Brook definitely deserved at least one full arc with the crew before their separation at Sabaody. He spent maybe a few weeks at most as the new guy and then got ripped away from them for the next 2 years. Surprised he didn't relive some kinda awful trauma from "losing" his crew a second time.

Interesting conversation about Brook I agree that they're definitely more put in the spotlight now which is very entertaining while making them more beloved. Not sure if introducing him after that huge milestone would have been better tho, with their arrival in the New world, all the crew shares the trauma of Luffy's loss and the new found strength of training for HIS sake. Probably why he was introduced immediately as a soon to be Strawhat.

Better management of the Straw hats and what they're doing and why they're doing it indeed. Tho Skypiea was also more exploration/gold hunt oriented Sanji definitely didn't tank that one but his rebuttal was dope😭

At this point of the story I honestly felt less attached to Franky than I was to Brook. Brook felt like a family despite not having a slower pace / exploring arc for him, because of his connection to Laboon. Laboon was the first friend we made after entering the Grand Line and meeting someone who new him and cared for him that deeply immediately made Brook a part of a "family". Like when you meet a friend of a friend or an old relative. And he clicked with everyone immediately adding so much to the dynamics of the crew. Franky felt less like a part of the crew to me at this point in the story, probably because his moments of shining were parallel to Robin's huge arc and he was overshadowed. When I was re-watching Enies Lobby and Water7 with you, I paid him more attention and noticed how well he blended in with our Strawhats. But it definitely feels rushed and after that we don't get many scenes of him on his own or with a few of the crew to make new dynamics and interactions.

I think it's a good idea if you guys check out the old Japanese folklore story about the Ryugu Palace. There is an old story about a guy who rescued a sea creature once. It turns out it was a merfolk or inhabitant of the underwater palace or something like that. As a reward for his good deed he is invited to the palace that exists only in legends, where the Mermaid Princess lives. He travels to the sea floor on a sea turtle and attends a banquet that was made to honour him. There is also further story after that. I love the parallels to this old legend that Oda brings here, it's very clear he was inspired by that famous folk story and it's probably super obvious that he was if you're Japanese lol. We rescue a sea creature (Megalo) who happens to be an inhabitant of the Ryugu Palace (pet of the princess) and we get invited and transported there (on the shark instead of a turtle) and rewarded with a banquet. We also get to meet (?) the Mermaid Princess, known for her beauty. 😊🦈🌊

What you were sayinh about Brook is one of the reasons I like filler eps. Just like after Alabasta there was filler with Robin to add to her dynamic with the crew there was filer with Brook to really show him trying to settle in with the crew. I really like stuff like that because it helps fill in gaps that he manga may not have time for. And overall Im glad Brook joined before the TS for reasons that shall be revealed later.

The thing is most people don't want to see the people with the least screen time. Most fans are craving for more Luffy, Zoro, Nami or Sanji then the are other crew members. So Oda has to do this balance of Juggling combinations of crew members, were fans get to see who they want, while also giving the newer members some shine.
