Buggy D Clown 🙂‍↕️ yup real and true haha

ONE PIECE WAH!!!!!!!!!

Hoid

There is a Roger quote that says ,, the tides of time, people's dreams, inherited will, these things cannot be stopped" which is probably one of the most important sentences in this show. You guys are spot on in your analysis on what is important here

Artemis

Blackbeard is a cunning tactical strategist who manipulates and cheats to win. He doesn’t care about the pride of a pirate; he doesn’t care about fairness. In fact, there is a line with Blackbeard in the early story during alabasta where he says “If you're aiming for the top, you don't always need your fists to show your might” All of his actions in the story up to this point embodies that message. Blackbeard follows the ideals and philosophy of a famious quote “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.” Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Arkham

I never noticed the feather falling when Whitebeard passed with another falling on Luffy. Symbolizing his will passing on?

Domi No

Love the blackbeard discussion sometimes he is a genius schemer, then he's stupid and arrogant and then again scared shitless. Its almost as if he has multiple personalities ;)

Cola

It's actually sad that the only Scar that would have formed on his back would've been from his own son betraying him, his family.

2026-09-03 02:00 in the manga, whitebeard still had swords piercing through his body when it showed his back, and the original translation is more about receiving a cowards wound of running away, which he never did

Artemis

no, they are not... Don't ruin art with modern social media meme culture and political satire. It’s juvenile and quite frankly I think it’s a byproduct of how smooth brained this generation really is.

Mo

Also he looks 10x more badass in the manga.

Mo

Don’t worry about people complaining about you theorizing, it’s one of the best parts of one piece. Just because you’re not up to date doesn’t mean you can’t make theories and guess stuff even if you know it will be answered soon. OP discussions are always fun even if you create crazy scenarios it sometimes come true.

Jaime

First episode to make me cry during my first binge of one piece

Jack Shadow

Lindey is right tho about Skward sword :D Also for me the best thing in this videos are your theorizing.

Mo za

I never understood the feather touching ace's bead and then luffy.

millecamps

can we get much higher so high

Skele

i think its just a cheesy thing the animators put in to signify the will of ace and wb being carried on

Galaxy Nemesis

Great discussion! Love your theories Carson! Don’t let the comments get to you. The One Piece community can be wild at times 😅

David P

The quote about WB’s scar is that he never received a cowards wound from running away. Not about him never receiving damage in his back lol text was right there.

Hening Honing

They needed 150000 Soilders, 3 admirals, 5 warlords, garp and sengoku, pacifista and blackbeards crew just for goatbeard👑🐐

Alex Recorde

he had other swords pierce the back when he was attacked by marines, the anime is just heavily censored

furkanecl

talking about wounds, in the manga, akainu burnt whitebeard's half of face but because of censorship, it is adapted only half of his moustache

Monkey bing bong

In the manga you can select from which angles to draw Whitebeard so the face thing isn't TOO gruesome but that's much harder to do in the anime so it makes sense why they did what they did.

ChocoBoshi

They show two seagulls flying together in the scene with Luffy and Ace on the cliff in the last episode. I don't know if its an anime only thing but I've always sort of related the two seagulls to Luffy and Ace's will to be free (as birds). I'm sure the feather is just a pretty visual representing the will being passed on and not something super deep but to me they're sort of related.

Jeremy

So people commented the one piece is real lmao I comment donuts and I’m wrong

Skele

CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHEERR!

Adam Vialpando

Of all the Ds we know, Roger Ace and Saul, they all died with smiles on their faces. Luffy when he was about to be executed in Loguetown had a smile on his face as well. Yet when Teach felt his end was near he begged for his life and even tried to call himself Whitebeard's son. For years i have wondered the meaning of this. Maybe one day we'll get answers.

ChocoBoshi

One of my favorite parts of the discussions is Carson pre-cooking the dumb YouTube comments that he knows are coming XD

tavuntu

Don't worry guys, it's been more than 1000 chapters and we still don't know that the D means... not really.

ChocoBoshi

Please avoid talking about things that are or are not revealed later in the series

Jeremy

But it didn’t ruin their reaction that’s my point y’all really stress things to much

Artemis

It changes their expectations and how they theorize the events of the story as seen with a previous user’s comment. (which I will say is also partly wrong) If we were just to verify everything that has not happened yet, some of their ideas and predictions would already be validated by us giving yes/no answers and therefore it defeats the purpose of experiencing one piece fresh without any prior knowledge. This is a type of story that is best understood by putting together every piece of the puzzle that oda drops and forming a larger picture as those pieces start to align.

Matthew Gilroy

Why are you spoiling? Besides I bet you already know what the D means. You seem to be the type of person who likes to keep it in the family. Sweet home Alabama

Monkey D.offy Lucci

Is this the first time Carson admitting his ‘love’ for the anime? I could be wrong tho.

