I'm not entirely sure if Oda had begun introducing characters with both their katakana and English spelling yet at this point in the manga so names could still have been up in the air until the official spelling was out. Same with Big Mom(mam).

Yeah you guys are no longer in the era of OP of monochromatic and simplistic designs, the shows art quality changes drastically here and i guess you can see that now with its backdrops and finer details to character designs.

I will say even back in the original Arlong Pirate arc, Arlong himself said several times about how Fishmen are superior to humans and are the better race. Yes we didn't have any idea of the discrimination Fishmen had faced themselves at this point in the story, but the idea of discrimination based on race was well established within that arc, no hindsight needed.

That may be true about the names not being fully spelled out officially on release. But crunchyroll didn't actually release this episode until 2 and a half years after its initial air date which is also behind manga. Its been on the site for over a decade now so I have no idea why they wouldn't be able to change these things, especially since the subtitles aren't baked into the episode, they're just data on the site.

It’s time consuming, not difficult, and it takes time away from daily stuff we have to do every day Since it’s kind of “extra” And also since I don’t have to edit things like it very often, it’s an unnatural thing for me to put out And also, sometimes it takes extra time to record them because we don’t always have the studio clean enough to set up the lights and cameras. We do what we can to make things streamlined, and it’s always fun to do, but it’s just weird and different from our normal routine

Its a major improvement over pre-time skip and thats what Im trying to say. Oda's art it self even improves over the years in the NW, providing even more variation and abstract details which shine through compared to some of the simplicity of OP's style before especially when related to less immportant characters. Yes it goes through even another transformation much later on but this is the first moment when you can realy tell the anime's production and oda's art has really leveled up.

Love Hordy as a villain tbh, lots of people have a problem with his character but I think unless you can see deeper behind his whole composition, you'dd spot some interesting nuances.

Thats the thing, there is nothing interesting about him, Hes so one dimensional and i barely felt anything about his backstory, unlike other villains with tragic past that explain their actions, hody’s whole deal is that his hatred for humans are basically nothing?, he literally admits no humans has done anything to him personally, that just makes me think he just racist because he wants to, idk maybe that was intentional by oda but who knows.
