Monkey D.offy Lucci

Thousand Sunny is made of the Treasure Tree Adam as Franky mentioned back in Enies Lobby. Those trees are the strongest and he made it to withstand falling damage.

09:48 One of those background characters wearing the exact words being said during a scene I always love seeing them in Oda's panels or anime's frames lol😂

Luffy and the crazy entrances 10000/10 Chills lmaooo Poor Megalo

Sanji Joestar

With the amount of Coup De Burst they use i bet he super reinforced that part of the ship too

Sanji Joestar

Shirahoshi goated for keeping that promise. The cycle needs to stop at someone somewhere and she took that step. Megalo Goated too

Oussama Essamadi

Here it comes, walk to the Fishman Plaza. Let the beat down begin. I can't tell you how much I LOVE Zoro's walk. For years, I find myself doing it sometimes without even realizing lmaop.

Lots of build up to this heroic entrance, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't worth it! Nothing beats the whole crew slow walking towards battle. Also W Megalo! Despite being a massive floating shark in a bright red t-shirt, he still managed to not get caught spying on Hody that day...somehow.

The princes absolutely did not put up any more of a fight in the manga. I just double-checked the chapters (631 and 632) and we see the princes beating the sea beasts, then it cuts away and the next time we see them, they're chained up saying 'they were too strong'. The manga did not show the Hody's men taking the drugs (correction: I was wrong, thanks Sanji Joestar; it did show it, but I think that actually proves my point even further, see my second response), and it didn't even show any kind of fight whatsoever, so the short stomping they got in the anime is the sequence already being padded out like you suggested it should. I'm guessing that this is all based on a random fishman spectator saying "The princes were winning and then they ate something that suddenly turned the battle around", and it sounds like whoever said that the princes put up more of a fight took the most favorable possible interpretation of that and figured that it could mean that they fought Hody's commanders evenly for a short time, but it's more likely that the spectator is just referring to the princes beating the sea beasts and then immediately getting bodied by the commanders just like they did in the anime.

Sanji Joestar

Edit: don't listen to me After they defeat the sea beasts, Ch 631 ends on cutaway panels of Hody's minions taking pills as they're fighting the princes. So we do see them eat it. In the next chapter, we see them chained and a member of the crowd says: '' What did those officers do? The princes were winning and then they are something that suddenly turned the battle around. '' We're being given a recounting of that fight from the crowd since it was offscreened and it implies they had the advantage until the pills kicked in.

Isaac Sato

I missed them popping the pills, but it actually proves my point even further that the princes put up zero fight. Because according to the spectators, when the commanders ate something the fight turned around, and you now point out that they ate something before the princes even began fighting them (https://cdn.readonepiece.com/file/mangap/2/10631000/16.jpeg). So clearly the princes 'winning' was them defeating the sea beasts and only the sea beasts.

Sanji Joestar

Edit: don't listen to me Except it's a cutaway panel from their fight The point being the crowd's commentary wouldn't make sense if the princes were overwhelmed by the officers from the start.

Isaac Sato

It makes perfect sense. The fight starts with the princes fighting the sea beasts and beating them. The commanders take their pills and beat the princes, turning the battle around. Fight over.

Sanji Joestar

If the commentary includes the Sea beast then that makes sense. Problem is I'm always double checking with the Wiki and the chapters (because of how many changes there's between the anime and manga for this arc's adaptation) and the Wiki for the episode mentions the continuity error too.

2026-09-08 02:00 Moments like this in One Piece are like your mommy's slow cook stew recipe...you push through the wait for the peak moments. It's such a long wait, but when you taste your mom's cooking once again, all is good in the world. 😭 This show got a slow build up, but oh my god, when you get the payoff, thats what makes it so rewarding though.

The wiki is definitely not a 100% reliable source. But like Luffy says here, you should ultimately decide for yourself, and not listen to the wiki or to me. If you still think that the princes put up a fight, then that's perfectly fine headcanon that doesn't contradict anything. And there's nothing wrong with that. You have to headcanon with One Piece. It's a story that encourages it. And for the record, I didn't post this to start a fight with you or convince you or whoever else (I don't even know who posted it in the other section), I just wanted to point this out to Carson before he puts this opening in the YouTube edit without knowing that it's not as explicit as he made it seem and gets potentially lit up in the comments there.

Sanji Joestar

Yeah nah you're right. I think this one's on me. I commented that too. I do check the chapters before making note of errors but the problem came from the offscreening and change of scenes in-between that led me to the wrong conclusions.

Isaac Sato

Nah, I don't think it's on you. I would definitely say that the end of 631 into the beginning of 632 jumps around way too much and is honestly just confusingly paneled. You get the sense that Oda is trying to cram as much as he can and move as many pieces as he can all at once to get things moving/over with. He's off-screening a ton of stuff and jumping back and forth between viewpoints on every single page. It is genuinely confusing.

Sanji Joestar

I do think he made it fast paced for the switcheroo about the Strawhat's real plan, since what we're witnessing is mostly a farce / trick for the enemy but yeah the switch are a bit too abrupt overall.

and Franky is a world class shipwright who can do maintenance instead of the damage building up without proper repairs!

klairvoyage

Yeah I also do check https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Episode_XXX#Anime_Notes whenever I watch these Uncuts, but occasionally the stuff listed on there is either nitpicky or sometimes even straight up wrong Joestar's point still stands tho, considering 631 & 632 do imply that the Princes were putting up a fight for *some* time (even if it wasn't shown on page). Toei could have used this opportunity to create meaningful filler – showing what Oda weird skipped over with all his cutting around – instead of the long panning reaction frames as usual... but I guess that would have required effort that they weren't bothering to invest in at that time. edit: oh shii mb, somehow missed them popping the pills in https://cdn.readonepiece.com/file/mangap/2/10631000/16.jpeg, thought Oda was just in his "off-screen off-screen no mi" mode again there between 631/632

Isaac Sato

Respectfully, I don't think that the chapters necessarily imply that at all. What's said is, "What did those officers do? The princes were winning and then they ate something that suddenly turned the battle around." Well, the princes were winning. They one-shot the sea beasts. Then, according to the quote, the commanders ate something and the battle suddenly turned around. But we see in the panel (https://cdn.readonepiece.com/file/mangap/2/10631000/16.jpeg) that the officers immediately took the pills before even engaging the princes, so there was no back-and-forth before taking the energy steroid. IMO the quote from the random spectator fishman doesn't make sense if there was back-and-forth after taking the pill, like if there was a noticeable lag time for the steroid to take effect, or if the princes held on for a little while, because they say that Hody's commanders ate something and the battle suddenly turned. If there was back-and-forth then it wasn't really a sudden shift. I think that there are many, many legitimate grievances to have with the anime, especially in this arc, but I think that Toei accurately depicted how badly the princes got trashed here. The fight was also completely off-screen in the manga, so the short scene of them getting beaten WAS the filler, but there's only so much that you can stretch out when the end result is a low-diff.