Matthew Gilroy

Ty I don't want to come off as disrespectful but cmon now. The only significant interactions with Whitebeard were the Navy soldiers and Akainu. Aokiji barely interacted with Whitebeard. He was pretty laid back throughout the whole war. Wasn't really in it. Kizaru interacted with him only a couple times to troll and catch him off guard Akainu was the only Admiral to actually exchange blows. Akainu actually wanted Whitebeard dead. Probably because he is a marine through and through. Kizaru and Aokiji, we know are far more nuanced

Matthew Gilroy

In fact the Marineford arc as a whole really doesn't have fights, apart from that Akainu vs Whitebeard one last episode. It's mostly like one or two exchanges before we have to relocate, or something else happens that interrupts it

Matthew Gilroy

Despite Akainu being thrown into the abyss last episode, we have to give him his flowers for doing like 90% of the damage to Whitebeard (10% Squard and the 15,000 Navy soldiers with their bullshit cannons, guns, and swords). I don't think any character at Marineford could take on an admiral in an uninterrupted fight, let alone two

ChocoBoshi

I appreciate that you agree with me Matthew but the use of ad hominem attacks is unnecessary

Matthew Gilroy

It's a joke. Not hate speech. I've never seen you respond to an unserious joke like this besides me. Why?

Matthew Gilroy

Also, there are people spoiling the story for Boldcast under this very thread. You should respond to them too

Sanji Joestar

@Colonel Violet, please remove your comment @Matthew Please take accountability for your own words before pointing fingers at others. What you said is highly inappropriate and has nothing to do with other people spoiling or @Colonet Violet doing so. '' It's just a joke '' doesn't excuse this, at all.

LaDarius

Whitebead was just getting trickshotted by blackbeards crew

Sanji Joestar

That's just a big false equivalence right there. The ''The One Piece is real!" comments Carson is referring are like the ''Nothing Happened'' comments. It's void spoilers without context. Can't be policing the comment section about them without focusing the attention on what's being spoiled, thus spoiling Boldcast. Your donut comments were prior to them posting the episode where Ace is pierced and killed. You got called out for it and still ignored warnings and went with it. There's no context in which a Donut comment is hard to figure out. Why would you post it then? What reason would you have to comment it?

Sanji Joestar

It's like the Spiderweb/Butterfly scene with Nami and Arlong when she chooses to fight with her village Added in but very metaphorical

Sanji Joestar

Whitebeard * Uses Devil fruit Blackbeard * nullifies Whitebeard * Uses Naginata Blackbeard " I..I didn't think of that " 😂😂😂😂

Sanji Joestar

@Matthew Not to keep this conversation going, but refusing to address any of the points towards you and instead just replying with an emoji when your behavior in this thread has been quite offensive, is textbook immaturity. You didn't even remove/edit your comment.

Artemis

Hey man just to let you know, this is just my opinion ok. You can certainly have your own views on meme culture. I grew up in the pre-internet/anti-social media era so it’s hard for me to adjust, especially when things can get very political or liberal at times. I just want to let you know that I am not trying to show any hostility towards you. It’s just my stance on the matter. The meme in question is more of a joke than presented as a political statement so it’s not really all that bad anyways.

Vinny C

One of the really cool things about Blackbeard is that he is incredibly lucky, just like Luffy. Like even the fact that Thatch found the fruit that he was looking for was a miracle

Jeremy

But what did the donut comment do in all actuality?? Cause from what I saw in the reaction it didn’t ruin it and they had no idea what it was they probably never saw it.. you saying I got called out is laughable frfr lmao

Matthew Gilroy

When I was at school I used to here 10x worse everyday. You're either ragebaiting, targeting me in particular, or you've lived a very sheltered life

Matthew Gilroy

@Artemis it's OK. No one's perfect. We all make mistakes. Most importantly, not everyone will agree with you all the time either, seeing as Degenerick got 11 likes and you got 1 like. It's part of being human

Matthew Gilroy

@Artemis similar to the comment on the thread below, it's OK to be in the wrong sometimes. No one's perfect. We all make mistakes. Most importantly, not everyone will agree with you all the time either, seeing as Degenerick got 5 likes and you got 0 likes. It's part of being human

Sanji Joestar

Last response to your comments This has nothing to do with your tolerance for odd jokes. What is a joke to you isn't to everyone. It's out of line and honestly I don't understand why I have to explain that to you. A simple comment about a manga/anime doesn't warrant you to take that kind of jab at people you don't even know. It's called basic empathy. If you need to resort to that just to get your point across, you're doing a terrible job at basic communication. Sadly I'm sure you'll deflect again and avoid taking accountability for it.

Sanji Joestar

What I'm saying is you're trying to make two things look like the same when one is much more of a spoiler than the other. Yes your donut comments didn't cause much but it could have. That's the issue. You disregard their enjoyment of the story for a spoiler that helps no one in this case.

Matthew Gilroy

Sanji Joestar I agree with this. Why can't you articulate your points like this when you're replying to me? It's almost as if you're instigating conflict towards me

Artemis

I LOVE the Gaimon throwbacks being added to supplement your theories and reasons behind one piece. Keep it up.

Jambron

The narrator does say he didn't get any wound on his back "while running away" but I guess it just looks better to show his back with none at all, than to remember some of those probably went through 🤭

Jambron

Blackbeard is definitely a really interesting multidimensional villain compared to a lot of some stories which might have other qualities but where the villains fall a little flat or feel unconvincing.

Blackbeard's attempt to manipulate Whitebeard by being like "You can't hurt me, I'm your son!" is just so shitty. Especially so because it's something that some people do in real life, manipulating people via familal relationships. Blackbeard is the worst of the worst lol
