Amazing conversation all around. Definitely feel like the other big questions were mostly answered by your conversations during the saga. For the discussion about the Six powers I think Lindsay puts it together the best. The story is taking the opportunity to create more than just a binary powerset and instead gives different characters different ways of being stronger. Whether it's physical, spiritual or supernatural (or even scientific with cyborgs). Plus there was a point made that Lucci couldnt hurt Luffy even with his attacks unless he used his claws and impacts which doesn't align with armament haki. While at the same time they repeatedly mention that it's the result of physical training that reinforces their bodies. (Also Little clarification, nothing serious just to avoid confusions about certain speculations. Franky didn't find Cola in Vegapunk's lab. He told Kitton and his grandpa that he'll go down the mountain every now and then to refill on Cola.) Splitting the saga in two was definitely the best choice and yeah can't wait for more.

42:49 YES you get it! I have been trying to preach this to so many OP fans and they just don't understand. This is the fandom of Naruto with Orochimaru all over again. The Idea of killing off a character prematurely because prior writing felt inconsequential or didn't have a presumed end result for the character that was satisfying, is one of the worst things that you can write into a narrative because it destroys any qualities of what you would gain from that character and makes the whole writing feel cheap and lazy. We are dealing with stuff like that right now in the manga and the current OP anime and people are like "Just kill him, we don't need this character anymore, write him out of the story, his writing was shit, etc." I of course look at from your point of view and I always consider the prospect of deeper exploration. This is the kind of perspective and viewpoint I love from boldcast, because they look at the story from a true fundamental writing and directorial level. Even if certain writing didn't live up to expectations, there is always a chance that oda can rectify, fully redeem the character in the long run and even weave together interconnected storylines, allowing past events to influence future ones in a big way which can also take linear and basic writing that was introduced early and give it more meaning. Completly fixing what audiences thought before as "subpar writing". I think this also plays into the fact why Oda restrains him self from killing characters. It goes back to his original methadology. "deaths are reserved for plot-critical moments and not used as cheap shock tactics."

I remember watching Bleach Hueco Mundo arc and feeling similar vibes between the arrancar hierarchy to Crocodile's minion hierarchy.

I think oda in his head always used some form of restraint not to overly complicate the story to deeply because at these early stages the audience wasn’t ready for that yet so he instead set up these these kind of basic caricatures established that would be the introductions of characters in one piece and that’s probably why alot of it feels very basic respective to their introductory arcs but as you see the world and experience the full scope and breadth of the lore and plot, these same characters will return eventually with far more multi-tier writing and interconnected plot lines, giving it a more complicated dynamic. The Summit war saga is essentially the first realization of that as you dive into the next phase of the plot with the new world. Things only get even more interesting. This is also a major milestone point so its appropriate.

MASSIVE W to Lindsay for picking Sanji, hes a character that is often miss understood but yes he goes through probably the most growth out of any straw hat in the pre-time skip OP.

Yep oda constantly got fan letters sent to him during the paramount war saga requesting to see the straw hats again so he was already being pressured by his readers to go back to the main cast.

The more I've watched Enies Lobby its gone from an S to an A for me. Some of the best moments with Robin and Merry stuff and gear2/Lucci fight but the rest is meh to me. The weirdly paced fights drops it down for me and its so much better in the manga. And an arc tier list pre time skip would be sweet.

Hell Wink is A variation of Death Wink, after increasing the size of his head with Face Growth Hormones by using his Horu Horu no Mi abilities, he fires a much stronger wink; one with greater range, greater capacity for damage and a much-greater area of effect. Also thats not even his best, you forget about "Galaxy Wink" which is the strongest attack you have seen yet from him. It's the ultimate variation of the Newkama Kenpo Also oda embraces the idea of taking abnormal characters and making them immportant.

Woohoo my question was first! Regarding the aura of the Grandline and all its hype etc, one thing that One Piece does that is unusual as far as stories go is a very natural travelling of words. If a few characters early on in the series hype up the Grandline even though they haven't been there themselves, how much of their word should you believe? If side characters are talking about something that happened years ago or in a different sea, how reliable is their information vs someone like Aokiji talking about it? One Piece uses the Telephone Game "chain of exaggeration" effect in a very natural way and it's something that newcomers to the series don't grasp quickly (which is fine). And of course this could just be used by Oda to conveniently change the plot a bit across periods of time but it does makes logical sense in the context of an entire world

Not everyone has Kizaru as a personal favorite, but I feel like you two are the only ones I’ve seen who actively consider him as a hatable character. I feel like Kizaru’s mannerisms y’all seem to not like are what endear most people to his character.
